They are bringing back Covid Lockdowns for the Election (it starts mid-september and solidifies October with TSA leading the march).... 900 level sounds super sweet compared to sheeple
I have been following your journey since your first video about Cerro Gordo. I just want to say that at 3.5 years, the biggest change is how happy you seem and how much energy and optimism you have for everything. Maybe some of that comes from being more comfortable with filming and all, but you seem way happier, and that's really wonderful. You really have created such an amazing thing that so many of us have followed during our worst times, and its great watching it thrive through adversity and how many people have come together to create this community in Cerro Gordo. It's a dream of mine to someday do an art residency there so I too can give back a little bit.
Yes I agree an have noticed Brent really seems so much happier then early at Cerro Gordo. He looks really healthy as well!!! Love the excitement he has for exploring new areas of the mine an restoring the town!!! He’s living so many people dream right now!
Brent I feel both marking and giving names to the burial sites is such a compassionate gesture. You Sir are someone we should truly look up to. And I totally agree - you are a national treasure.
Is it costly to dig up? I am sure there are ways to respectfully remove some remains to identify. Ask the online community, I am sure there are groups that can investigate this for you. It will not haunt you it will be about coexisting with ghosts, not fearing them, you are in a ghost town after all.
He’s an investment banker that burned down his hotel that wasn’t structurally sound to begin with then raised over 100 k from you suckers online to fix it. Wait didn’t he have insurance? Smh what a fraud. Also him and his investment buddies are the ones that bought it.
It would be a very difficult task to identify remains. That being said, these folks are lost to the sands of time. Would be a very noble gesture to try to identify. Love your videos and would love to visit someday.
@@GhostTownLiving If its not about the Cerro Gordo history, it will be about the mindset you show when it comes to exploring (keep persueing your dreams), studying (keep your focus on what you need to know) and expressing yourself in a new age of media (no commercials, no fake personality but just a good informative series about a subject). Really enjoy your video's. Keep it up. Verry curious about the future of Cerro Gorde, and the way your name will be for ever in the local history!
@@fdholley I also find the mines to be a bit creepy .. but only when Brent goes down there alone, for some reason. I find myself holding my breath when he gets into a tight spot - even though I know that he has to be okay because he's uploaded the video! It's just creepy, that's all. And very dangerous!
I watch a lot of exploring videos from people who go into abandoned and forgotten places, in the USA, Canada and here in the U.K. Wales is famous for its Lead & Silver Mines, all carved out by hand. We don't produce enough of our own Minerals today so rely on imports. David in Lincolnshire U.K.
I used to watch these videos every day they came out. I stopped for awhile, and life got busy. I saw this and had to stop by to see what’s up. And I’m SO GLAD I did. This man is a man to look up too, and I hope some day to go out there and see the town.
I'm the exact same. I've been subbed but haven't watched a video in ~2 years. Saw this and clicked. I'm now putting staying in the finished hotel on my bucket list and I hope I get to cross that off at some point
He’s an investment banker that burned down his hotel that wasn’t structurally sound to begin with then raised over 100 k from you suckers online to fix it. Wait didn’t he have insurance? Smh what a fraud. Also him and his investment buddies are the ones that bought it.
I feel like most people don’t want to be forgotten to time. I also like knowing where my relatives are resting. I love the idea of trying to identify those buried there, and marking their graves somehow.
I agree I think if your concern is that spirits would be upset you could put that to rest because you are allowing connections to be made. Even if it’s not family that person has a name and history with the town. This gives this place so much history that can be better connected as each of these people have history and if you can locate more then you are doing more of a service to the town and the person.
Gotta be careful with that, most US states permit exhuming graves over 100 years old, but in many cases you need local government permission, and in some states, even with the 100-year rule, to knowingly dig up human remains - even on private property - is illegal. Definitely want to check using ground-penetrating radar first as well, as you do not know exactly what you’ll find. There’s also the moral issue, which you mentioned.
