The winking maid usagi looks good actually. I have a bootleg dancing pair figure from wish. Its actually quite good for a bootleg
I only get bootlegs when it's something never created or or original is WAY too expensive or is no longer out and over priced by sellers.
I've built model kits my whole life so I just try to buy from verified sellers on WISH it ones that have 500+ rating on their page.
And if the bootleg is still a lil off, I just repaint.
Easy. Just put it under warm water or hair dryer till you can bend stuff to normal or take apart the statue for an easier repaint. They're statue anyways so repainting them is okay. But figure wise... Hell no. Can't repaint that, bootleg joints always suck.
Only statues can get away with it.
Just look at the reviews from the sellers and your good.

Considering the lack of saftey/health checks those bootleg factories in China have I seriously wouldn't doubt that they probably use the cheapest and most toxic materials to make em... with cheap paints and plastics who knows what toxic chemicals off gas from em especially with heat applied just to move the parts 😞

They actually look good especially for the price .. Of course not as good as the original but definitely better than some other bootlegs that are straight up abominations. I'd buy them hands down.

As long as the product doesn’t already exist, I don’t mind if it’s bootleg. Like the air freshener. I wouldn’t stick the smelly tab into it. However, I would stick it in my car as a decoration. I totally need that! On another note, for awhile they did release an official sailor moon luggage tag. Aby style had a pink one that featured the crystal star. Aby style sells stuff in hot topic, boxed lunch, and game stop. The one you have is not official but they are a company I’ve seen around. They do general luggage stuff. They have a line of luggage tags that feature various nerd and anime themed things. The one that’s well known, is they have a luggage tag featuring Totoro that’s popular. They are also sold variously in hot topic. However, I’ve also purchased their stuff recently in Walmart.
I like that winking maid sailor moon. The one with both eyes, however... it reminds me of something from the transformers fandom. Specifically the "JaAm" face, which is face made almost exactly like this on a toy for the character Hot Shot. I'm almost tempted to just call that one the Jam Maid, because she's so excited to see that spoon. Most likely since she. An use it to eat Jam.
Some bootleg are decent, others are trash. Buying on Wish takes some risk. They are the cheapest shipping.

I actually liked the ichiban kuji bootleg one and the megahouse maid one with the winky eye, if you look at their knees they are not bent nor touch the same lmao

I rarely buy bootlegs, but my favorite bootleg I ever bought was a Hanako nendroid off of Amazon. The original was really overpriced but the bootleg version was so much cheaper and still amazing quality

I love my bootleg figures. Each one has so much character and it will never not make me smile looking at my Rin's squint eyed face or my Mars with her spotted skirt.

Yea but bootlegs use toxic materials because they're so cheap, why risk your health just to get it cheaper? You don't know if what they used may contain lead in the paints or if the plastics off gas toxic chemicals, it's just all around a health hazard.
Sorry Princess Bara but i never seen someone who got sick because of a cheap figure. if it was a children's toy i would care about it but i will never play with them or something like this to get sick

@@PrincipeMamoru sorry i was on the cellphone and the sepellchecker made me write "princess bara". here in Brazil most of toys, figures and things like this come from china, families buy cheap toys for their kids very "naturaly" in shops that only sells bootlegs things because they're don't have the money to buy original things. i really would like to have only original figures, wow, i dream with it every day but, with the actual dollar price and the expensive tax we pay in like, everything, that's not possible :/

I mean bootlegs -are- bad because it’s ripping off things that people worked hard on to create. Yes it sucks that things are expensive but that’s because they’re usually hand painted or sculpted. You’re paying for the work that went into the figure. And these rip offs are usually not great looking too.... Imagine you created a beautiful statue that you were proud of and put work into and someone created a cheap version online and sold it for 10 bucks just to get some money.
Some bootlegs are nice and I like that it’s a way to get figures that are usually expensive. But you can’t ignore that the practice of bootlegging is inherently bad
The problem isn't just that it looks bad, the issue is how these cheaply made figs tend to contain toxic paints chemicals or plastic compared to the original... with the real figures they put the PVC through a process to make sure everything is safe while bootleg figures don't go through any safety or health checks so essentially they're just all around bad to own.
@@PrincipeMamoru safety materials really matters ? figures are things that everyone put in their shelfs and never touch them again :p
anyway, i live in a country when figures are so much expansive(simple ones took half of a minimum wage) and the only way to have a shelf full of them is buying bootlegs ones or being rich :/ i don't think that the bootlegs figures she showed in this video are too terrible, as she said. (sorry for any english mistake, i don't speak english very well)

