Great reaction. Her songs are indeed so very personal... so personal it is hard to imagine anyone else trying to cover them (even apart from the vocal difficulty...). They remind me a little of poetry from the Tudor period which was also often very personal, such that it is difficult to understand fully now without expert help filling in the background biographical and historical details... that said, Angelina's songs also have a universal quality which should give them lasting value - Million Miles is like that too, with specific personal details that related to Angelina's life but also strong universal sentiments...

I've been listening to blues, R & B, pop and jazz singers since 1951, when I was 3. I've follow some of the greatest, Mahalia Jackson, Ethel Waters, Billy Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Pearl Bailey, Dina Washington, Gladys Knight, Janis Joplin, Angelina is fastly becoming my favorite of all time.
A tear stealthy in the night. What child has not experienced that.A warm embrace from someone safe. Is what we wish for all our children. Life is beautiful the good and the bad. Totally meaningful, the emotions are totally age appropriate but expressed with adult finesse.
Angelina wrote this at age 11. Here we see not only Angelina the singer, but Angelina the composer; but not only Angelina the composer, but Angelina the child-philosopher! "Life is perhaps just a memory; we come, we see, we go" -- patterned after the Grecian philosophical ideas of where did I come from, why am I here, where am I going! And don't forget that she composed this song in English, her third language, while doing it in the jazz style of the early-mid 20th century! Just extraordinary!

Her fundamental Song for the followings. Every phrase is worth to think about. Her greatest influencer is her grandma Mery, also a child prodigy. Mery was growing up in the Land of Zarathustra, a wise man living 1000y before Jesus Christ. His message is think good, speak good and do good. That's what you hear in her last phrase ❣️💓and her message from her last concert.. be kind to eachother and spread Love because we need it more in the world 💕🌎

Her LA guitarist friend is Ivan Mendez, and the gentlemen on piano is Texas born Dylan Meeks a very talented musician who became a protégé of the Harlem piano master Jimmy Neeley and attended the New School for Jazz in NYC. Angelina has always been surrounded by very talented musicians and I am quite certain they are proud and inspired to create music with her. Cheers Britt, stay well, stay safe.

This song could easily be a moment in a musical from the 50s. I can just see it. The story of a teenage girl in Kansas, or somewhere like that, growing up and reflecting on life's surprises. I love Angelina's voice here - smoky, smooth and raspy all at once with that classic vibrato. And I love how she mispronounces 'stealthy' (understandably) and manages to combine it with the idea of 'stealing into the night'. One of my top five, along with about thirty others!

She wrote this at 11 and is 12 here singing it in her music corner as she calls it in her room. Piano player is Dylan Meek and Ivan Mendez on guitar. She did this song 🎵 again the following year in concert at 13 with a small band and of course she did it with a different style. You might react to it to some day. Hope you check out her version of "Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin as she played a tribute to right after she died when Angie was 13. It was respectful and beautiful with a respectful fade to black at the end. ❤👍

English is not Angelina's first language. She pronounces stealthy as steelthy because of the way it is spelled (not as stellthy). Each of the things she sings as life are things in her life - going to school as she does, sitting at the piano playing beautiful songs like the pianist does (I read that he won a Grammy), creating paintings like her grandmother (a painter), and other familiar things in her life.

Britt, dear, Angelina has seen more ugliness, hate, violence, poverty, etc. in her young live, than most grown ups in their whole live. In the beginning Mom Sarah and little AJ lived with Dad, where he was stationed. Dad is a engineer for a international oil company, so you can imagine, the third world countries are seldom a place of joy and happiness. No wonder she speaks so many languages, the most of them fluently.

I very much like your reactions and I have been a subscriber since the very beginning but.... the sound level from your microphone is so low and the level from the music is so loud. It is very tiresome to have to turn the level up an down and up and down... all the time. If I set the level to fit your voice the music comes out at a near hearing damaging level! Also I wonder why you haven't continued react to Aurora. As I have said before, the official video of "Queendom" would be interesting to you, as a dancer.

I wonder why the bulk of the AJ fans are retirement age men. Seems like she should have cross-generational appeal.
She does, but the people who supported her from the beginning are a little older because some of the music she sings appeals to them. How may young people and young adults listen to old school jazz like Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James? Not too many. Since she's been covering more current music, the numbers of younger fans have shot way up. What is kind of surprising, it's the younger fans that have pushed their friends and family to listen to her. I even heard a group of young teen girls talking about Angelina when I visited a fast food place for lunch and I was kind of shocked! I wanted to jump in, but changed my mind and left with a smile on my face!

I think it's creepy that as a child people applauded her for singing adult, highly sexualized songs. Yeah, she has a freakishly adult voice, but she's NOT and adult. As a preteen she should have had a barbie, (which in itself is questionable).