I think he needs to dig into it a little more with better equipment. Maybe it's just me, nothing against them but I think the man with the dog is just bs'ing. My dog sits down too when I stop walking, just my opinion though. I could be wrong just hope the guys not charging Brent for his services. Brent's so wholesome
*You're a national treasure Brent* *we need to protect this man at all costs* *I remember when you first started this journey and channel* I feel privileged to have watched this beautiful 3.5 YEAR JOURNEY!🤗
@@GhostTownLiving of course Brent!😎 I used to live in both Bakersfield and Lake Isabella,California. Went to high school and college in Bakersfield. Up in the Pacific Northwest now. You're a very dedicated man to Cerro Gordo...and I'm sure that town loves you for it. She's an old town...but she loves you for all you do. I'm surprised more in folks in Kern County don't know whi you are or are willing to come help you out up there. Have a beautiful week Brent.
It's always lovely to see updates, so thanks, Brent. My personal thoughts about recovering human remains, as someone with a degree in archaeology and who lived in China for many years, I would find someone trusted in the Chinese community to work with. There are museums or societies all along the West Coast that would most likely have a specialist, at minimum a historian, to navigate the complicated past. The way I see it is that this heritage belongs to the Chinese immigrants. It's a dark past, filled with mistreated workers who risked their lives to come work in America, only to be banned from the country for years. Like with all cultural heritage, my instinct would be to get the community involved, so that they may find closure or answers.
I agree with this 100%. My first thought was build a shrine, then I thought "..I'm not Chinese.. What do I know?" Ask the community what's the most culturally appropriate course of action, get them involved
Definitely want to bring a community Chinese Buddhist monk/ Shaman in to set all the trapped spirits and free them back home into the afterlife, after doing this you may find things to go easier your way! So much history here and thank you for the content!
@@davestevens4263 I was expecting the same. Likely some mitigation possible via diverting water off road, eventually, perhaps into some mini ponds in canyon bottom, realizing some places the road IS the canyon bottom and making a ditch down the side very difficult at best, possibly making road mainly of large rocks carefully nested in worse areas?
Jesus Christ....I remember finding your 1st video a day or so after it came out and thought that this would be something cool to watch. Never, EVER would have thought I'd be watching monthly videos from you for the next 3.5 years. It's wild to see the progress.
Maybe just marking the burial sites would be fine for now. Making a few signs, writing what you know or think about them... And then adding to it once you uncover more unique stories. We will certainly be waiting for them, Brent. Love from the Czech Republic. 🥰
Hi Brent, I get to relive your vlogs with my dad who is 76 and legally blind now. He taught me how to pan for gold and detect and we went down many mine holes in Victoria Australia. He cannot get out to do any of that now and he misses it the most, so l tell him about your 900 level mine and what you are doing at Cerro Gordo. He loves that you go down the unexplored mine tunnels and the stuff you find. And l like spending time with my dad and telling him what you have been up to. We get to remminess about the mines we went down and things we found or did and l look forward to watching your vlogs and passing them on to my dad. So thankyou Brett for giving us this special time together. ❤
My feeling is that most would want their story told. They would LOVE to see what you're doing with their town and their stories, nobody wants to be forgotten.

As a mine explorer in the UK (Cornwall), I have dug into mines where they have been sealed for over 100 years and such a thrill to be the first back in. Like you, I adore finding the miner's artifacts and fully get your excitement to finding these lost levels. I hope you strike gold with some fine Levi's my friend !!
I'm going to be honest, I have been watching this channel since you have a few hundred subscribers, and I have not missed a single one of your videos. Watching your videos has been exciting and amazing and I am so happy to see whenever you upload something. Thank you for the endless entertainment, and I hope to celebrate 10 years with you someday!
Brent, With humor and heart I say, " Your Ghost town is no longer abandoned. You have the Spirit and love of people from all over the world there with you." Thank you for this journey. It is truly remarkable what you have done and are doing. Thanks for inviting us along for this really cool ride!!
BRENT, your parting words on this video were brilliant! From a broken down 60 year old man…You are a beautiful man and human. The world needs more people like you …Great work!