Oof. That dented box reminds me of the bootleg bishoujo freddy figure my fiancee got me for Christmas. It was from ebay for 30 dollars I had a feeling it would be a bootleg as soon as I saw it.

I love how in the 90s if I wanted to get bootleg anime stuff I could just hit up Chinatown in NYC, and now here in 2023 I can just get said bootlegs straight from the internet without going into the city... 😭😂

I'd say repaint the air fresheners but hot air may cause the paint to bubble. The winking cup usagi looks good. The crazy eyed one though yeah that's weird.
Back in 2001 I got the " Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Best Song Collection" I had no idea that the CD was bootleg i'll my sister told me in 2015. To be fare the CD still look great, plays awesome and the booklet inside looks good and colors are bright to this day, but am so mad because I payed over $25 Canadian for something that was fake.

That kuji bootleg doesn't look to bad, and the 2nd sitting on the moon item I've been debating about getting for like nearly a year, but didn't cause I figured it'd would be awful quality. But had bought a cheap Sailor Moon break time figure bootleg, and she had the wonkiest face and couldn't even sit down on the shelf flat cause her ponytails didn't lay even with her bottom.

In Little Tokyo in LA, my husband and I checked out a Merch shop near where we parked the car and I found a bootleg item. I was looking at it and my husband mistook my curiosity for delight and took it from my hand a bought it! It was one of those wand charm boxes. The box looks amazing but I had to explain to my husband outside the store what a bootleg was and to not jump at every chance to buy something I look at.

I actually own a bootleg of 90’s Mercury in her finishing pose for her transformation. It was being sold at a kiosk at my mall and though the paint is a bit messy in a few spots it still looks good. You can tell who it is. Plus she’s better than the Jupiter that they had. That poor girl had a missing ponytail because it broke off.
I also got some bootleg plush of a pink Doraemon and a rainbow pastel My Melody. Oh and they actually had some official stuff like a plastic Sailor Moon carrying bag that I snagged for 12 dollars. Has become one of my go to bags to take along when I’m out and about.
I only have the Sailor Moon X My Melody unofficial luggage tag. I thought it was cute :)

Thank you for the review! I still want that manga-style sitting on the moon one, and maybe the ichiban kuji one. I took the plunge and got some different bootlegs AliExpress, mostly to repaint and mod with. Twinkle Dolly knockoffs and sitting inner senshi. Going over going over their collars skirts etc with metallic paints to scratch that "FiguartsZero Crystal line metallic paintjob" itch. They're turning out pretty great, though Jupiter came with a bit of a hole in 1 side and Mercury's bangs piece was put on completely wrong 😂 Easy fix.
The eyes on most of them are pretty damn wonky though so I'm looking to level my modding game up to using waterslip paper to print better eye designs out and blend them in. I legit considered slicing off the facyory eyes in order to reposition them but...yikes 😅
I'd buy the garage kit version of manga-Usagi-on-the-moon but my painting skill is nowhere near good enough. It's pprobably fairly easy to make a better crescent moon for the bootleg out of airdry clay...

This is why I love Wish- you get beauties like these (surprised you didn't get the fake Eternal Sailor Moon figure or the ones that aren't based on original figures).

