God I miss the 80's!! I was 19 when this came out so I was in my prime party year's ... We played the shit out this...Now i'm 46 and things just not the same. O well that's the way she go's...the way she fuckin go's!! Growing up is over rated . THANK YOU KIM!!!
Right up there with Hendrix, the Beatles, Stones, Jeff Beck & Rod! One of the most powerful soul ballads ever recorded in the history of Canadian Rock! Quintessential writing and arranging, not to mention some of the best sounds ever put to tape in the eighties! Thanks Kim! D.J.Bingham
This song goes right to the soul, of summer days of yesterday, feelings that last a lifetime through. Kim Mitchell solid understated Star material. I feel special to have grown up with these tunes. Thanks Kim hugs ANGEL M
Still love seeing the band. Always liked Peter Fredette and think it's great he's still in the band. All we are is still one of my favorite Mitchell tunes. See you in Ottawa this summer.
Great song and as others had said the backup singers voice in fantastic. Thankfully living on the North Coast of the US we can get an unlimited supply of great Canadian music beamed across Lake Ontario. Thank You Canada !!
I just listened to this for the first time a couple of minutes ago on 96.9 Jack FM . I was in tears. Wow. Kim Mitchell is Canadian? Amazing. 80's music is the best!
I am 52, been studying music and bands since I could walk! This is as good a tune as every written on the planet!!!!! Amaaaazing writing!!!!! Amaaaazing musicianship and vocals icing on major good cake!!!!!!! Kim..you sure can write! Beauty! Tim Fitzpatrick/Collingwood (now Wasaga Beach)
Dang, that keyboardist's got a hell of a voice! Some friends of mine went to work in Alaska one summer, and brought home a case of real Canadian Molson. It did taste different than what you can buy in the US - it was real good!
Excellent comment. I didn't even KNOW Kim Mitchell was Canadian until recently, and my experience was similar to yours (discovered him on a radio station).
I saw Kim and Co. in concert in 1984. The sound was superb. They did almost every song off Akimbo Alogo and some Max Webster standards. Kim and the guys only played for 1 hour and 20 minutes that night. Everyone I went with thought this was a little short but liked the performance. I agree that this music could have broken big in the U.S. given the chance.
I just seen Kim play in Gage Park in Hamilton on Aug 04/2007 for a Y108 Picnic, with Goddo, Teenage Head, Tomi Swick and Priestess it was awesome, the 35deg. heat helped, we had to keep going to the beer garden to cool off.
Steacey,Great to hear from you and I saw your vid with Roger in it . Man you guys bring back old memories of 019 in Petawawa, wow, those were the days man! Burns
3 Canadian music videos (that I am aware of) were filmed outside at the same building used in this video..(Sunnyside Pavillion on Lakeshore Blvd, Toronto) Kim Mitchell- All We Are Chalk Circle- April Fool Tu-I Used To Cry

Just sitting here going down memory lane getting blasted on Black label Supreme. What an age of great music the 80,s were - minus the hair bands, Flock of Seagulls, and the other no talent PRODUCED bands. Kim was one of the best. OHHH... the memories!
the deep bass sound at the beginning is that of an AKAI AX-80 synthesizer. it may be layered with electric bass guitar, but the overall tone is from the said synthesizer.
Kim sure lucked out when he discovered this unknown musician to sing this song. The vibe in the studio must have been unreal. I can just imagine Kim thinking "wow, I'm going to make a lot of money out of this one song".
I didn't know that Kim didn't sing the high parts in the chorus himself. I am proud of all the wonderful rock up here. When I performed this song with my highschool band I sang the whole thing, because i thought that's how he did it, lol
@lindaroth Kimbo is singing the verses, and the towering Peter Fredette is handling the chorus. Great recording all 'round; and every bit as good live...
max webster all over this. thank goodness rush liked this guy. great composer and good songwriter. now come back and bring this melody to this time and area so that music can make a comeback. put a canadianpalooza together. OOOO i know, saga, kim mitchell, gino venelli???, geddy lee, paul schaffer, ian critchton & neil peart. now thats a band! i'd pay big bucks for that.
is that peter fredette or geddy lee..lol..anyway peter has an amaxing voice as well as being multi-talented on keys bass and rythym guitar...this band kills it ...
kim. if you even look at this crap, i dont know, i would, if i were you, ok...........anyway, your bad ass. still are now. you wrote stuff we still love. amazing.
God I miss the 80's!! I was 19 when this came out so I was in my prime party year's ... We played the shit out this...Now i'm 46 and things just not the same. O well that's the way she go's...the way she fuckin go's!! Growing up is over rated . THANK YOU KIM!!!

Peter Fredette's vocals in this song are amzing. he makes the song.
Kim and Rush make me wish I was Canadian! I open a Molsen to your great country's amazing musical talents.
The first time I heard this song was on an early sony am/fm walkman being broadcast in fm stereo and it was....fabulous!!!
Kim is now an Afternoon Drive DJ on Toronto's Iconic and legendary FM Rock Staiton Q107.
This song goes right to the soul, of summer days of yesterday, feelings that last a lifetime through. Kim Mitchell solid understated Star material. I feel special to have grown up with these tunes. Thanks Kim hugs ANGEL M

This is an amazing song, not just the guitar, but the lyrics. Strikes right down deep, this song fits my relationship to a tee.
Great song and as others had said the backup singers voice in fantastic. Thankfully living on the North Coast of the US we can get an unlimited supply of great Canadian music beamed across Lake Ontario. Thank You Canada !!

Kim Mitchell is THE Canadian National Treasure of rock.
All the more so for his seeming disdain of celebrity...
Thanks "kurdtss" for the memories!
Kim is on the Q radio station in Toronto as a dj sometimes and he is really good too.
I saw Terry Watkinson (original keyboard player) play a few times back in the late 70's. He was way out there.Great keyboard player.

@rockerrod100 You're allowed to play them more than once you know.
And Kim Mitchell will perform at the CNE Bandshell in Toronto on August 18.
I didn't know that Kim didn't sing the high parts in the chorus himself. I am proud of all the wonderful rock up here. When I performed this song with my highschool band I sang the whole thing, because i thought that's how he did it, lol
This is cheesy 80s greatness.