I found your channel in March 2020 during Covid, so I’ve been here since the beginning and I love seeing the progress you’ve made. Congrats! Can’t believe it’s been 3.5 years already
Man… back at it again with some of the most inspiring storytelling i’ve ever seen on youtube. Thank you so much, Brent! It has been such an honor to be a part of this journey and, in the essence of past present and future, I truly think you are going to be remembered as one of the greatest historical pioneers of our time for years to come.
I first started watching you right after I started bartending downtown in a big city, I’ve always been in awe of what you’ve been doing. I couldn’t understand why you’d want to be alone, and overtime I managed to be friend my now current stalker (I’ve had to quit my job & move 4 hours away) and being in the mountains finally made me understand the need for peace. Life’s been so quiet since I stopped bartending (being around drunks all the time, even befriending them. ) and now the goal is to save up and move into an rv full time with my dogs. It’s not lonely, the loneliest thing is the fear of being unhappy again. I finally made it through the worst parts of my life, now I have to just work toward my goals. The day I’m able to bring the dogs & come see your ghost town will be the day that everything I’ve walked away from, worked so tirelessly towards will let me know I finally made it. Thanks for never giving up!
Wow, it's beautiful. God bless you. 🙌 the better people you put into your circle, the better your life will become. Maybe go to church or something genuine with real down to earth folks!!!! ❤❤❤❤
He’s an investment banker that burned down his hotel that wasn’t structurally sound to begin with then raised over 100 k from you suckers online to fix it. Wait didn’t he have insurance? Smh what a fraud. Also him and his investment buddies are the ones that bought it.
If only the original miners could see how you have carried on the legacy. Not only do you work hard at doing that but the energy it takes just to document it all and share it with us is a full time job in itself. Gotta send you some love for all that brother. Respect!
I’ve been there twice. First time I rode my dirtbike thru to the Swansea- Cerro Gordo OHV route and the second time to look around and buy some merch. That whole area is magical to me. Cant wait to stay at the hotel.
Don’t be superstitious! It would be amazing to identify those folks and find their relatives to give incite to family history!! A great addition to Cerro Gordo!! Plenty of content for the ongoing project!!👍👍👍
Every time I watch one of your videos it leaves me in such a stoic mood. You do a very good job of addressing such huge concepts. Your “paying it forward” comment really set the tone for me. It affirms - in a way - that what we as humans do will eventually crumble and be forgotten by the world, but also perhaps the true human experience is hidden in the “why” behind what we did. There’s got to be a reason that it feels the way it does to slowly discover another soul’s “why”
Congratulations on your 3.5 years! Also, I hope your road recovery moves swiftly and safely! Regarding the remains of the bodies...I think you should let them rest. Whether it is in peace or unrest, you seem to have tranquility in Cerro Gordo, and think this is not the time to invite a disturbance. But! I would recognize the places that the dog detected and leave a remembrance to honor the dead.
i've been drawn in and truly enthralled by this channel. The episode where you lost the hotel was a real heartbreaker. To see everything that has transpired since and all the people that have gotten involved is profoundly inspirational. You really have no idea what you and Cerro Gordo mean to us all.
The new hotel is coming along. I remember how the loss of the original hurt and while it was a great loss, it has allowed you the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Cerro Gordo, the town you love. Feels like God, or the fates or what ever you like, challenged you and you stool up to the call. Well done Brent and all the best to you and those who joined you in your journey. Keep on truck'n!
I CANNOT BELIEVE THATS YOURS! I have passed that lot off the side of the ghost town and only gas station for MILES. I would go to Big pine, Independence and Mammoth CA a few times a year fishing, backpacking, and snowboarding for the last 28 years. And Ive loved seeing everything being added on your lot the past couple years! How wild. I always wondered what was going on there(:
A monument dedicated to all those that gave their lives at Cerro Gordo would be a great way to remember all those lost and buried without names or graves
Miss the desert around the Sierra Nevadas more than I can ever put into words. There's nothing that comes close to rounding a switch-back and coming upon an abandoned mine or camp. Who lived there? What was their story? Their hopes and their dreams? Triumphs and tragedies? I am so envious of your adventure. Although I can not imagine the fortitude and dedication it has required over the last 40 months. Thank you. Thank you for allowing the public to live vicariously through your channel and to experience some modicum of the splendor and beauty the desert southwest has to offer. Irish A fellow Bedouin in spirit
I think purely for safety reasons, you should have internet down on the 900 level. If you plan on spending anymore than a day down there, you should have the ability to contact the outside world in case of an emergency. Even if you choose not to use the internet down there, it's better to have it and not use it than not have it and need it.
