Just inherited 3 Dan Wesson's that were rarely fired, but are sticking in the actions when cocking and dry firing. I believe the old grease is dried up in there and this video is amazing in detail for the work I have ahead of me. That is a magnificent DW! I had two blued model 15's one was awesome and on the edge of being worn out and the second one couldn't find a gun smith that could fix it but looked great. The first one was super accurate and came with the brown case and a couple of barrels. The second one either was a lemon or needed a good gun smith, it always spit lead.
Thank you for the very detailed video. I am curious if you'd recommend an ultrasonic cleaner for most of the parts? I've used one before on old cosmoline soaked parts and they worked great and did not affect the finish.
I am going to give you a definite "it depends". The trick with an ultrasonic cleaner is making sure you get the gun completely dry and then oiled. I have seen 1911s come into the shop that had a rusted mainspring because they didn't get all of the water out of the mainspring housing yet alone get some oil down there. Sometimes, heated ultrasonic solutions can cause some change in the finish of a firearm. I usually use Simple Green in my ultrasonic cleaner. But only use it for really dirty guns and especially for BCGs.
Excellent video on the Deep cleaning of the Dan Wesson revolver, I know the Dan Wesson uses a clock wise cylinder rotation like Colt revolvers and Smith & Wesson uses a counter clock wise rotation, and from time to time the Ejector Rod becomes unwound, thus locking up the cylinder, how common is this to a Dan Wesson or a Colt?
Thanks! It really helped. Mine did not have a cylinder spring bearing, somebody else probably else lost it before my dad bought it. Does that make the ejector return to close position once you clear the empties? Mine is a model 14 and the Crane Lock or "U" clip for the bolt plunger is just plain EVIL. Trying to keep it in place while reassembling is quite the trick. I love the gun. Mine has a hair trigger when in the cocked position and if you have arthritis that is great. I also love that the sights are adjustable. Great fun. Thanks again for a great video.

the spring bearing can help with the ejector as it keeps it aligned. You may need to have a professional look at it though. Thanks for watching!
