09:40 I don't miss those days of digging huge holes to retrieve a ferret and although I loved working ferrets for a decade or more as soon as I got a rifle (and less time for rabbiting) the remaining ferrets were given to my gamekeeper mate along with a gigantic hutch around 10' x 4' x 4' which they loved. It had a nation of drainage pipes in.
We had loads of great days out with the ferrets up in the hills.
    Good to see you out.

Thousand Yard Stare I get what you mean, but I guess it’s just one of those things we actually enjoy and hoping there’s a reward at the end of it. “Never leave a ferret behind!” 😂

@@GeordiehuntersTV For sure if I had the time I'd love to go back with the ferrets and some digs were rewarding. Most of our permissions had huge sets so we got very few hole-ups. Best days were a combination of using ferrets on large open bank sides (with no nets) and lying down about 40 yards away with a .22 popping the rabbits off as they came out of the hole. 99% of them would just bolt from the hole and then stop to sit a yard away from the hole, looking around, which allowed for a clean shot, shot rabbits rolling down the bank and a pile of rabbits at the bottom of the hill by the time the ferret(s) had worked the sets. Most sets were cleaned out by the time it would have taken to net up if we'd been using nets.
That only really worked on steep bank sides as it relies on having the rabbits roll away from the holes out of the way of the ferret(s).
I'm with you on never leaving a ferret behind as they're part of the team.

By the looks of things, the Ferret won but the hawks lost twice! That'll give you the chance later on to see the hawks capture the next rabbit! The hawks were getting hasty at around the 5:00 mark. You held the hawk back twice, but even after you let her go, it was still a miss! Overall, I'd say that everyone tried their best. One of you was using some sort of a metal detector device of some sort. What was that?

JeremyThePlayer88 It was the first time they have been on fur and they were slightly overweight. We’re yet to get out and try again due to the inclement weather but we’ll be recording and posting the results no matter how bad.
The item we were using was a ferret location device. The ferrets wear a collar that can locate them from a 15ft radius and pinpoint down to 15cm if used properly. Total godsend of a device!
