Without realizing I wrote this I listened to this song again to sleep. The same image comes back at me every time. Many one day I will visit that place IRL

Either could work but the daw would give you more control. With a daw like ableton you could record each loop to a separate track and if you have a midi controller with faders you can easily mix elements out and in. Some loopers may have similar functionality but they will probably be more expensive than getting a cheaper controller and mapping it.
A lot of it has to do with the low pass having low resonance. I also set the cutoff to follow the key tracking. I only used one oscillator with the pitch being modulated by the lfo.

Thank you! I made these patches myself. I periodically wipe the microkorg to all init patches to encourage myself to program new sounds.
