      When I saw the lengths they would go through to get a story/to control the narrative and pay huge amounts of money to get any kind of info on their victims. Then, when you took us behind the scenes (as it were) and gave us such detail about selling ads, etc., that really was an eye opener.

    🙉🙊🙈 Thank you...your educating the masses who have no clue of what it takes to do this work...we go-to the movies and enjoy but have no idea about how it got made...Live to Lead is a prime example of some folks not understanding when H&M got involved what it took to get that stalled project in front of eyeballs, yet they accused H&M of wrong doing and being money grabbers, not knowing what went into it to finish it...thank you again...have a pleasant evening

    Thanks Lauren. I realised way back that H & M had a different work ethic than what the tabloids put out. As journalists the media seem to peddle more hate than truth in that they appeal to people who doesn’t seem to engage with critical thinking, by checking out things for themselves. It’s like knowing someone is easily angered and doing something l know would trigger their anger. It’s really irritating to read some people’s posts where they haven’t given serious thought to the headline that has captured their attention and jump in before they question it. I guess this is the broken world we live in and everyone has to decide how they react when they are triggered.

      "everyone has to decide how they react when they are triggered"
      this right here is brilliant. It is that small pause to think before typing or speaking, to determine how valuable the point REALLY is, that makes all the difference.

    Excellent podcast Lauren you are quite correct I don't even watch CNN anymore because, they seem to be catering to the drama instead of giving us straight news. This is the era of fast news that as unhealthy as a bag of cotton candy, so now I only get my news from PBS.

    • @officiallaurenbrown
      @officiallaurenbrown  Рік тому +1

      Hi Lorna! Yes, PBS is pretty good, although I find they can have a small conservative bias at times, but not nearly as intense as some other channels. It is really tough to find pure news these days. But I think that reuters is pretty good too, and I also watch al jazeera (rarely, tho). I also will check out Times mag and the Times. Roland Martin, Christiane Amanpour. I find the most important thing to do is to remember the location of the news source (which city/country are they in); the individual delivering/writing the news (how old or young are they, what is their political leaning in general with coverage, the educational background - school is good but experience counts just as much and sometimes MORE), and I try to look at the overall tone of the channel or newsite -- do their articles ALL lean to a more progressive or conservative narrative? Do they have pieces that include actual analysis multiple points of view? Are there articles from writers on all sides who can BACK UP their theories with FACTS? Is their newsroom meaningfully (not token) diverse: in areas of race, gender, religion, sexuality, culturally? Also, MOST important to me, does the news site or channel use a certain style of HUMOR? Because you can tell a *lot* about what an organization is REALLY like by what the higher-ups will allow to 'slip through', on the basis of something being 'funny'. Women's health and safety issues, especially those of Black/WoC, are NEVER funny to me.I make a pass for humor only when we are talking about ACTUAL comedians and them promoting their work - but even that has limits. MODERATION is what is missing from modern news today.

I would prefer the anti-fans hear this in a calm quiet setting in private, where they won't feel so publicly pressured to change their minds or else they are 'bad people' (which they have not been accused of by me). People tend to be more willing to change if they feel there is a way to slip into the new thought pattern that allows them to save face and keep a bit of their dignity in tact. Glad you enjoyed the video. My new unboxing video today is light hearted and a nice contrast to this tougher video. Have a looksee!

    Hi Lauren. You are so gracious by explaining the entertainment industry to the unaware. Yet, haters and tabloids will never acknowledge anything positive about our faves, H&M. Fortunately, we Squaddies know that Harry and Meghan are blessed and covered by a force stronger than such toxic energy. Plus those full of venom folks refuse to realize their negative projections and sentiments can't stop H%M. "Burn, baby, burn!" People with kind hearts always thrive and I love it for H&M! When H&M first arrived in CA, I recall billionaire Mark Cuban predicted that companies will be happy to partner with H&M and throw money at them. I hope Harry and Meghan accomplish all they desire. Thanks Lauren. Take care. 👏👏

      Heyy Joan! I think you are correct. In so many ways. H&M will be okay though. And I expect very little in the way of growth from the tabloids. They, like many major corporations run by conservative Men of no Color tend to only make positive changes where there is a legal or economic penalty for FAILING to change. I know there are just some absolutely clueless bystanders who have no idea how they are being used as pawns to make $$, like chips in a poker game. It is a sorry state of affairs!

    Great point about how the American style of working, especially in entertainment, translated so well for Meghan and made them all feel intimidated. A lot of detractors try to hate on Suits, but whether you liked it or not they had 9 seasons, most of them with 16 episodes. Even very successful British series, like The Office, tend to max out at 3 seasons of anywhere from 4-6 episodes -- maybe 8. Meghan takes *that* level of experience in consistently delivering in a role and puts it into her other activities, and it would have been such a win for the monarchy.
    But they can't get past their egos - excuse me, tradition - that tells them they should get unquestioning admiration for doing things like showing up to a food bank emptyhanded and unprepared, or picking at the sleeve of a child because they're afraid they may catch some melanin if they engage with her like a person.