I agree, the intercom is cool but it's only useful if somebody is in the hoist house listening. Having internet would be a way to send a signal in an emergency. But I agree with not having internet access is part of the charm too. So if I were you I would install some purpose built internet-connected emergency device, but not a full-on WiFi router.
Man Brent. I’ve gotta say. I watched you from the beginning and haven’t seen your videos in over a year. Knowing how much heartbreak you went through and seeing you still discovering new things and making Cerro Gordo better is inspiring. I know it’s gotta be crazy and hectic with all the permits to build and gathering everyone out there but outside of that it seems you live a real simple life that many dream of. I began watching your story because it was interesting to me that these ghost towns exist and that you decided to live in one by yourself. Now I see all the amazing things you’ve done in 3 years and it inspires me to get back to exploring myself. Thank you Brent for sharing your story and the story of those before you. One of these days I hope to make it out there and stay in the new American Hotel.
I think giving them their space works best for you financially and the spirits. They have accepted you for a reason, and you’re right about not wanting to touch something you’re not supposed to. I think they’ve blessed you to move on, as long as you respect them and the elders. I remember watching your first video, and look how far you’ve gotten. God bless! ❤
I was so happy to see your video again. I have an idea. You said you lost communication at the 400-foot level, and the light idea was good and all, but here's my idea. Put up a good-sized bell at the top with a somewhat heavy-duty rope attached. And set up a system like you did with the light, ie one toll stop, 2 tolls up, 3 tolls down. Good luck Brent
No B.S., follow your intuition on what to do. I think that the buried are there to remind you of the absolute hard life those experienced within the small town of Cerro Gordo. You're bringing light to the subject. Like me, I feel kind of obsessed with history, mostly the history of the old west and the gold rush. Just bring the story to the viewers and you're doing more than anyone before you. Thanks man!
I've been watching this channel for years at this point. I grew up well south of you but also in the desert in Anza Borrego. The last few minutes of this video in which you try to find the words for why you care so much for these things you find so dear; you're a curator. Your fascination, drive and desire to learn about these stories from the Southwest Desert; you have been chosen to curate these histories. Thank you for listening and following it.
As Brent learns, his wisdom of life and living come out for us to learn. I'm of the thought that native indians had special people with in their tribe designated as "Story Tellers", but in reality Oral History. These story's were about events and the wisdom gained from such events. Brent has taken YT to the level of American Oral and Visual History on Cerro Gordo and a very unique niche that he has brought back to life in a unique way. Well done Brent, you are a cut above on this story telling. Looking forward to many, many more years...
I just thought about this. You have been there in a single location for 3.5 years.. I've now watched your videos from my 7th about to be 8th location of residence. Wild!
Brent your connecting the dots in history with souls who did make a difference in our world. Your a history teacher writing new chapters for all us to hear. Thank you for sharing. Cheers from Canada.
Thank you Brent for sharing your life and adventures with us. We've been with you since near the beginning of your journey and me and my family are glad you are enjoying it. We're in Springfield MO. I also think that putting up some kind of monument in each of the places you have found dead bodies would be a good thing. You can't know who each of them were but there place should be recognized and remembered.
I really want to share your stories and your videos with my upper elementary students to show them what learning about our country’s past with passion can be like. You exemplify the passionate learner! I’m on the east coast and most of my students haven’t been that far west so I love how much of the landscape you include in your videos as well as the history, wonder if you would ever make any short clips of the especially historic or the inspirational parts of your videos :D
He’s an investment banker that burned down his hotel that wasn’t structurally sound to begin with then raised over 100 k from you suckers online to fix it. Wait didn’t he have insurance? Smh what a fraud. Also him and his investment buddies are the ones that bought it.
