    In this video, Mike shows you how to take a noise free Milky Way photo and how to edit with a software called Starry Landscape Stacker. It's a start to finish, starting in the field and then post-processing in Lightroom, Photoshop and Starry Landscape Stacker. This is a more advanced post-processing tutorial. #milkywayphotography #starrylandscapestacker

    Dude!! This is awesome. Love the detail and the presentation Mike, hats off bro. The 13min foreground exposure calculator is a great feature of photopills. The photoshop detail too man is great. Thanks for this!! I like the long exposure blend more funny enough. I thought it would be the blue hour but no.

    Great Video! A few notes: I am a PC user so Sequator is my tool... I always take dark frames too. (Same settings with the lens cap on) It helps a TON with noise and hot pixel removal. It didn't look like that is an option with the stacker you use. On the hot pixel topic... I get lots of red and green pixels that get too hot when I do an exposure over 6 minutes in the summer so I tend to try the blue hour technique but need to work on the blending. I look forward to using your tricks here. An issue with this where there is humidity is the setting dew. By 11pm in Ohio it looks like it rained there is so much dew settling (Tip: A couple hot hand pack held to the lens with rubber bands will reduce this.) Stay well y'all!

    • @PereaPhotography
      @PereaPhotography  4 роки тому +1

      dVos Jay oh yes absolutely! And thank you 👊🏼 the channel I recommend Nightscape Images also stacks the foreground for noise reduction. Definitely a useful technique. Luckily most of where I shoot is dry, but I’ll keep your tip in mind when I end up in more humid climates for sure 👊🏼

  • @steveb013
    @steveb013 3 роки тому +1

    Hi Michael, so if I understand about your final result, 1st , you took the 12 image blend together proccessed in starry landscape stacker with the image you took from the blue hour compared to 2nd , the 12 images stacked (again ) but this time with the foreground of the long exposure ( that is much cleaner ) ?

  • @Speedster2707
    @Speedster2707 Рік тому

    Great vid! What about the fact that the creator of Starry Landscape Stacker recommends including the use of "dark field" shots and "flat field" shots into the Starry Landscape stack? I noticed that you didn't do that (as well as others that use the program that I've watched on UA-cam). Not needed? Also, I'm guessing that you don't need to incorporate LR's new "Denoise" feature for these. I just shot the Milky Way, including foreground (10 exposures) had have the Starry Landscape. Problem is, my foreground is very noisy because I did not shoot a blue hour or time exposure. Would you recommend sending it though Denoise before Starry Landscape? (Will not let me Denoise after because Starry Landscape turns the file into a .tiff and LR only adjusts RAW files for Denoise).

    That's pretty much how I did mine except I use ISO 800 and a shorter shutter speed for the foreground shots. I haven't tried a super long exposure like that. I'm using a z6 II so I can shoot up to 15 min without having to use an intravelometer. I just recently bought the new 20mm lens for it. I've been following Richard for 2 or 3 years. I use Sequator though. I haven't looked at your equipment list yet but it looks like you're using a Benro TMA 38CL tripod.

    Thank you, this is a very helpful video! Are there no other people around when you leave your camera out after blue hour? I would not have the guts to leave my camera out for so long, I'd be afraid it would get stolen 🙈 Is there an app / website where I can see where the milky way will be before I get to a location? Is that also possible with photopills? It happens sometimes that I don't have the opportunity to go somewhere in the afternoon already to use the app and see where the milky way will be at what time, so I am looking for something where I can just check this at home the day before I go or in the afternoon or whenever.. Not sure if that exists though 😂
