I am just starting out.... I think I finally have enough pieces to start selling. But I am SO nervous. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience. I found this video truly helpful. Deep breath, now......
Hi Mia, Great video! I'd love to sell my pottery but the German system is so complicated. Can you please make a video about all the paperwork and stuff you have to do before you can sell pottery in Germany? That'd be so helpful! Thank you!
I am a retired ceramic art teacher and at 76 I think all that is involved is a bit more than I want to try So I guess I’ll just be making what ever I want just for me
I am a ceramicist from Taiwan. Thank you very much for sharing this video, it is very inspiring and informative. Looking forward to more of your video!
June 30th is the one year anniversary of my channel. I've been trying this and that, evaluating the yes and the no, and am moving forward from there. I found these tips helpful even though I don't make pottery. LOVE IT though! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing about using overcast lighting. I knew about using natural lighting when taking pictures of my pieces but you're right about the lighting be harsh on the pieces. This video really helped me. Thank you!!
Thanks for the great nuggets of advice! I am definitely finding Etsy a challenge to sell on - I had great sales before, but they have dropped off and its frustrating, so it's good to hear how you are using other options!
Thank you so much for this video. I am choosing a name for my pottery business. I love your name, and all the content you share up here. Super appreciate all your friendly guidance and encouragement.
If I can offer you some advice on the name, don't overthink it! I stressed about that SO much when I was starting, and it really slowed me down! And even with all that, I changed the name of my business twice before settling on PTTP. 😅
Great content!!! Exactly what I needed to know! Have been thinking of doing this for a couple of years now but wasn't sure how to proceed.... your step-by-step process makes it seem quite do-able! Thanks for your time and experience!!!
I'm slowly working my way up to adding ceramics to my artistic offerings and back when I decided to be more serious about it I found your earlier video about doing a product drop, noticed you had fantastic pottery videos, and have followed along since. Thanks for the great content!
What an excellent video. Thank you so for sharing your process. Been making pottery for over 30 years but have never tried online (tech challenged). Will not give it a try.
Thanks for this overview…you’re amazing with sharing your learning. You’re also so organised with marketing! I hear this from many studio potters that they hate social media…as for me, I hate table sales so SM would be my method too.
Great video, thanks! I use my apple smartphone for photo taking… 1. What app do you use to sync your 35mm to your iPad? I’m assuming the phone can also be synced? & 2. I need to organize my photos on my phone & iPad…any suggestions? Maybe folder names?
This is very useful. I am collecting advice about white glazes at the moment. Could you please tell me what you think the best glaze is to use in top of speckled clay. Glossy and matt. Thanks
Hallo liebe Mia!
How do you reconcile all the time you put into making your work and the amount of $ you actually make. There's creating the form, trimming, drying, firing, surface design, glazing- for me right there I'm probably making a very little per hour. The ad all the stuff you just explained in this video. Photography (time consuming), posting on social media, inventory, packaging and sending and if you're doing art fairs, packing up heavy boxes, travel, setting up, talking with people all looooong day, packing up again, travel again. If you think about being paid hourly, it seems you'd actually be 'loosing money'. how do ya'll reconcile this? is it just a labor of love thing and if you sell some pieces that's a little extra treat? can a single person really make a living at this or do you need a wealthy partner? 🤪
Thanks so very much! This information has been quite invaluable for me, I am attempting to begin an online pottery biz in March. I appreciate your guidance THANKS HEAPS
what type app do you use for the camera shutter on your iPad? I have been going back and forth to snap pics or set the timer, while not being able to see what I am photographing.
When you post on social media…do you use the same video/photos/content on each platform (insta,Fb, etc)? Or do you have different stories/content? @DYPottery

After you didn't have any sales from your first shop update, how long did it take to make your first sale?