Brent, you bring me such joy. I am unable to physically explore & your adventures are so amazing! Many blessings from a few hundred miles south of Cerro Gordo. And I vote to leave any human remains in peace. If someone wants to create markers for an unknown soul, RIP, that could be very nice, or even one marker/monument. Maybe in the future, a Day of Remembrance at Cerro Gordo for all those who lost their lives. Blessings, Brent.
I feel like... we all should be so thankful and appreciative of all the souls, all the efforts throughout to years put into this and many other towns because it leaves future generations a message of "Hey, this what we did to survive and prosper. This is how we lived in our time." For that, I say TY, we may not know all the names but we know you where there.❤
Good morning from Chesapeake va. Wired internet can only go 300’. Your intercom may not work due to power over distance issues. Even regular land lines are only rated for a 1000’. Instead run a premade 1000’ fiber optic cable. You’ll need converters on both sides but this is a much better option to get reliable internet down there. Also cheaper than your copper options. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Brent. Your history is being made everyday you revive Cerro Gordo. You are literally already a legend and don’t you forget it! Keep up the good work!
I stopped watching Cerro Gordo for a while not by choice, glad to be back. It’s great to see how much the town changed and has grown as well as seeing how much I’ve changed and grown from when I first started watching at the beginning of your journey at Cerro Gordo. The town and I are both in very different places from back then and I’m so very thankful for the growth in both myself as well as Cerro Gordo and this channel. I appreciate the videos Brent, they truly helped me through some of my worst times. Not only did it help me through those times but also gave me a deeper appreciation for life and the beauty of this world. Many blessings brother!!
Stories are how we connect generations. I grew up in Los Angeles and have always loved stories about the people in an area as much as history of the area itself. Through your channel, I have rediscovered my love for the history of the mines, the high desert, and the valleys. Thank you.
Brent, I pray that the remnants of Hurricane Hillary doesn't do any damage there in Cerro Gordo or to the road. That's all you need for that road after it was fixed through blood, sweat, and tears of frustration. Stay safe and make sure your animals are safe as well. Love to see all the work being done on the hotel btw. And it's fantastic that people are connecting with you to provide late 1800's furniture to use in the hotel as well. Thank you for another great update. 👍
I'm not sure if you were affected by the hurricane as my family was but if you're going to warn other people about it at least be some what knowledgeable about it
I am so grateful for you to have this craving for learning what was in the desert. I'm sure your story will be remembered, even if something happens to UA-cam and these videos are no more. What you do, and inspired others to do, will be a significant part of our California history.
I like the idea of making graves for each of the bodies found and work on naming them/finding their families. I wonder if there are any forensic labs/colleges that would partner to help excavate the different areas? i think finding the bodies in the mine and giving them a cemetery would be cool. also marking out and making tent sites at each of the old building spots to get a true sense of Cerro Gordo would be neat.
I remember when you started! Lost interest and track of you for dumb reasons. Anyhow I’m happy to see you at this point!!! God bless you and give you all you deserve 👍
I know I can’t be the only one that worries about being forgotten about when you’re gone. Everyone should want to leave an impression that no one forgets. These graves are people that have been forgotten and I’m sure that’s not how they wanted it to be.
@@GhostTownLiving I agree with @matthewwilliams9883. Were these marked graves that needed refurbishing or relabeling I could understand not wanting to disturb them. To be left, forgotten, on a hillside would be a torment. Also, consider that in finding and properly burying anyone that may be found, you may be giving closure to a family line that has a mystery or big gap in their lineage. It's your land and your call. I fully respect either decision you go with and I understand how that can be difficult. Maybe confer with the locals more and see what their view is on it? Anyhow, your endeavor is amazingly inspirational and I hope to be able to come visit your wonderful town soon!
I feel that when we die, our bodies return to nature and the people who love us are the ones who will remember us. I have four daughters and I will hopefully have grandchildren in the future who will remember me and the love I gave them. Also things have now changed due to technology and social media. We will all leave our digital footprint when we die, memorialized social media pages, thousands of photographs and videos, our whole lives will be documented from birth through to death so we won't be forgotten.
