I see the expansion you mentioned. That will give you some rail running. It should look good. Down here in the land of Gators, Mosquitoes and Cajuns, if it is sitting still then its rusting, growing mold or both! One detail that just didn't jump out at me while looking is the Frenchman's Beard. Some times called Spanish Moss. Even in the Northwest part of the state it is all over the Cypress trees growing up out of the water. There are many photos of it online. Another often found detail to add is an old car with a tree growing up through the car. A lot times a tree will grow up between the bumper and the body, slowly crushing the car as the tree grows bigger around. You know it is owned by that guy who kept telling every interested buyer that one day he was going to fix up that old car. Nope not for sale! That was common down here until the scrapper law kicked in.

A very unique layout ! Art in 3D where each image has that special, gloomy, mysterious atmosphere of swamps and bayous. Love that spanish moss too !

Reminds me of how Northwest Ohio would have looked in the 1800s at the beginning of railroading. Our area had "The great Black Swamp" and took forever to get drained. At that time, all villages had a railroad connection. Thanks for the video, gives me ideas for sure. Good job!

Well done! First it was Thunder Mesa Studio, now I’ve found your channel, and I think I’m in the early stages of an On30 addiction! Ha! Towards the end of the video there’s a shot that shows two green plastic jugs sitting on the bottom leg bracing under the layout. Is that gator repellent or “hot water” out of the shower house boiler/still? Ha!

Having grown up on the Texas coast, modeling the Guadalupe river valley GCL, and definitely been up and down the gulf coast and many many swamps, man your layout is truly beautiful. I was curious what material you used to build your piers, trestles and wharfs, I’ve got 4 trestles of varying sizes and three wharfs out onto the bays I have to scratchbuild and the way yours turned out same color and all is what I’m aiming for. You narrow gauge guys are the cream of the crop when it comes to modelers. Always A1 modeling and the coolest of stories to them. I’ve been telling modelers for a while now that east Texas logging needed to be modeled, looks like the mosquito creek isn’t too far from it!

Greetings! Thanks for your wonderful comments. I'm just using dowels and commercially available strip wood for the piers and wharfs. I mix an ample batch of wood stain (brown and black shoe polish and a lot of isopropyl alcohol) then I use that stain for all the wood and ties for my track.
I'm also modeling in HO scale on the upper level of my layout...a modern Hawaiian theme shortline: Big Island Rail. It's been featured in the major model railroad magazines. I have a new UA-cam channel for it and a Facebook and IG accounts as well.

Love your layout. It popped up on my phone earlier today.
Can I ask what the size of your new space is?
