Watching this on my big screen. This is reminding me of the last time I drove through Atlanta and I was alone and feeling so car sick. I had to stop as soon as I was able to. I told myself never again! Ugh! Thanks for doing these travel videos. It makes me like I’m in the car. I don’t miss that traffic though at all.
Despite the traffic…… Atlanta is one of the greatest cities in the US. Great weather, economy, people, nightlife, so many trees, entertainment influence….. list can go on. Not many big cities do it like the ATL

Those buildings you saw as you got on 285 west were the king and queen buildings, part of the concourse office complex which is, in turn, part of yet another one of Atlanta's skylines, Perimeter Center, which is in dunwoody and sandy springs, two actual suburban cities in the metro. As you go from 285 west to 75 north you'll pass Cumberland/Vinings and its office towers and business complexes, yet another skyline of the Atlanta metro.
I've lived in east point, west midtown and now perimeter center. I've liked all of them for different reasons but, perimeter is super convenient to almost everything
that other skyline you mentioned in this video at 44:42 as you was on interstate 85 going over the bridge, that other cluster of tall buildings and skyline you saw off in the distance was the buckhead skyline, buckhead is a expensive area of atlanta and is where a lot of celebrities live and have there multi $million dollar condos.
When they said grew to 500k people that’s just the City limits of Atlanta. Not counting Marietta, Sandy Springs and all the other large cities in thst area. But if you count them all your looking at around 6 Million people out there.
It took me at least 3 hours to get through the Atlanta area a couple years ago coming north from Florida to Illinois. It moved most of the time but it just took forever and there is not other way around it either.

That other skyline is buckhead. One of the many skylines of Atlanta. And buckhead is actually in the city limits. Not a suburb. GA 400 used to be a toll road. Not anymore.
In a way, ATL kinda sorta has two Downtowns. Atlanta proper and I think the other is Bankhead or Buckhead. I'm trying to familiarize myself with ATL because I plan on moving there in a year or so

I’ve lived in a small town my whole life, right? Never seen more than 3 lanes of traffic. I gotta go through Atlanta to get to Florida. End up getting on 75 by 285 at 8am without my glasses and a full car of kids. To say I about died of a heart attack is an understatement.
The best time to go through Atlanta is between 2am and 4am. You can even drive through downtown on 75/85 without too much traffic at that time of the morning.
I feel ya. I make this drive from Macon, GA twice a week to make deliveries for a private baker. Tuesdays are ok, but then Fridays! I joke, yet seriously to make a point to my company heads that when traffic comes to a dead stop... I'd jump into the back of the van, crank up the music, and jam out! I kid, but at times, I probably could! I learned to make the best out of the worse. Defensive driving is a must when you least expect to.

@@jzoedua80 That’s not the only major reason. Atlanta I-75 is the gateway to Florida for many people from the Midwest, and vice versa. Atlanta is the Black Mecca in America, people flock there like they did Hollywood back in the day. Huge music industry, Huge movie industry, and it’s located in the Southeast…which has the largest concentration of Black folks than any other region in America.

I think traffic in Atlanta is horrendous. Their must’ve been at least 3 accidents. I honestly think the traffic is worse than NYC. Seems like their city grew faster than the road infrastructure can handle.
Houston and Dallas freeways are 4 and six lanes on each side across. Freeways stacked on top of freeways. There is no comparison. And thats not to mentioning the HOV and 3 Belts that circle the city.
My personal opinion is Dallas the spaghetti bowl. Houston has outlets depending on if u want longer routes. 610, the, Belts, Sam Houston Pkwy and parts of 99. Atlanta traffic wasn't bad. It just moves slower.

I live in Atlanta North Georgia my travel to work downtown Atlanta is awful in the morning around 7:30am. It’s not bad people moving to get to work but afternoon 4:30-6pm traffic is the Worst. I love ATL so much culture.

Atlanta isn’t dead yet. 😅 The metro is still the third fastest growing in the country, and the city was actually the fastest growing (percentage wise) city over 250k in the country and sixth in raw numbers for 2022-2023. 23-24 numbers will be released next May.

Coming from up north from St. Louis Police are out restrictively all the time with the restrictions laws . In Atlanta don't have those restrictions like up north. That's literally impossible. The majority of the population are not from Atlanta, they are from different parts of the US and the world. The south side burbs tend to be truly southern, but to say the entire population is country absolutely not.

Oahu, Hawaii also has bad traffic. The H1 east and west bound and also the Pali which starts north bound then turns east bound really really bad.