Insane how many subscribers you gained over the years! I started watching you when you were around 80K and thought you might take off, but I’ve never imagined this much success. Keep up the good work!!
Hi Brent. I’ve been following you from France 🇫🇷 since the beginning of you incredible journey. I admire you sooo much ! You are amazing ! You are interesting ! You are courageous ! You are talented ! You never give up even in the most difficult moments ! I am so proud of being a small part of this. You are learning from the history of Cerro Gordo, but you are also writing your own story ! Your name will also be in history books one day. You are such a special person with a HUGE heart ! 🤍
I've been watching you for years! You've come so far!! I remember when you were sitting outside your cabin hungry and freezing cold. Those were hard days. It's amazing to see your town coming together! You have an amazing community that loves you and your town. I hope one day to bring my family and visit and see those beautiful views in person.
Been following your adventures for a couple of years now, and it's just beyond inspiring. I admire your work, and the fact that you want to share everything with us. It always brings me joy when I go on UA-cam, and you have uploaded a new video. Thank you again for letting me be a part of this, even though I am far away in Norway. Wish you all the best :) Rune.
Really do love watching the progress. I really love what you are doing with a historical place. From goofy self challenges to rappelling into the unknown, the journey you let us share with you truly is fantastic. Thank you.
Great video brent! My vote is to Definitely give those lost souls a story. If it was me 6 feet under, i think it’d be great to get some fresh air topside again. 😂🎉
Brent, by telling the stories and sharing your adventures you pay tribute to the people who were there before you. if you dont already have one, create a wall listing the names and any known dates they were there. maybe memorializing this way will keep their names read in the future to come.
WOW 3 1/2 years you have done so much to inspire other people that history is inportant. I always look foward to your latest download, hopefully i will get out there sometime but unfortunatly the years are creeping up on me. but never say never, keep up the great vlogs and love from the UK
21:35. I've been a detection dog handler for over ten years (drug and bomb) and i have to be honest I'm not completely sure on this search pattern and response from the dog team. Meaning I would be interested to know how many of these responses from the dog are corroborated by actual remains. Maybe it was the editing but I heard the handler say "about fifteen" as you guys started from the cabin and walked up the ridge. To me it seemed like the dog was simply responding every so often because he knows he is getting his reward. And the handler rewarding despite not verifying the odor encourages the dog to continually "false respond". As far as the dog goes I didnt even see it "actively" sniffing when he was responding. He would just casually walk in an area, the handler would pause and stare at the dog (A que-ing behavior for the dog which you want to avoid as a handler). When dogs are actively sniffing their nose is to the ground and you can visually see and audibly hear their noses exhaling and inhaling the odor so they get a large sample. 15 bodies on the exact trail you guys walked seems a bit extreme. Unless it was a literal cemetery or something. I'm not accusing anyone of anything or discrediting. I wasnt a cadaver dog handler so maybe its an entirely different world than where I come from but the mechanics of a dogs nose isn't going to be different from what I know and if his dog can accurately find valid odor without having to actively sniff anything I would be truly astonished.
Hey Brent! Hope you fare well in the upcoming rains. Please be mindful of possible earthquakes in the future, rain lubricates faults and the weight of water can put additional strain on tightly wound faults. Take care!
Brent I think it's always OK to honor the dead. Thank you for sharing your journey and home with us. I have been following your first video, I think, and it's been amazing to experience this with you.
What an amazing episode! 👏 This one has it all: American Hotel update, mine exploration, gem & stone working, researching the past, cadaver dog, and local adventures 🤠 what a ride!
Another awesome video Brent. The progress you’ve made in Cerro Gordo is truly incredible. The way you include your viewers in your adventures is a gift. Looking forward to your next video 👍
I’ve been with you since day one and I’m so proud of what you have done to this place I say you should just put up memorials everywhere that furbaby laid at it be an amazing project for you much love from South Texas ❤
Man I love your videos. I love the content, the ghost town, the mines, the history. I love how genuine and real your content is. In a world of click bait and shallow trendy content, your channel is a breath of fresh air. Also you! You seem like such a quality dude! I'll watch your videos religiously. Thanks for doing what you do.
