    Hi Christian- great lesson and story. Do you suggest a particular video to make it easy and sound good of course to play bar/lounge/cocktail music? I find myself all over the board with what to learn to prep me for such a scenario. My goal/bucket list is to play in a boutique hotel lounge a mile from our house some day. I played on their grand piano before for just a few minutes and it was the coolest experience. I’d play for free as I’m pursuing this out of passion and not money(for now). I took all your basic blues tutorials and enjoy those sounds and a couple of jazz ones but still feel like I need someone to say learn this tutorial and that’s all you need to entertain for hours. This scenario would be in the lobby and not in front of a large bar crowd. Just easy listening, soft bluesy jazz music. Thanks for a suggestion to give me some direction and confidence to go for it :). Thanks Christian! Appreciate it.

      I have the same dream - I hope to find a piano in a hotel lobby or bad in Copenhagen where I can come and play for free just for the fun of it :-) not good enough (yet) to ask for any kind of pay, but would love to build up some experience and do this as a side hustle once I retire in 20 years :-)

      @@clausmossbeck7724 Why wait 20 years.. never know where things will be then. Maybe Christian will give us both good sound advice to get us there sooner than we think. I know I don’t want to wait until I retire.. I want to enjoy the experience now while I can remember it :)

      Good point - I’m taking recorded lessons from Piano With Jonny and have a jazz pianist teacher for in person lessons. Hopefully that will give me the confidence and skills to be allowed to play in a lounge somewhere nice, in a few years - jazz piano is just so darn complicated, feel like I’m at base camp trying to climb Mount Everest

    • @pianopaulus6774
      @pianopaulus6774 8 місяців тому +1

      @@clausmossbeck7724 good for you. Yes, jazz can be complicated. I’ve viewed many videos by Johnny and every time I do, I think the same thing. Way too complicated and goes way overboard on naming fancy chords and takes his lessons one step to far to make things more difficult than they should be. That is why Christian’s style is so appreciated- simple enough to learn, yet still full of the rich sounds we all want to emulate. Good luck with things. Let’s challenge one another and see who can get behind the lounge piano first.:)

      @@ChristianFuchsBlues, I would definitely be interested in repertoire!!!! Please do!! I can play the piano, and I play well. I'm currently in a 3 piece jazz band but am looking at doing some solo work. I'd love to feel more confident about how to line up a "setlist" or even just have an idea of how tunes should ebb and flow, one into the next, in order to keep it interesting for an audience but allow them to eat and talk, perhaps even dance a little, and keep the right atmosphere... over the course of 2 or 3 or 4 HOURS. Play a song? No problem, in lots of styles. How to lay it all out, I struggle. I'm pretty sure I can get some gigs. Then what?!! (And that hasn't even gotten into getting paid, which I think would be a valuable subject as well.) I know it's an old thread but maybe you'll see this. Thanks!
