My home town. I recognize 3 of these. Used to ride my bike to the top left corner one. They had a free puppet show for kids once a week over the summer. Fun times:-)
Thank you for this wonderful and informative video! My husband and I were married on the front porch of the Gassaway Mansion in 1999. Such a beautiful place! I was always fascinated by the history of the house and it was a dream come true to be married there! I enjoyed hearing about all the other beautiful homes in Greenville as well. I hope you do more of these in the future!
Thank you for your kind comments and for watching. I am working on another historic homes in Greenville video now. The Gassaway Mansion is probably my favorite home in Greenville and that is not a slight to the others at all.
Thank you for sharing information about the Wilkins house on Mills. Thank goodness it was saved. I have my hair fixed once month across the street. New to Greenville, I use this site as a landmark. I love this beautiful house. Its like a welcome home.
This brought back so many memories. I was born and raised in Greenville, S.C. I know where every house is located in your video. I have been to most of the homes in this video. I drove a school bus for a school field trip in 1985 and it was a tour of some of Greenville's historic homes. There is a rich history in Greenville. I know the area has changed a lot over the past 15 years. It's good to see it's past thanks for sharing this. I'm looking forward to your next video.
Thanks! I enjoyed putting this together and I am going to post another historic homes of Greenville video soon. There are more homes than I could cover in this one.
@@placesandspacesintime4417 do you know anything about the Frank Lloyd Wright home off of N Main? I used to live in that neighborhood and I got to tour the house, one brief time.
@@Neddoest I'm up there 2-3 times a year now. Before we sold our house in 2017 it was nothing to take a weekend trip to Greenville to check on things. I moved in 2008 I still have family in Greenville and when I call or text them they're always telling me how much the area has changed.
Really enjoyed this video. I have lived in or near Greenville all my life and love all these gorgeous homes and their history. Looking forward to upcoming videos.
Just moved here and love the area. Thank you for the time and effort you put into this video. Funny fact, at playback speed of 1.75 he talks as quickly as someone in Boston. Love the slower speed down here
Thank you for this video. I love learning about historic buildings and appreciate the effort to keep from destroying the various architectural designs. My husband doesn't so this video entertains me without having to drag him to various locations when visiting other states.
I live in southern Greenville County. I have always loved that house on 25 (Fork Shoals) I have always wanted to go inside it. I hope they finally fix the house up to its former glory! I heard a rumor that Doc Holiday had stayed at that house. Not sure if it true. I remember when The Wilkins house on Augusta st to Mills Ave. Thank you for showcasing some of the beautiful homes in Greenville SC!!
Thank you for watching. That is a great story about Doc Holiday. I do know that he had relatives in the upstate of South Carolina. I believe his father was from Laurens County.
New to the area we moved here from Florida in November and we live in Taylors, I would love to know more about some more historical places around here...I love learning about the history about different places
Wow I recall this house next door to BeeBees or very close on Lauren’s road. Can’t believe the amount of historic homes GVL has torn down. I am thankful for our city’s historic homes stories captured by this creator!
I just moved here wondered what that Wilkins house was all about. But once it’s moved it’s totally changed as you can see as it sits on the truck. So it’s not the same as it once was correct?
The way it looks now is how it looked when it was originally built. After Ms. Wilkins died, it was sold to a local funeral home, and they painted the house white. Once it was moved to its current location, it was brought back to its original look. Thank you for watching!
I read a lot of articles and material when I did this video. I also talked to a lot of people in Greenville about the homes. Words are not exclusive to one person. All the videos that I do I put them in my words. At any rate, thank you for watching the video. I really appreciate it.
Thank you, I love visiting historic areas on You Tube
So enjoyable ❤

My favorite small city in the USA!
It has certainly changed a lot in the last 30 to 35 years. I have been around here my whole life and the changes in the area have been extraordinary.
My grandmother actually use to clean the home on Augusta Road, and she actually recalls seeing slave receipts in the home.
It is always interesting when someone has first hand knowledge of these locations.
Wow!That's sad.
As I passed by the Wilkins house recently, I wondered about the history. Thank you!
