I'm really glad you guys were blessed with good people of Quincy, and that's nice of Altra to send you new shoes. Can't believe you only had 18 days on them. Another day, another mile. Good hiking and Happy trails guys. ✌

The Forest Grouse call is distinctive and resonates long distances across the terrain from their tree top perches. It's one of the unique bird calls in the high country of the West in Spring.

Mixed company times many days on the trail, you will see everything eventually. Love your style and production. I am your parents-gramps age the full exposure happened sooner ( grins) PS, I am not an Altra fan on the trail for 2x bad experience on durability.

I don't know how Corey could walk with a load that BIG... little alone backpack with a full pack. One hell of a man! LOL
    Keep reaching for the peaks!

The Sierra Buttes are beautiful. The birds that ask for cheeseburgers up there are mountain chickadees.

During your Arizona Trail thru hike. I jokingly suggested a change of trail name to Snowqueen, I'm not sure, that it doesnt still have merit ;-). Glad to see you are seemingly out of it. Go Rocket and Long John.

Love your videos. Dixie fire cut us off last year from section hikes. Glad to see things back open now. Question if you have time to answer. Really like both of yours hooded sun shirts. Where did you get them (orange with paisley)?

Even as horrific as the 2020 fire was here in the Santa Cruz mountains, every time I see other burn scars I feel so fortunate we have Sequoia sempervirens which mostly shrugged it off! Just 2 years later the understory's pretty thin but if you didn't know what to expect you wouldn't know it burnt in most areas. 🌲🌲🌲

ask one of the locals for some fishing line. use that to tie up the holes. it tends to hold up better than cotton thread.

My friend is used to seeing me overweight so she thinks I'm emaciated but according to BMI I'm still in the overweight range. Seeing pics of people sometimes their face is drawn and maybe their underweight.

I swear, the snow may never go away this season. As you head north, I'm excited to see you experience Lassen and continue north to Crater Lake.
Speaking of the Dixie Fire, any thought about getting around Lions Head in OR?

The Sierra snowmelt is actually about a month ahead of normal, although the next 500 miles of trail is not as high and there should little if any snow. The higher parts of Lassen still have alot of snow but the trail avoids those areas. The Wasington cacscades have alot of snow but its melting fast.

I know that you were Air Force but take a lesson from a very old grunt. The issue boonie hats with the fine mesh bug net spares you a lot of discomfort. Good Luck, Rick

This is not directed at you, but it's directed at thru-hikers in general. As a former thru-hiker myself I'm somewhat peeved at the overuse of the phrase "the trail provides" mainly because it just isn't true. What you're experiencing is called 'confirmation bias', you're looking for proof of what you already believe that the trail will provide for you when you need it to. So you ignore all the times when the trail did not provide. In actuality you yourself and coincidence is what provides for you on the trail. The trail itself has nothing to do with anything and it's kind of dangerous to think that it does because it might make some hikers put too much faith in a faulty belief and get themselves into trouble. An efficient thru hiker always has to be aware that they are the one's that make their own luck, they are the ones that provide for themselves. Any help you get from coincidence along the way is just that, pleasant coincidence.