It's a fabulous place Brent, and getting better all the time under your stewardship. These videos certainly help us put our lives back into context and see the bitter sweet aspects of life amid the petty concerns and worries of everyday living.Great videos and commentary, many thanks.
Brent, you always give us so much food for thought. Your insight, reflections and appreciation of the history of your area is inspirational on so many platforms. The unnamed lives lost are more numerous than we imagined. The day to day lives these people lived in their hard work can be appreciated, but then you enlighten us with their hopes and dreams. The sheer panoramic beauty when you stand on a ridge overlooking a valley below and share it with us is more impressive than words can express. It’s hard to imagine a spot in the desert once housed a whole community bustling with man and beast trying to live a life the best way they could in a very harsh environment. You enlighten us with the stories and history you research. It’s very interesting to find so many graves, and how they are unmarked. I feel the same as you…they deserve the respect and dignity where they are buried. Digging them up for DNA disturbs their forever slumber, and will only create more questions than answers. Yes, it may satisfy one bit of information sought, but may also bring awareness to generations of relatives that may then want more than you’re prepared to provide. I say leave them be and keep the spirits at peace. But, keep sharing with us. This is a journey we love tagging along on. Oh…was the purple rock amethyst? It is a type of quartz as well, and is beautiful! Of course there are several purple stones, but I’d think amethyst in the quartz. Thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤
Totally agree. If you can demarcate the area(s), and put up a suitable collective commemorative monument to those who are buried there (no matter under what circumstances), then that is enough. Let them continue to rest in peace yet be honored.
@@georgeattig8088 I totally agree with George. Let them rest in peace. That's much more important than knowing what little you could find from their DNA (even assuming it's possible to get a viable sample from bones that old).

I will bring the gem back up to cerro gordo for an autograph and a picture with brent, you can count on it.. thanks for all the viewing happiness.
They are bringing back Covid Lockdowns for the Election (it starts mid-september and solidifies October with TSA leading the march).... 900 level sounds super sweet compared to sheeple
100% put internet down there, you could do livestreams while chilling down there.
I only have one question....have paranormal things started happening again when the roof of the hotel went up? it is a ghost town..
Thank you so much! I feel happier and better about everything going on as well!
I absolutely couldn't agree more!
I noted how much healthier (mentally and physically) Brent seems, as well!
Yes I agree an have noticed Brent really seems so much happier then early at Cerro Gordo. He looks really healthy as well!!! Love the excitement he has for exploring new areas of the mine an restoring the town!!! He’s living so many people dream right now!
I too have also noticed that Brent seems healthier and happier, not so gaunt and haunted-looking.
Can easily imagine you and this journey being a history class
Oh wow! Thank you. Both my parents are teachers, so I take that as a big compliment.
You've taken us all on a fantastic trip and deserve all the thumbs up. Keep up the rebuilding and going in the creepy mines...best of luck

I used to watch these videos every day they came out. I stopped for awhile, and life got busy. I saw this and had to stop by to see what’s up. And I’m SO GLAD I did. This man is a man to look up too, and I hope some day to go out there and see the town.
My Sister, Brother and I are planning a trip when he finishes the Hotel 🥰

I call bs
@@eddiedutra3359 What, exactly, do you call BS?
@@eddiedutra3359 Not sure what you mean
Sounds like someone is a little jealous.
I feel like most people don’t want to be forgotten to time. I also like knowing where my relatives are resting. I love the idea of trying to identify those buried there, and marking their graves somehow.
My thoughts exactly 🙏🏻💐
I agree I think if your concern is that spirits would be upset you could put that to rest because you are allowing connections to be made. Even if it’s not family that person has a name and history with the town. This gives this place so much history that can be better connected as each of these people have history and if you can locate more then you are doing more of a service to the town and the person.
If you never touch the Graves, at least marking their location would be great
Gotta be careful with that, most US states permit exhuming graves over 100 years old, but in many cases you need local government permission, and in some states, even with the 100-year rule, to knowingly dig up human remains - even on private property - is illegal.

