This looks like a Northern Shrike or Butcher Bird. They are miniature birds of prey and will take almost anything they can subdue, that includes other small birds, reptiles, mice and even small squirrels along with an endless amount of insects!! It's does seem a little unusual to see the parent bird give the chick such a large portion of food though. They are called "Butcher Birds" for a reason. They typically will impale whatever they captured on a long thorn on a thorn bush or tree. After impaling their prey on a long thorn they usually then start to pull the prey apart into more manageable pieces for their chicks. It truly was impressive to see this little one get the whole lizard inside of it. I've often wondered how baby birds are able squeeze such large foods inside when, at times, the food is even bigger that the baby bird!! I think this video gave me the answer to that question though. It looks as if the baby's powerful digestive fluids start to break down whatever they are eating even before it's all the way inside. That might be how they squish something that large inside of them. Owls will also swallow their prey whole, but then, after digesting it, they spit out a "pellet" that's made up of bones, teeth, hair, feathers and all of the things they can't digest. These kind of birds along with many other kinds, swallow everything and digest ALL of it!!! That is very powerful digestive fluids!! Still, that was way impressive!!
Northern Shrike is a pint-sized predator of birds, small mammals, and insects. A bold black mask and stout, hooked bill. The bird featured in this video doesn't have a hooked bill, it looks more like a Gray Catbird!
If it has skin and bones and internal organs, sometimes when they are liquefied by the digestive acids into chyme, it all will shrink down and dissolve, and cause excess air space to be let out. If you've ever seen a snake eat a frog you'll know that the frog or toad will get much smaller because the air and empty spaces in them are being squeezed out. The chick is definitely doing something similar to the lizard or gecko it just ate.
Look at the bird's beak, it is not made for tearing prey. Compare that beak with raptor beaks. Those are made for ripping and tearing, which.they do along with their feet/talons. Bringing prey that is too large is a common mistake that parent birds make. This chick was fortunate that it didn't choke. These parents usually bring bugs of all types. Let's see if the parents learned anything. It's both parents that are feeding the chicks. You may not realize that the parents are identical, so let's not forget dad's part and mistakenly credit mom for everything.
This is equivalent to a mom bringing home a whole rotisserie chicken for her 2 month old
Choking & shatting on itself.... Classy bird....
Kinda like humans in that respect.

@@jayhouse3149 Yes, This bird is not shrike. Shrikes have hooked bill and black stripes on head.
Keep your small children away from these chicks
Alien digestive fluids

Super film 👋👋👍
So....this is why we call certain humans....bird brain!!???🤨
How can he even fit that lizard in his body? Looks bigger than the bird itself. He shouldn't be hungry for a while.

Mãe tá preocupada!
That may be the dad. Parents both feed the chicks and appear pretty.much identical.

It's a common mistake among many bird parents.
Isn't the mother bird supposed to peck away pieces of the food and drop them in the chicks' mouths?

Where in the hell is baby going to put the big lizard? Surely his crop can't tolerate the size? And I imagine his stomach can't either? He can choke
Yes,yes.
Ido not believe this, mother no have good sense.
Te vas ah jamar todo eso?😳
Makan yang melelahkan baby 😢😢
Sir, my i know what's your camera use?
se va ahogar
Mother should have broken it up and made it easier to eat. I was wondering if the baby bird survived. It was too big for it to handle.
These birds aren't equipped to do that, they would require a beak like a raptor.
Vai morrer sufocado. É golosso de mais😮
Mother bird want kill the baby?
She no have good sense.
Help the poor baby@❤😂
It may have been the father, this is a common mistake, lucky the chick didn't choke.
Chicks are always asking for more if they're awake.
Aja bucho.

Baby bird probably died from asphyxia or indigestion
I think too...did you see the eay it was breathing?...
Se habra salvsdo o habra muerto?
Greedy..... Now I wish another bird would come along and eat it while it's eating the lizard....
Why is it the chicks fault?
I am watching but I dare not to see it😢😢
Only one gets to eat? Mother let's one chick eat everything while the other gets nothing and wails for food? WTF?
The parents generally carry a small amount of food, that's why BOTH parents are feeding.
2min longer and the shit die ^^
