I know this is old, but I just got a new natural gate and I was surprised to see that the power cable that comes with it is set up for shrouded headers, which I thought was pretty nice. Takes the guest out which is not that hard but still.
very nice review!!! thanks! I love my NG a lot too. The only thing I still try to understand, I originally bought it to pair with Jupiter Storm for percussive sounds and I feel the NG is too much aggressive for this, at least the way I patch it, for short decay and closed filter it leaves only very sharp transients with no body, but opening it a bit on the other hand immediately makes it unfocused and too harsh kinda...maybe it is just JS that is not the best pairing with it (or me, need to modulate it with envelopes maybe?...)...other standard sources like saw, square, fms etc. sound very nice and awesomely punchy and snappy! What do you think, maybe it is not the best for percussive sounds from noise sources..?
I would say this is because of the envelope shapes of NG. The initial decay is very agressive which is why you get these sharp lifeless transients. Also, maybe the character of a LPG isn't the best for noise-based drum sounds, maybe a VCA would sound better since it doesn't kill the high frequencies during the decay period. But the first thing you should try is patching some proper AR / AHR envelopes into the CRTL input and see if they sound better with linear or just slightly exponential decay.
This is very nice but frankly I am extremely missing a CV over envelope amplitude. It is automated in this case. Also in high tempos this module will have a higher amplitude by default which limits sound design capabilities. All around a good LPG, when you need a module that gives you a quick "pre-tuned" lpg to put your sounds through without much attention to detail in your own sound design (because the module attempts to do it for you)
I always think of snapping a fat rubberband when I hear a good LPG. That’s generally the sound I’m looking for. Excellent LPG. Wish I could afford one in a timely fashion. Lol

Eh, I think it is a bit expensive and wish their production turnaround was a bit quicker (it sounds like the next couple of batches should come fairly quickly now), but it is a brilliant module and really packs a lot of functionality into 12HP. It’s really not a terrible value compared to a nice dual LPG and dual envelope generator, and it takes a couple of modules to imitate the voltage memory effect. I finally decided to preorder mine and hope it comes sooner than later.
I finally got my NG and I do think that it’s well worth $420 (what I paid after shipping). Not 100% sure I need it since I love my Sputnik Quad VCF VCA, but the NG is brilliant on a whole other level and I won’t be parting with it soon.
For a non-vactrol based LPG I’m BLOWN AWAY. Has that almost “gummy” gooey sound of a great LPG when the saw went thru it. The nailed this
Always wondered why this module was on the more expensive side… makes total sense now.
Mine just arrived today, thanks for the tips
Very well explained! Thanks.
These auto translated subtitles are so absurd on an Alice in wonderland level that I wonder why it writes Rubber Elephant, and not Rabbit Elephant.

Absolutely unique!
that Does sound really nice :) great vid
This is weird....but you have a beautiful voice. Excellent review.

thanks for your quick reply, yes, my thoughts also to try to tame it with ext envelopes :) will check and report..!!
@@MrRostislove Selling your NG? :)
Noam Ben Shabat oh sold already ahah
good video
does it have and use real vactrols?
No.

what similar module do you feel is better for controlled sound design?

Naaah :( It/s mindblow awesome module ... but... there is nowhere that i can buy IT .
superbe module
Point of language use: not “literally poured their hearts”. It is figurative. If anyone literally poured their heart into something , they’d be dead.

Cool module but insanely overpriced.
I'd love to see a comparison against other LPG's. As of right now, this just seems pretentious and over-priced to build up a "boutique mystique". meh.
dunno, seems like a lot of love is built into this thing
