FUCK what the haters say, she is literally the perfect choice for ariel. the little mermaid means so much to so many people (especially me as a young gay kid growing up). the message behind the original of feeling like you never fit in, or wanting to escape the world you feel limited by is so real & reigns true for so many, ariel has always been my favorite bc she's optimistic, & a dreamer. so the fact that a bunch of ignorant & racist losers are upset that she isn't their ideal casting need to get over it & take a good look at themselves. halle is about to serve!!! she deserves nothing but praise & love. this film & representation behind her casting means so much to so many, i'm gonna need a whole box of tissues for the theater because ive been dreaming of this rendition for years!!
She is pure gold....Her beauty is amazing and also delivers her inner grace. Her voice....no words....magically haunting. She is truly fitting and elevating our so beloved Ariel role. The full cast and movie look stunning. Can't wait.
Halle told Melissa McCarthy (Ursala) that it felt like she'd broken her neck flinging her locs back after the very first take of "Human Ariel" popping out of the ocean. Then she had to do it several more times in in order for the cameramen & camerawomen to get every different angle the director wanted for the editors to work their magic. They probably felt heavier & heavier after each take they asked her to do. I'm sure her neck felt hella stiff when she got home. And even worse when she woke up for call time the next morning. Hopefully this movie will be worth all the pain she experienced & then some. She also had to swim in a huge underwater green screen tank all day long. Learning how to swim with a motion capture suit and her fin attached to her until she had to swim with her 2 legs. The director wanted her to look as close to what the audience thinks a mermaid should actually swim like. Her mermaid fin swimming lessons were taught by the mermaids who perform for one of the many Cirque du Soleil shows you can see on the Los Vegas Strip & the shows that travel worldwide on tour.
I watch the original when I was kid wrapping a bath towel around my head and whipping it around, lol. Hearing Halle voice, gave me shivers and made me cry. Cant wait to watch it and hear more of her singing. Also Ursula, she was my fav villain as a kid, fabulous. For those those haters out there, GROW THE F UP, It’s 2023