What do I know?"
Ask the community what's the most culturally appropriate course of action, get them involved
I agree with this. They likely have ways to honor those past without disturbing them.
For sure if he pursues that path, the proper guidance is importance. Its a tough history but facing the truth is the best way to approach and educate.

I live in Las Vegas similar terrain. I love when we have a wet monsoon season. The desert is so beautiful when it’s greener.
Great suggestion!

With humor and heart I say, " Your Ghost town is no longer abandoned.
Best of luck to all your endeavors 💓💓💓💓💓

If only the original miners could see how you have carried on the legacy. Not only do you work hard at doing that but the energy it takes just to document it all and share it with us is a full time job in itself. Gotta send you some love for all that brother. Respect!
Brent, it has been an absolute JOY sharing your journey this entire time!
I’ve been there twice. First time I rode my dirtbike thru to the Swansea- Cerro Gordo OHV route and the second time to look around and buy some merch. That whole area is magical to me. Cant wait to stay at the hotel.
I hope you stay safe in those mines. I'm sure you understand how dangerous it is and have taken precaution.
Don’t be superstitious! It would be amazing to identify those folks and find their relatives to give incite to family history!! A great addition to Cerro Gordo!! Plenty of content for the ongoing project!!👍👍👍
I can see that take for sure! Still debating...
Absolutely not... Do not disturb the dead. Especially when you explore the tunnels that they created. Please don't... don't be a statistic.
Also more important to any living relatives if those persons could be identified and add something to their personal histories.
Thanks Brent for documenting your life in this cool town for the last 3.5 years. Heres to many more.🥂
why would you do this for 3 and half years
Congratulations on your 3.5 years!
I truly hope your road fairs well today with the storm.
i've been drawn in and truly enthralled by this channel. The episode where you lost the hotel was a real heartbreaker. To see everything that has transpired since and all the people that have gotten involved is profoundly inspirational. You really have no idea what you and Cerro Gordo mean to us all.
Your videography on this episode is breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I think purely for safety reasons, you should have internet down on the 900 level. If you plan on spending anymore than a day down there, you should have the ability to contact the outside world in case of an emergency. Even if you choose not to use the internet down there, it's better to have it and not use it than not have it and need it.
I couldn't not agree more. At least some form of communication would be ideal. This comment needs to be pinned or at least at the top
Agreed.
I wouldn't be too overly concerned with the internet, and Brent's security he's got it all covered.
Fiber would be the best way to do it at that depth.
Yes bring internet down there! You will even be able to do a live stream at the base camp then! I think that would be really fun.
That's awesome! Thank you so much for the note. I hope you get back out there and explore.
God bless! ❤
We love you Brent!!!!

Good morning from Chesapeake va. Wired internet can only go 300’. Your intercom may not work due to power over distance issues. Even regular land lines are only rated for a 1000’.

Thank you.

I know I can’t be the only one that worries about being forgotten about when you’re gone. Everyone should want to leave an impression that no one forgets. These graves are people that have been forgotten and I’m sure that’s not how they wanted it to be.
That's a good way to put it.
Keep it up Brent. Hope to make it your way from Kentucky eventually! ❤
I agree only as far as putting some kind of markers over the graves...but not disturbing the remains.

Thank you again for letting me be a part of this, even though I am far away in Norway.
Wish you all the best :)
Rune.
You are one of the most inspiring storytellers and speakers I've come across. Everything you make is amazing.
Really do love watching the progress. I really love what you are doing with a historical place. From goofy self challenges to rappelling into the unknown, the journey you let us share with you truly is fantastic. Thank you.
this is amazing. I recently bought back my great grandparents' home in a small midwest home and there is nothing like it.

I am enjoying watching Brent learning how to be a great story teller. The camera work has grown exponentially. I enjoy watching him chase his dreams.
So many try to do a fraction of what you have done and failed. You are beyond impressive and I am big fan of your style.
Cant wait stay in the hotel once it is completed!
Same
FACTS. I've already added it to my bucket list.
