Entertaining videos. Another thing to consider and something that is common among hikers is carrying too much food. That's one of the reasons those hiker boxes have lots of good food in them (the other being most people get tired of the food they packed for someone back home to ship to them). I found that I can't eat more than 3,000 calories in a day while hiking, so there's no need to pack more than 3,000 calories per day. Any extra food I end up with as I come into town is just extra weight that I carried for the last 80 or 100 miles. That has led to some strange meals for me - not as strange as chicken nuggets or McDoubles - but one night, I ate a half a jar of peanut butter as an after dinner "snack" because I was going to be d**ned if I had any food left when I picked up my resupply the next afternoon.

Thanks for the great info! Going "no cook", did those Idahoian packs mix up well and taste ok with cold water?

Never had an issue mixing. By the end of the trail I'd open the top of the potato packet, then dump the water / tuna in and stir. No separate container. Let it sit for a little inside your jacket & you're good to go. Maybe a little hot sauce if it's a "plain" tuna packet / not a flavored potato packet. And everything tastes great after hiking all day / hiking for a few months straight.