I'm so upset I seen a chibiusa and Helios figure on Mercari and I thought it was a bootleg because of how cheap the seller was selling it for ( a $100-$200 dollar figure they were selling for $15) so I didn't buy it but beyond further inspection it was authentic and now I'm super salty 😞

If you dont want it I can take it 🥺 tbhh I have never had the experience of being able to buy myself anything of value more than $50 especially for it being a sailor moon item I know they are pretty expensive and I am not the kind of person that has that kind of money either to be able to even great quality buys like that good for sailor moon so for me that is a bootleg that is still pretty good for me to be honest because I will still get the experience of being able to get some thing that is sailor moon based😭😭
I actually got the atsumete figures on Mamas which is the same as wish, and im really hoping they're real the rewiews said they're nice and even posted some pictures but again im praying that they're real. Also they come in two months sooo im gonna have to wait a while

Not all bootlegs are created equal. I've got all the classic style Figuarts Zero figures as bootlegs and some look pretty good considering, others are obviously very poor quality. I also have a bootleg of that ichiban kuji figure, and she is indeed pretty good for a bootleg. The bootleg Figuarts Zero Chouette Serenity is also pretty good.
From what I've seen on eBay, Q-Posket bootlegs and the Petit Chara/ochatomo bootlegs are pretty bad. They're very obviously derpy and off. But the Petit Chara Serenity, both original and manga color, actually aren't too bad (for $5 each).
All that being said, it's hard to be mad at bootlegs for being bad quality. It's much more frustrating to get paint flaws and poor quality of official things when you pay a ton for them.

There's a person at a swapmeet I go to that has lots of em. Got em for $5 each good price considering I actually had the opportunity to pick them out from the copies, some looked a lil bad but I got the perfect ones... For bootleg at least lol

As someone who’s been a long time fan since the 90s and I had only two items from the original lineup that I got at a GameStop probably somewhere between 1997 and 98 or 99🤷♀️.

Definitely toxic! LOL Those air vent pieces get 1st place for worst in the competition. 2nd for me would be Sailor Moon sitting on the Moon with no Stars. Third would be the Ice Cream Sailor Moons and finally, Sailor Moon w/Stars. The best piece to me is the Sailor Moon w/Stars. Thank you for braving Wish for this video.
the thing about Sailor Moon Figures is the originals already look cheap to begin with because Bandai/Megahouse is crap. if only we would get some nice high quality Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Alter, Kotobukiya figures like other Franchises but nope. and when people call Sailor Moon figures for like 90€ (who still look like 40€ prize figures) expensiv they don't have any clue about figure collecting. most decent anime figures are between at least 150-250€. lately there are also various ones for 300/350 or even 400 :D
here in Brazil it's almost 5 time more
expansive and it's so much hard be a original figure collector. the bootlegs isn't that bad too :/

I got the sailor moon A prize figure from Amazon for my birthday, I payed $90 for it but I love it and it's official. It was a good video to let us know about fake and cheap stuff out there. You didn't mention if they have bad smells or if they were gross to the touch. I bought a bootleg once in my life. I willingly got it, so it's not like I scammed. It was a bootleg of a Madoka Magica figure that was 500+ for an official copy. I thought I would be smart and buy a bootleg that cost $70 and had really positive reviews. I got it and it smelled like a trash fire and even if it wasn't dirty there was something about the texture that grossed me out. NEVER AGAIN have I or will I buy a bootleg for any series. If I can't afford the original then I just go without.
I know the feeling you’re talking about, one of my Madoka bootlegs is very similar as well as an old Figuarts Zero Mars that had the same texture and stickyness. These didn’t share that and felt pretty normal. Regarding the smell, I had to let these sit in my house for a while as the rest came in for the video (2 months just about, since shipping from China is a crapshoot) and if they did smell at first, it had dissipated by the time I filmed the video so I can’t comment on that.

that beeing said, i think the SS mayin buu Vegeta i have that is 25cm high, i think that one is fake, because i never saw an official version, nor a bootleg for that matter..
Last week i got my first fake sailor moon merch, glad i could return that junk and got my money back, that same week i ordered legit petit chara figures, and now i want more xD
it's such a shame people spend time on ripping others people creations off, why don't they use all that energy towards original creations.
