I have done 1000's of those Pumps, MOST DODGE TRUCKS U can raise just the front of the bed & support it with a wood block,,,, U have plenty of room to stand up & work, we did that in Dodge Dealership Tune Up Dept's for decades. I've done it by myself, without help as well, if U have a pole jack it is really fast & easy.
I just wanted to say thanx for these videos. I have a 99 RT Kota, and I have learned so much from your videos. I have always run carbs and big blocks. This is my first small block fuel injection build, and you have made it easy for me. Thanx, and keep informing me.
Some tedious work there in that project.. I found this very interesting an helpful never had one apart ..I feel very informed on how it all comes part an works an back together with some of your own fabrications for easier to do next time if a guy needed to.. good job on that boost an thanks very much for sharing this greatly detailed video .. 👍👌
i admire you for doing it yourself, saving 100 bucks or more an hour, except for where you have to guess at things etc..im dyin to see it kick ass at dragstrip though...
Damn!!! That is a lot of info. I consider myself a patient person,I was a tattoo artist for 14 years so I take my art pretty seriously and to get it done to the best of my ability. When it comes to automotive shit like this,I think I would have already taken a hammer to it.. LOL Thumbs up man!
When I changed my pump on 2001 dakota it was plug and play 227.00 for everything, no dissecting old pump. Bought it from same co. that makes oem Chrysler pumps. 488.00 if I wanted the logo or 227.00 identical just no Chrysler logo on it. Its been 2.5 years now.
Much respect for your understanding of the ridiculous Chrysler "engineering" and how you made your mod work in spite of it. That being said, this is a project I would never try without someone like you standing right beside me. Yikes, what happened to two bolts, a cam lever and a couple of hose clamps. Not as bad as German over-engineering but close. Thanks for the info.
i hope you used plastic ribbed fuel hose or submersible hose cause i learn do it right the 1st time or do it twice, and use spring clamp not snail clamp
Changing the fuel pump shouldn't affect your AFR or how the truck runs, you still have the same regulator on the top of the tank so it should be running at the same pressure.
Does the gas gauge fluctuate when truck in in motion, i.e., coming to a stop or does it have a stop so it will not do that? When I take off it goes back and the opposite when I come t a stop.
Hey I got to change out a bed on my Dakota and I'm not sure if it's got the same amount of mounting bolts as yours I got the 81 inch . Supposedly from what I found out it has eight... Is that how many yours had?
I think that dakota uses the same pump as my ram. Holley makes a fuel pickup bladder that only picks up fuel where it touches the bladder eliminating it picking up air.
My fuel gauge shows empty with a full tank but every couple weeks jumps up and displays the correct amount for a few seconds before showing empty again. What should I check to fix this problem? thanks to anyone that knows
Don’t forget about that bell icon
Thanks for the support brother! 🤟
BoostedMotorsports Absolutely.
why not just buy a whole new pump and drop it in the gas tank?too much work tearing the old one apart just replace one part.
@@303ant420 lol like 20 bucks I would spend 20$ more just to save time and work time is money and less of a headache to spend 40 bucks for a new one.
@@brandonbrown3899 you have a partnumber or link to get a new one for 40 bucks the better performance version?

i did this to my 97 1500 5.9L new fuel pump but i used a jack stand and cherry picker and now she runs awesome

What good is it to upgrade a fuel pump when it's got a fuel regulator you can't upgrade

Thumbs up, did you install a relay for increase current draw?

Was it an AEM 340lph??
Thanks, I'm pulling the tank off an 03 Dakota this weekend. Keep up the good work.
For a factory pump replacement, lots of good info.. But I'dost definitely just throw a fuel cell in the bed if I ever were to upgrade my Dakota 🤙
It is much easier to remove the bed from the trunk as to try and drop the tank, Much easier

Always fun playing with fuel. I hate when I have to remove the fuel control from a jet engine. My sinus don't like jet fuel. lol
Then you would hate my farts.
Awesome video! 👍🏻 You should run an 03 rear end. The rear disc brakes will stop that thing on a dime!
Forgot to talk about disconnecting wiring. Taillights or any aftermarket shit.
Ah you're right I did film that but it somehow didn't make it into the vid!
i hope you used plastic ribbed fuel hose or submersible hose cause i learn do it right the 1st time or do it twice, and use spring clamp not snail clamp
what about the small diameter fuel line and still running through the stock pressure regulator?
Good Point but fuel pressure will Definitely increase, 💪💯
but it still hinders fuel flow.should increase diameter of fuel line@@200shotramhemi4
@@nickannese7797 that's When a Fuel Cell and Entire fuel system upgrade comes into play, this Is Budget and it works to a certain extent
@@200shotramhemi4 true but most thing that have been done for future upgrades. especially if he wants to increase boost. but for now it will work

Changing the fuel pump shouldn't affect your AFR or how the truck runs, you still have the same regulator on the top of the tank so it should be running at the same pressure.
This is where a remote high pressure pump tank is useful, using a low pressure high volume pump in tank to feed the remote tank...
Laughed pretty hard at the "dispose of this properly" part
Pretty simple with gasoline, turn your back for a few minutes and it is disposed
Does the gas gauge fluctuate when truck in in motion, i.e., coming to a stop or does it have a stop so it will not do that? When I take off it goes back and the opposite when I come t a stop.
Just fill it before it gets empty
Can I replace this AEM fuel pump for the stock one and run stock with no tune or none supercharged. I plan on supercharging down the road
Hey was she running good after the tune
did you ever get new injecters in this thing,or new wires etc...
I have a base 97 dakota with a 2.5l would like to convert it over to the rt, how much headache and custom rewireing, and fuel lines.

This is the short bed 6.5 feet it has 6 bolts the long bed has 8 i believe
Is this a return fuel system or return less system? My ram is dropping press at higher rpm with a stroker motor.
Returnless
I think that dakota uses the same pump as my ram. Holley makes a fuel pickup bladder that only picks up fuel where it touches the bladder eliminating it picking up air.
Good video....but youve still got the oem pressure regulator....so no more pressure for you!
i think fuel pumps just go out,an bam, your stranded, but who knows..
Is that the 320lph pump?
340lph 🤙 link is in the description the one I used 😃
@@BoostedMotorsports where did you get the reference to use this pump
Is your tank a 22 gal or 15? Does it matter?
No, one tank is just bigger than the other
How much gas mileage does it give you now since you did that
It wouldn’t have any effect on how much gas the engine uses
Did he remove to upgrade or replace it because it died? It seemed to work but it could also be he did it to add more fuel/tune, right?
It’s needed because he’s going boosted
@@jwilkins1121 oh I see, thanks.
