      Yes I owen the camillus carnavior x and used it on my moose hunting trip in Maine and even i didn't go through a brik or cinder block or cut wire with the hook. The hook is way better field dressing game and handling fire wood and other tasks at hunting camp I've not making any complaints about it's preformens . My self I'm a veteran and outdoors men and hunter and bush crafter r.stark

    That's pretty impressive, I got my son one of the early versions of this knife and he managed to break it on a pine knot pretty fast. I felt bad, it was his birthday present. Ended up getting him an old timer bowie instead. Wish they had THIS version available when I bought it.

    • @squirrelpower1666
      @squirrelpower1666 3 роки тому +1

      The first version was indeed flawed. It wasn't full tang, and the short tang was very narrow. They would all break at the same point in the handle.

    • @adamarthur9672
      @adamarthur9672 3 роки тому +1

      I had an early version of this knife and with literally only 1 hit on a pine board the blade snapped in half.

      I picked up a used carnivore X recently, just took it out to the woods and was testing it on pine knots, along with my RMJ inspired homemade tomahawk(not full tang, imitated Contours of the head with Hickory handle). The carnivore didn't last long before it got waves in the edge. The hawk did well and kept an edge but split the handle.

    Thank you for getting rid of my fears! I bought the knife knowing nothing about it besides it was a Camillus, I have two of their pocket knives.One was my grandpa's and they stay sharp for a long time. I'd looked at reviews and people said it would break in half on them. Found your video and now I know i'll have this for a very long time.
    Thanks again!

    When you did the pull up test I was hoping for your sake the blade didn't snap, your neck or face might have been cut. Thank you for your testing on all the blades so far, you do valuable work. Just an idea, maybe put a couple of strips of duct tape covering the blade edge and the saw toothed spine...

    should have done the chicken test

    • @reuben4710
      @reuben4710 4 роки тому

      I love the chicken test,
      I find it equal to a 1/3" pine dowel wrapped 4 times in duct tape, if it makes it through that, it will make it through a chicken.
      The problem with chickens is
      1. Cutting through the feathers without pulling them out.
      And 2. Making it all the way through the skin and nerves, if it's dull it will just pull them down into the log without severing them.
      I personally use a $4 24" Chinese machete that I modified by removing and re-grinding the edge, and making a wood handle.

    I've owned mine for a year now and have hacked through a hard wood table top so I was impressed with that but this video is above and beyond. You show the extremes this blade can handle which at times (.50 ammo can, and pull ups) made me as a blade lover cringe bad. Yet the proofs in the pie, this knife is well worth the cost at the big W store or the online A store.

    for one thing the primary use for this is cutting through green limbs and tree branches in the woods. not treated lumber. this blade slides through green wood like butter. same with the saw. it is the best bang for the buck no doubt. thanks for the video.

    • @MayorFuglycools
      @MayorFuglycools  8 років тому +1

      For sure ! I test the treated lumber, as it is somewhat harder than a standard green limb. I am glad you loved the video, and I hope you check out more videos ! Thanks for watching friend :)

    • @firstchannel217
      @firstchannel217 8 років тому +2

      The Carvivore XZ is just the newer model. I bought the Carnivore X for $16 cause it didnt come with the smaller knife that was supposed to be with it. The "anti-theft" packaging is what I have to thank for mine. XZ Should hold up the same as the X, just stay away from the one with the rivets, that's the one that'll break in half.

Many have said this machete is meant for clearing brush and other small tasks. After what you put it through I will probably get one. However, as you pointed out the vibrations in handle other youtubers said the same.

    • @JiBKinG
      @JiBKinG 7 років тому +1

      A.J. Rusinek I had the x. The tang wasn't the problem that held up. When I was cutting wood it chipped a cunck out about 1in by 1 in in to the belly of the knife. It was the heat treat on it was far to brittle for what the knife is intended to be used for. They gave me a new one and same thing happend

    Looks alot like the bk3 but with a saw on back, longer, cheaper, and I doubt Ethan Becker had anything to do with it. But mayor I do enjoy your videos. I laugh at the people that don't get it they say why would you do that with a knife. But they don't understand it's not about that it's about seeing how durable it really is! And not to mention there are tons of blades out there that can make it through your test. Keep up the good work good sir and please please please be careful. As you do for the most part

    Normal stainless steel would have shattered. It proves titanium bonded does hardens the blade 3 X. I just got the more recent Injected model by Camillus, but for what it gains it loses on some qualities. This model handle ergonomics is better whereas the Injected has more grip due to the material. The Injected blade is a few grams heavier and less sharpened, more suited for chopping then slicing like the X model. The Carnivore X can be compared to a Scimtar and the Carnivore Injected to a Gladius short sword the way they can be handled. They should try to come up with a third model that combines the ergonomic handle and shape of the X with the grip material and sheat of the Injected. Maybe it would work!

    I bought one of these blades at Wally world just to keep in my RV for splitting down firewood. It does that awesome! For $30, its really hard to go wrong. If you're an extreme survivalist who requires a blade that can cut an AK 47 in half, this probably isn't your blade. Get ready to drop at least three times what this blade costs if you are going to bet your life on the performance of what is basically a camping tool.

    I bought one from Academy. The blade broke clean in half on a small branch blade went flying & could have seriously injured someone. I was very disappointed.

    I've been ignoring these knives at Walmart for a while...but for something to have when I go fishing to cut through crap that has grown in the paths or to cut some branches to use as makeshift fishing poles I wouldn't mind it. and spare my ka-bar kukri that date and save it for zombies and/or terrorists 😂

    Run the buck 119 through the gauntlet

    • @beltfed4624
      @beltfed4624 5 років тому

      No need to... The BUCK 119 would break rather quickly. The tip broke off of my 110 while I was opening a clear plastic clamshell package. BUCK heat-treats their steel to be very hard, which holds an excellent edge, but the trade-off is that they become brittle. They are made for hunting and light duty work, and for users who are very careful with their knives. I also own the BUCK MESA 632, it's somewhat more forgiving, but I'm not willing to gamble on doing anything extreme. The 119 is a great knife, it really is, but it's not meant for heavy duty use. Longtime BUCK owners have learned this through making a few dumb mistakes, they are for lighter/finer work, and as long as they aren't pushed beyond their limits they'll hold up great. The tip on my 110 was reprofiled and is back in the saddle, with no further issues.

    A lot of people say Smith & Wesson makes lousy knives (and some are pretty bad), but one of the best bargains out there is the S&W Homeland Security fixed blade knives. I got my 7Cr17 for $29.95 at Amazon, and I'd love to see you review it. It's very rugged but is the steel a liability (it used to be 440C) or is it a good balance between toughness and cutting ability? Again, I think the HS is one of bargains of the knife world. I've got one in the trunk of my car because it's a good self defense tool, plus it's great for getting snow and ice out of the wheel wells and for many other purposes. It slices paper like a thinner knife and is virtually indestructible. It also is a cool knife to fool around with.
