Hank Williams Jr. - A Star Spangled Country Party (1984, TV-G) The Full 1989 VHS

- Well, I've come across an incredibly rare video that isn't even available digitally while cleaning out my grandparents' basement, and it turned out to be one of my favorite artists, Hank Williams Jr.! This tape is a true historical lens of good ole Honky-Tonkin' Americana as this is a big tribute to the Navy soldiers aboard the former U.S.S. Constellation. This rowdy classic is one big concert coated in all-American love and with occasional good humorous commentary from Hank Jr. himself between songs! Note to Parents: While this aired with a TV-G rating in the past and is considered family-friendly, this concert film does contain some mildly inappropriate language, including some minor swearing, along with suggestive lyrics and references to alcohol. Also guest starring Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, Earl Thomas Conley, and Gus Hardin with additional performances to rock you away!
VHS Description: Welcome to the World's Largest Floating Party LIVE Aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. CONSTELLATION!
-
This party is dedicated to Captain Bull and all our rowdy friends on the U.S.S. Constellation. Thanks for the ship... thanks for being so hip...
-Hank Jr. and the Producers
COPYRIGHT STATUS: The video itself is by a company that is no longer in business, therefore, the video itself has lapsed into public domain. However, because all of the songs are by (mostly) living artists, I must acknowledge their rightful ownership of all the songs performed on this cassette, as well as the active copyright status of their songs. This was uploaded with creative use and for the purpose of digital preservation.
Soundtrack: (C) 1984 Little Money Productions, and Hank Jr.
QUALITY NOTICE: Due to the fact that this is a 1989 rerelease of a 1986 VHS for an obscure 1984 TV Special and to the fact that this tape has likely not been played in over 30 years after sitting in a cardboard box inside an often-humid basement, there are unavoidable issues present in the video in the form of "snowy" noise. Thankfully, it does not severely impact the overall video quality, nor does it hardly affect the original stereo soundtrack, therefore keeping the original experience intact, and most importantly, maintaining an adequate enough presentation.
Thanks, I was there for this, stationed aboard Connie. Awesome memories.
Glad to bring them back to you. :) God bless you for your service.
Would have been awesome to be at that show live!

My father was at that show. Him and his father went over there
That's so cool! So glad it brings back good memories. :)
What a great concert, just finished watching it, Hank JR in his prime....well his prime was 77 to 90. Boy he can control a crowd. Never gets credit for his piano and guitar work.
Indeed! I feel like that's the best era of country music, too! Hee Haw was still on the air, all the good artists were alive, and the atmosphere just screamed Americana!
Absolutely incredible
Thank you for posting this, I have it on vhs but this is much handier. I never get tired of watching it
Thank you so much for this !! I was 9 when I saw this on TV and I fell in love with country music and went on to learn to play guitar and sing country music. I have been looking for this online for years. Thank you again !!
I saw a clip on youtube of this concert, but not the whole thing. Thanks, amazing finding this.
It don't get no better than this
I was there for the concert. Parked in the front row. I was a Flight Deck Director at that time and helped set-up for the show. I remember when we loaded all of the buses onto the flight deck. They were stacked up behind the stage. Like most of us CV-64 Sailors we miss our ship.
God bless you for your service. And what was it like to work with Hank Jr.?
Two things about this great concert. I now own the hat that Waylon is wearing and hopefully it will be on display soon in Nashville. #2 I wonder why the Alabama portion of the show is missing?
My guess is licensing issues from Record company contracts. Typical bureaucratic garbage, if you ask me.
🎉❤ awesome
My appreciation, notification expert. 😊
Thank you, a country music treasure!
Thank you for uploading the whole thing, Ive only ever seen bits and pieces of it.
No problem! Hope you enjoyed with headphones on, because I managed to keep the original stereo soundtrack intact! It's a treat on the ears! :)
i still have the vhs. watched it many nights as a soldier stationed in germany in the mid 80s
God Bless you and Thank you for your service, sir.
if that aint a party then i never been to one! waylon and HWJ playing them songs!!! holy hell
I recall seeing this two yrs. after this concert ( 1986) It's a gem for sure.
how many fps is this video? looks very smooth
In glorious 60 frames per second! I recorded the DVD in XP mode, which captured every frame from the original VHS in the highest possible quality. I used Handbrake to rip the DVD's contents and customized the settings to exactly double the resolution, which was 640 pixels by 480 progressive lines. I had upscaled it to 1280 by 960, which is compatible with UA-cam's "720p" standards. As for the frame rate, I just left it as is. Everything you see is otherwise identical to the original VHS quality.
Do you have any other Hank stuff ?
I do! Just CD's and Cassettes I'm sadly not allowed to upload. However, this video is too rare to be a problem for UA-cam's copyright status, which the algorithm recognized the songs in this and allowed me to freely use. Isn't it nice to find loopholes that everyone can enjoy? :)
Gone but never forgotten
Do you trade Live Hank stuff? I got a pretty big collection of live stuff.
I'm on a bit of a budget and won't be able to do so at the moment, but feel free to keep me posted with the goods! I'll be sure to track whatever you've got! :)
@@elijahvincent985 sounds good. Thanks
@@elijahvincent985 if you would please holler at me when you get time to trade I would appreciate it. I have the complete Showtime version of this show among other rare things.
