    I hope that with all these people visiting Japan now that they don't just treat it as a form of Disneyland, but try and learn something for it and ask themselves "what makes this such a nice place to be?" and bring that back to their home countries and try to make a positive change. For example, building high density, big investment into public transit, cleanliness, and so on.

      Totally agree! Traveling holds value in the fact that you get to experience new cultures, ways of living and political situations. I would love to get punctuality of trains in Japan here in Germany haha. At the same time it's important to not idealize those places for isolated facts but grasp the full situations. I think many things like the cleanliness and the obedience to rules in Japan stem from the core of being a collectivistic culture.

    That motion blur photo of the rickshaw and the two people taking a selfie is so good! What a fantastic moment to capture.

    Great pictures and like the creative swirls. We were there in May. Got up early, to beat the crowds at the Bamboo forest, but still kinda busy. Did a lot of walking. We did a boat ride up the river and then visited a tiny temple up the hill. TFS

      We were there in May as well, who knows maybe we were there at the same time actually! Sounds great, being able to go to those places early is another advantage to stay in the city for longer. It took us some time to commute which is why we couldn’t be there super super early

    Nice video this Karin. Interesting things I spotted: the person stopping to bow at the gates 12:58 and at 13:15 the women only sign on the train windows. Subtle cultural things I guess.

    I like your train station shots. The last one with the framed gate is great, too.
    💯agreed on walking around residential areas, those are my most cherished times in a foreign city.

    100% agree on just wandering around the suburbs, love the shot of the bike and the truck at 8:55. I walked around Fushimi Inari after sunset once and it's quite a scary place in the dark, but really interesting. Another lovely Japan video!

      @KarinMajoka  Місяць тому +1

      Oh I can imagine that it's scary! We spotted a couple of wild boars in the forest, it took us some time to figure out where the noises came from haha. Thanks so much for your comment Norbi. :)

    I'm glad you allowed yourself to visit the Evangelion. Sometimes we just have to allow ourselves to have those moments even though as you said, from a photography perspective, we might not have much to show for it. I love it. :) Always looking forward to your work and your videos.

      I didn’t even know this statue exists before, so I absolutely freaked out when we passed it on the train haha. My wife wasn’t as convinced about the extra stop at first (she hasn’t seen the anime at that time though, so I don’t blame her) but overall we are still super glad we did it! Thanks for your comment :)

    Great video! Relived my last year trip there. We had a long tired day at Nara and on the way back pushed my tired kids by bribing them with ice cream to climb up Inari. Some of the shots were very similar in same golden evening light of the smaller gate and the station. I think i even got the same cat lol

    • @KarinMajoka
      @KarinMajoka  Місяць тому

      You did Nara and Kyoto in one day? Woaaaah sounds like a packed day! And fueling up with ice cream does not only work on kids luckily haha. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it :)

    Diese motion-blur Bilder sind soooo cool! Die sehen so gut aus! Ich muss sowas auch mal versuchen. Mein Gehirn ist nur nicht ganz in der Lage dazu zu verstehen, wie ich das auf Film am besten hinbekomm :D

    • @KarinMajoka
      @KarinMajoka  Місяць тому +1

      Ich mache es irgendwie auch viel zu selten. An sich ist es echt nicht so schwer, man muss eigentlich nur die Verschlusszeit verlangsamen (ich glaube ich war so auf 1/15 ca?) und die Kamera beim Abdrücken des Auslöser bewegen. Macht echt Spaß :)

    Ohhh, Japan has been on the list for a long time. So envious. Trees, if they are like that, then wide-angle (20mm FX) and then crop in 6x17 that sometimes give a very interesting positive result.

    • @KarinMajoka
      @KarinMajoka  Місяць тому +1

      Japan definitely is a bucket list location! That's an interesting idea regarding the crop for tree shots, thank you! :)

    you should give a visit to Shimogamo shrine and kamogawa.
    kamogawa is usually a popular place but shimogamo shrine is a place many tourists dont know.
    And they hosts japanese style weddings sometimes, so you might want to check out that place.

    I can’t believe what you packed into one day. How did your feet survive? I really loved Kyoto, and cherished the quieter areas we were able to find.

    • @KarinMajoka
      @KarinMajoka  Місяць тому +1

      Yeah, it was a bit much, not gonna lie 😅 We even explored the Nishiki market area and had dinner there before going back to Osaka that day. The quieter areas are surely a reason I would love to come back (with more time at hand) one day!

      There was so much I wanted to see around Arashiyama in one day that I walked about 18km. Tiring but saw so many things including the monkey forest, bamboo forest, Otagi Nenbutsu Ji, Tenryu Ji and Adashino Nenbutsuji. Great video that brings back good memories.

      @ I think we averaged just below that on a daily basis for 16 day trip. Spent 4 in Kyoto and could have spent the whole 16 days there. Just means I gotta find a way back.
