- After 28 years in retirement, Eddie Murphy got on stage at the Mark Twain awards and gave an oustanding comedic performs in his 6 minute acceptance speech. This is the COMPLETE acceptance speech that he gave for receiving the Mark Twain Prize. Only snippets have been released so far, possibly because Eddie disclosed the total earnings the committee raised from the event. In addition to making fun of Bill Cosby, he also made fun of the fact that, though so much money had been raised, they had no intentions of giving him any of it.

@@divinestrength1774 There's too much truth in his words for him not to be my #1. Having a really hard time coming up with someone who I would push him off the pedestal for. Rickles? Heart says yes, brain says no. Chappelle? Same. Jerry? Not on this earth. Hedberg? No. Pryor? Big impact, some of the biggest, but Carlin is still teaching kids the truth to this day.
I'd say Chapelle and Bill Burr are the current top American comedians.

That Eddie Murphy isn't doing stand up anymore is a crime against humanity. He is the definitive standup comedian and with RAW he did the best stand up show of ALL TIME. I'd pay to see him do it again - word for word. No one does it better than Eddie and I honest doubt anyone ever will.

What would you prefer if it comes out and he kills it but you find out most of it wasn't his own words? Or if he kills it (or even if it wasn't killer) and it was his own writing?