    Good Saturday morning, Lauren 🌞♥️ Wow, this podcast should be be seen by all of the Squad. Sometimes, we do click on articles and watch shows to defend our favs, often not realizing, we are supporting the process. To your 1st point, I would like to add, here in the US, we do have the advantage of space. To continue the "dream", we could move state to state and reinvent ourselves. So, it's easier for employees to go job to job for various reasons. Often jobs are just fillers (temporary) and/or stepping stones to something better. Maybe in the UK, a job in the palaces or government, are seen as top positions? I don't know. But here, there will always be something better. Beyonce is also seen as a very tough or bad boss. I would recommend people watching just 1 of her behind the scenes videos to see for themselves. She is a perfectionist boss and requires her employees to work to keep the persona upfront and in your face. This is how she sells her craft. This is what we pay for. Archewell is doing and will do the same. Quality productions and content, viewership and eventually advertising will be key to its success. It's going to be hard for the leaders and employees, but they all will make it work. Long winded just to say, loved this podcast 🤣🤣🥰 Have a Blessed day 🙏🏾♥️

    • @officiallaurenbrown
      @officiallaurenbrown  Рік тому +14

      HI Eleanor! Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Yes, the US has the advantage of being a larger economy overall so there are more opportunities to move and try building a life somewhere new (*some caveats apply, like for people with records, illness, or new immigrants, etc.). Also, Beyonce is known not for being a bad boss, but a tough boss whose perfectionism delivers results. She is someone whose demands deliver results, so I think many people have come to understand that her exacting requirements, and the people who have requirements like hers (at least in US working context), are a ticket to having a successful outcome most workers can be proud of. Unfortunately because we live in a sexist and misogynior-ist world, strong command and excellent leadership by Black Women/ Women of Color is unfairly maligned and undermined as being mean or bullying just to excuse the bad faith workers who do not want to see Women of Color succeed. Thankfully, they are not the entirety of the workforce. Most people can tell when a boss is tough but fair, versus mean and bullying. Most people like a boss with a clear vision, I've found. Also, Beyonce is constantly thanking her team for the many long hours they put into their work, and she is usually working right alongside them or working elsewhere, so they know she, like many Black female leaders/bosses, is walking the very same walk she demands of them. Okay... I'm off my soapbox. Your comment was really good and got me thinking! Thank you!

      @@officiallaurenbrown Thank you for explaining the Beyonce point in depth. I know a lot of people believe Jayz is not good for her, and in some aspects, I agree. But overall, his position, power and money offers a level of protection from outside influences/agendas designed to bring her down. Certain organizations, I believe, have always been present to limit, halt or control her projection. You can trace this back to before Destiny's Child. The illuminati trope (which most Black people don't know, was started by a white guy early days of UA-cam) The Beyonce vs Aliyah; the Beyonce vs Rihanna; the Beyonce vs Jennifer Hudson. The negative influence of Beyonce on the Obama girls (although this was meant to shame the Obama's into disassociation) Then FOX news biggie, Bill O'Reilly's campaign to discredit Beyonce as vulgar and not fit as a role model. He too, like Piers Morgan with Meghan, challenged her to come on his show. Like, really, dude? All of these things were prevalent and some still are, in our media. We didn't fight back because, we too, had an underlying belief that with fame comes bad press, crazy fans, death threats, etc. I think Harry and Meghan have changed the game a little bit. We are seeing a reflection of our own media in how the UK media's underhanded contracts are playing out on the world's stage. Maybe??😶 US media is going to fight against the changes needed, but in essence really doesn't want to be seen as the world's worst. But we, the consumers, have to keep vigilant and keep calling the media moguls out. Perhaps the best example of where we are headed is a good long look at the media in Russia. I'm rambling, but my point is, we have to stay vigilant. Stay focused. Stay prayed up. 🙏🏾 Keep supporting the good works of Harry and Meghan and the love they represent.♥️

      @@eleanorpatterson6201 Wow, you have many thoughts.
      Listen, my videos and my channel are solely to promote the positive side of life, hence my "Have Fun. Live Well." tagline on my banner. I talk about the Sussexes solely as a Meghan fan, and not for any other reason. I try to make that clear as often as I can. I am also not a Beyonce stan, I am actually just and only a casual fan, who just happens to respect women who work hard (i.e. Rihanna, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez). I do not like to talk about celebrities and their personal lives, because I do not know them, and I do not believe that the 'negatives' come with the territory of being famous. Famous people are still human beings. I also do not think America's media is anywhere close to being similar to Russia's. It can be easy to lose that perspective if one has never experienced actual dictatorial censorship. I have a lot of optimism about the future and that is the ONLY reason I discuss the Sussexes, bc I see their POSITIVE impact. Conspiracy theories (even simply mentioning them) or stories about spouses... not my bag. I hope that clears things up a bit.
      Have a great evening Eleanor!

    Great explanation of how things work. Meghan and Harry are successful business people, some people can't handle it, as it makes others look bad and lazy.
    You were clear and concise, but unfortunately some people won't re-evaluate their opinions straight away, some will refuse to see sense, some who enjoy their rage will be unmoved and some will continue, as they've got use to feeling a certain way. There will be people who change their minds, more will eventually take their blinkers off, I feel it will take a while to get there, but the day is coming.

      Hi Creative Liberdade! Great point, some people won't re-evaluate their opinions straight away, some will refuse to see sense, some who enjoy their rage will be unmoved and some will continue, as they've got use to feeling a certain way."
      I call this, Emotional Inertia: the refusal to experience the discomfort of change when maintain the status quo is more more COMFORTABLE.
      Yes, you can call it cognitive dissonance, but I tend to think that cognitive dissonance also has a more neutral/benign/fearful ignorance to it. I use emotional interia, because many of these people know their views are messed up, but they LIKE the laziness of not changing their views to adapt to a more progressive thought pattern.
      Great comment. Gave me something to think about. Hope you watch my lighthearted unboxing video today to destress!

    Meghan was the biggest thing to happen to the RF since Diana. The RF were shocked at her immediate popularity work ethic and success. The fact that the cookbook is still selling till this day says it all. Apart from Diana and Harry no other member of that family has been so productive in terms of real life impact.

    There are ppl are making a living off of hating them and everything they do. They talk about Archewell but clearly have no idea how a foundation works. It's just hate for clicks. I'm not a fan of H&M or the RF tbh but any genuine critique of either seems to have been drowned out by the Piers Morgans of the situation.
