I left a little earlier than he did at 18 after enlisting in the Marine Corps. I traveled all over the place and then took a civilian job that left me traveling. I have been on my own for almost 40 years going home once or twice a year to see Mom. She passed 3 years ago at 90 years of age. I still have itchy feet but you can bet whatever you have that I will be in a little cemetery in the mountains of West Virginia in a few days wishing Mom, Dad, my brothers and sister, and Grandparents a Merry Christmas. Once you have listened to this song, if you aren't bawling your eyes out, give your mother a call.
This song says a lot about life and the times we have lived in the past. There were times that I did not call my family at Christmas. There were times that I could call but I did not.
Though it wasn't my mother. I argue with my father over stupid stuff. 3 years I didn't attended family Thanksgiving or Christmas. The 3rd year my Father ask me to attend The family Christmas I didn't. My father passed away right after Christmas. I'll live with that guilt the rest of my life. I miss ya Daddy love you
