Norwich MP Clive Lewis and Wigan's Lisa Nandy have both said they are considering running for the position of Labour leader.
Other potential contenders Keir Starmer and Emily Thornberry have so far declined to confirm their candidacy.
The contest could begin on 7 January following recommendations from the party's general secretary.
And Labour Party officials have suggested that Mr Corbyn's successor will be in place by the end of March.
Mr Corbyn announced he would step down as leader, after the party suffered its worst election result since 1935.
James Clayton reports.
Emily Maitlis speaks to Labour MP Wes Streeting, former Labour MP Emma Dent Coad, who lost her Kensington in the general election and Labour peer Maurice Glasman.

The fact they seem to want to choose a person based on their gender rather than how competent they actually are, suggests they haven't learned a thing.

Labour's plan is specifically aimed at helping small businesses.
The centrepiece of their manifesto was a £250bn national investment bank, backed up by a network of regional investment banks, to invest in small businesses and start ups at a time when proper long term investment in actually productive industries (rather than just financial assets) is low.
We need a green industrial revolution in this country, with millions of new good jobs, lead by small businesses like yours, backed by a national investment plan when the private banks wont step up.

The problem with Labour is that it doesn’t have the self-preservation that is entrenched in the Conservative Party. They choose the leaders they want, rather than the candidate the public wants. The Conservatives do the opposite. Blair has been the only exception to this rule. I think it’s time for Labour to realize that they are attempting to unite two parties, hard-left and soft-centre, under one umbrella and it simply is not working for the electorate. Moderate Labour supporters feel utterly abandoned by this party as it stands today.
That’s why the lib dems are doing so well... oh wait!
The Lib Dems continue to perform badly because nobody regards them as a viable alternative. They will forever be seen as the 'wasted vote' option. It has nothing to do with the direction their leaders decide to take them.
@@judegrindvoll8467 Then their vote would stay the same, and not fluctuate. Yet, it does fluctuate, so there must be another explanation for the impopularity of centrism.
@@antonkarlsson7664 Then how do you explain the overwhelming landslides of 97, 2001 and 2005? We operate a two-party system. Lib Dems fluctuate between 40 seats. The other parties fluctuate between 200. Out of the last 12 elections Labour have put forward 8 left-leaning governments and lost 8 elections. They have had 4 centrist governments and won 3 of them. It's not rocket science.
@@judegrindvoll8467 It's indeed not rocket science. "Third way" Social Democracy was new in the 90ies (when Labour was elected). They still had the confidence of the working class to implement good reforms, and safeguard investments and the NHS.
However, that fascad was obliterated 2010, and since then, Social Democracy has grown instinct throughout the world. "Third way", Blairite, Social Democracy alienated their core base (all around Europe), and could not hold on to the middle class.
Next election, Conservatives will certainly have alienated all of the north and middle constituencies, just like Thatcher did. Only then will Labour have confidence again, and they will have to improve the conditions of the working class this time around, or meet a swift end.
As I said, if centrism was decired, more people would have flocked to the lib dems (like 2010). You can't explain that away.
