Audio relay is a simplex repeater function built right in! Almost nobody talks about this but it could be a lifesaver. Duct tape it to a line and hoist it up a tree branch and use another radio or mobile to reach out much further
Robert, thanks for pointing out this overlooked feature. I do have some simplex repeaters but in a pinch this would fit the bill perfectly and you have given me some ideas to test out now. Thanks so much for the information. Get information, give information. Perfect.
Could you explain how you would use that feature in real life scenario
One of my radio teams supports back country runs,hikes, bicycle races, and disaster assignments. San Diego area is very hilly and lifting an HT into a tree could make a connection otherwise impossible.
The Bluetooth connects right up to my Sena comms system in my motorcycle helmet. Really extends the reach for riding groups.
Also, it could theoretically be used to find a downed rider that missed a checkin.

I prefer the USB-C charging port on the battery. This allows you to charge a spare battery without needing the radio. Charging through the radio requires you to have a cable connected to the radio to charge the battery. This limits the use of the radio.
USB-C charging is a game changer on radios. I’m glad to see more and more manufactures go this route.
I know these radios are text capable but we use rattle gram app hardwired to the radio with the BTECH APRS cable so we don’t have to key the radio every time. Besides my XPR 6550’s the GMRS Pro is one a my favorite HT’s. Great channel lots of info.

Dumb question,,, if your cell service goes down, can you still access everything that show on your btech app than your on your phone only? Gps, texting from radio or only your phone?
You can do both. No need for cell service to use the app. You can also text from the radio if no phone is available
These look really cool. I considered them, but ended up with Meshtastic LORA radios instead for text/GPS and a different GMRS radio. I have some BTECH GMRS radios and they are all very good. I wish BTECH would come up with a competing product to the MXT575. The mic with screen is so much better to install in a small SUV than a more traditional radio.
You did good I think. Seems like the mesh has the market on the mapping. At least for iOS.
@@Disastercommunications On Android I am yet to find a way to download large area maps. I found that because they give you a link in the app for the GPS local. That can open your default map program it doesn't matter. I'm not tracking a team. So, one at a time is fine. I just wish it could output real time mapping to Osmand. I have found the ATAC app utterly useless for off road driving.
On android app it also can share pictures over radio. Pretty cool.

I am a BTECH fan , I would like to see BTECH make a Preppers specific 2 way that has all of the features that the GMRS pro , and is as rugged and water proof. Then what would make it more Prepper specific radio would be that it could tx on all frequencies. Also like to see it with a little more size to it.
Maybe a GMRS pro combined with a dmr 6x2 pro.

Will the BTECH GMRS pro work on frs also
So FRS and GMRS share 22 channels. GMRS does over a few for more Chan els after that as well. GMRS does provide more power than GMRS too
I like my GMRS Pro. Respectfully though, I do have some complains. The main one is that the compass (even after calibrating) is next to useless. There area also a number of features truth are only settable through the app. The rest of my complaints are minor.
I would like to ask why you say that the user needs to be more tec savvy for GMRS compared to FRS. The only differences in the services is that GMRS allows repeaters and the amount of power that you can put out. The rest of the differences are differences in the radios, not the services. If you want these radios, I would go ahead and play for the license. One license covers your whole family Keep a couple of cheep FRS radios for people that aren't in your family and GMRS radios for family members.

I agree 100% that there needs to be some firmware updates. That bug with the compass being one of them. So the reason I mentioned being a little more tech savvy for GMRS (specially the pro) is because of having to use either the app or direct input on the radio to send messaging. Might be a better term for it as well, not only that part, but there is some additional steps to be able to use such as licensing etc. so maybe the approach is more advanced radio comms vs basic is a better approach. FRS is turn key and simple. GMRS requires a couple extra (not major) steps for comms.
@@Disastercommunications I have one more new complaint about it. Since posting that, I tried useing it in an urban environment. I was getting a lot of intermodulation interference from neighboring frequencies, The receivers selectivity is pretty poor.
