The kitchen reno is going to be so exciting when you finally decide on everything! We were with someone on Saturday planning our new one in Cannes and I've decided I have to have a gold sink so that's our budget already blown!! Your Wren-appointment outfit... IN LOVE!
Howdens were great - they do trade prices and so our builders were able to pick up the order and their kitchen planner was great!

We had the same experience with Wren kitchens went to have a look around the show room and have a chat to get some ideas but felt pressured to make a booking on the day... when the designer went off to get the photocopies of the design she had planned (but we didn’t really want) her manager appeared asking what it would take to shake and do a deal on the day...totally put us off...way to pushy!! Ended up with a fantastic kitchen from Howdens (gloss/taupe units and White quartz worktops) and my husband fitted it (he’s a joiner) and it looks amazing!! Can’t wait to see yours Emma so exciting!!!
We have just finished assembling our IKEA kitchen and are very very pleased with it. They have designed it in store in 3d so we would see it and than everything was delivered within a week. The only issue is the delivery company they work with and the waiting time on phone with customer service. The kitchen itself is really nice. Although we didn't get all the appliances from them, because some of it was ridiculously expensive.
I LOVE the cricketers inn! It’s so fun being there in the summer when they are playing a cricket game opposite! Literally couldn’t be any more British 😂

Happy belated birthday, Simon. 🎂 Nice looking kitchen plan you designed. By the way, quartz is the very, very best maintenance free countertop. We have had it for (16) years and it is like new. Love your outfits this week, Emma. Those brown snakeskin colored boots--wow! Darn, every one of those coats are so perfect! Gush, gush. Howdens all the way! We had a terrible time with Wren, they are really pushy and they’re more interested in sealing the deal than getting the design right. Howdens are also wonderful with returns and covering the cost of the joiner if anything needs swapped.
So looking forward to watching the kitchen reno. I'm just about to do mine. I want that cashmere robe! Have a great week you two xx

We had the exact same experience at wren and they were so pushy we went with howdens in the end half the price and looks amazing we did spend money on the worktops from another company. which makes it all looks slightly more high end. X
I designed our kitchen in 3D on Ikea website. We bought it and installed it ourselves and we're very happy with it. :) Happy Birthday, Simon!!🎉🥂

I have my pull-out bin one side of my sink area and the dishwasher the other side, so they are both very close to the sink. I find this very handy! Looks beautiful!

Loved, loved, loved the cable knit sweater with the zipper! And those black boots (biting bottom lip in ecstasy) so exquisite! The jammies and robe looked oh so comfy...I’m a little jelly, actually.

Definitely recommend Howdens. We bought ours from them in the summer, the Fairford design in dove grey with white sparkle tops, looks amazing & feels great quality. They also are happy to negotiate on the price they quote! Good luck with it all! X

We are building a new house and chose the same countertops that you did ( Aspen) . You will love them! I feel like they look so much better on a larger surface than the sample looks due to its size. Hey Emma, tips on howdens. We got our kitchen there and we love it.
The price you can haggle them right down. Our kitchen is twice your size of your (not boasting for perspective) with a huge island and I negotiated down from 8k to 5.5k. Their biggest competition is benchmarxx if you take your design to them and ask for there best price Howdens will always beat it. You should be able to get a really good deal x

Hello Emma, happy belated birthday Simon! Two tips do not get marble counters by STAIN horribly and not sure if it's the same in England but we saved a nice chunk by doing the demolition work ourselves good luck with your kitchen.

Love watching UFC on Saturday nights here in CA with my hubby! Right on, Simon! Have fun doing your kitchen! We did ours with custom made cabinets! That way we could make the the perfect width and added little corner shelves for decorations! Sometimes the standard 24” depth is too deep Etc. 😘

I think it is still trade only as we had to have a builder with an account for howdens for them to come and measure up/design. 👍
At the start of the video I was going to comment saying "go for Howden, not wren!" and then you said you were looking at howdens :) my dad fits kitchens and always uses howdens, he only ever hears bad things about wren and never recommends them.
Love that cashmere robe! You could wear it outdoors too. V V excited for the kitchen renovation! Looks like it’s gonna be really nice. Consider what stones may stain your work tops though. Xx

Ahh, the Chief Measurer is at it again! And at least you're using a tape measure, my husband and I used our baby's son's toy caterpillar that was 2 feet long(to measure babies, NOT furniture) to measure furniture from IKEA! Happy birthday Chief!xxx
A couple of my friends have got Ikea kitchens and love them might be worth another look good price too.

Good luck with the renovation guys! My auntie recently used Wren and has been really disappointed with the level of service. They measured her kitchen up and everything but her oven is off-centre and two different worktop thicknesses arrived and they said it was her fault and refused to refund (even though they took all the measurement etc?!) I have used DIY kitchens recently on my own kitchen and have found you get Howdens/Magnet quality at 75% of the price. You do the design yourself but you have ultimate control over the kickplates, end panels etc which are really the details that make it a wow-kitchen. Might be worth a look. Can't wait for the reno vlogs!
Also when I went to Wren (for my own kitchen) I said I was an architect and could potentially forward them furutre work from my own projects and could I have a discount. They literally knocked 50% off - shows you what sort of mark-ups they are working to!
DIY Kitchens also have good online planners you can use (I sound like their salesperson I know but they were honestly great)

Just my experience with the glass/ceramic smooth cooktop - I found that it's not the easiest to clean. Things get burned onto the surface and are hard to scrub off without scratching the surface. Of course there are some expensive custom cleansers and tools that work, but after I ran through the samples they gave I didn't want to pay up for cleaning products. Also can't cook anything if the electricity goes out.
Thanks for letting us know. We hadn't thought about the power cut scenario but in the 8 years we have been here I only remember it happening once so 🤞
Emma Hill I just use a wet sponge with a bit of fairy liquid. Give it a good wipe and dry with an e cloth! Sparkly and shiny again. Does the same job as the special cleansers.

We had the same kitchen experience... we went to Wren and I was seduced by their fancy showroom and VR but they couldn’t do what we wanted their options were actually really limited but found they were quite affordable. We went with Howdens in the end as they could do exactly what we wanted, initially they were quite pricy but they knocked some money off when we told them the Wren quote. Starting to have the new kitchen installed this week and I can’t wait! (Especially for the dishwasher and the bin drawer!) x
