look at the tyres - everyone was nursing their worn-out option tyres home. Takuma Sato hat used the time behind the safety car to switch from primes to options for one lap and back(!). he was dead last when the race was re-startet, but with better tyres, he could cut through the field.

Mid-bottom team car (Super Aguri) can compete and pass front row team (McLaren). I can't imagine Haas passing Ferrari/Mercedes without any asist (DRS). Nowadays if noone retired or crashed, we have boring races with no takeover except DRS passings on straight.
And we also have staged passing, like Hamiton on Ocon in Monaco 2018. I doubt Haas will ever be allowed to overtake Ferrari, or STR to overtake RBR, or FI to overtake Mercedes.

When I talk with my pals and F1 comes to the conversation, I always say that Taku was and is a good driver. I strongly believe that he was unlucky, most of the time he would be in teams with unreliable cars. Only BAR was good, and not all the time.
