I sing for the elderly every Friday morning. These folks are so precious to my heart. This song has a special meaning. These folks are here for just a little while longer. Thanks for posting this song. God Bless
mom used to sing hymns with grannies room mate in nursing home the little old lady couldn't recall family and always thought I was a classmate from an old one rom school but anyway she could recall and sing any hymn outta that old hymnal as long as mom started off that's the power of music and love
Love this song from a good ole country boy . .he's never got above his raising . he's still a hillbilly to me . keep it up for we need more to keep our good ole music going .
I saw James King last night at a local show. Please everyone who admires his music pray for him and his health. James is a icon we need to keep around for awhile. GOD bless you James King.
My uncle introduced me to this song. I love listening to him play it, but we all end up having tears streaming down our faces remembering how Grandpa was bedridden at the end of his life.
in ways this reminds me of when I took care of my father at his house Hospice put a bdt in the living room that was full of windows but in my fathers case he had a nice view , this song in a funny way brings peace to me . I made sure he was home when he past just 2 months after he turned 72 .

I liked the end where Jim wipes the tear away. As a singer of songs like these, I've had songs that I sing that still make me tear up. One such song by Stan Rogers , called "Lies" still does.

Two old friends share a room In a home for the elderly Confided to their bed Their bodies have given way Old Joel by the window Watch the days goes by Bill lives to hear the tales about the world outside From the bed by the window He tells how the children play The lovers in the park The ducks out on the lake The little boy who ll swept the sidewalk When the sun came out each day From the bed by the window He tells it just that way They share with each other The stories of their lives Relive all their memories and Dreams of better times Outside the leaves were changing The summer turn to fall And from the bed by the window Old Joel described all From the bed by the window He tells how the children play The lovers in the park The ducks out on the lake The little boy who ll swept the sidewalk When the sun came out each day From the bed by the window He tells it just that way Then on a cold winter morning In the light of the dawn The bed by the window is empty Old Joel is gone And then they move Bill to the window He couldn t hold back the tears When he finally saw the view outside after all those years From the bed by the window He couldn’t see out at all There was nothing out that window But an old brick wall Now a new man share that room in the home for the elderly Confided to his bed His body has given way Bill lies by the window As the days go by And his new friend lives to hear the tales about the world outside () From the bed by the window he tells it just that way

Two old friends share a room
In a home for the elderly
Confided to their bed
Their bodies have given way
Old Joel by the window
Watch the days goes by
Bill lives to hear the tales about the world outside
From the bed by the window
He tells how the children play
The lovers in the park
The ducks out on the lake
The little boy who ll swept the sidewalk
When the sun came out each day
From the bed by the window
He tells it just that way
They share with each other
The stories of their lives
Relive all their memories and
Dreams of better times
Outside the leaves were changing
The summer turn to fall
And from the bed by the window
Old Joel described all
From the bed by the window
He tells how the children play
The lovers in the park
The ducks out on the lake
The little boy who ll swept the sidewalk
When the sun came out each day
From the bed by the window
He tells it just that way
Then on a cold winter morning
In the light of the dawn
The bed by the window is empty
Old Joel is gone
And then they move Bill to the window
He couldn t hold back the tears
When he finally saw the view outside after all those years
From the bed by the window
He couldn’t see out at all
There was nothing out that window
But an old brick wall
Now a new man share that room in the home for the elderly
Confided to his bed
His body has given way
Bill lies by the window
As the days go by
And his new friend lives to hear the tales about the world outside
()
From the bed by the window he tells it just that way
No cursing allowed. Thanks for watching and commenting.... Jack
