Used mine for 3 hours today breaking up fence post pilings. I'd say 400 lbs of fully reacted concrete. Nothing beats that satisfying sound when you break a 100 lb chunk in two!
I bought a Bosch RH540MRT 12 Amp 1-9/16 in. SDS-Max Combination Rotary Hammer about 8 months ago. It is very practical for those who work in crawl spaces. In my last project, I needed to make the crawlspace deeper in a certain section, and this rotary hammer with the point bit and shovel made my job much easier. It is very durable, and I recommend this tool.
Bought same drill in Jul.23 and it was dead in need of a rebuild by Dec of same year. Used it for drilling holes in basalt rocks on a personal home lot and chiselling sandstone. Not as impressed as others. However when it was new it was amazing.
I had a bosch rh 540 m and i really loved it till it was stolen out of my truck 2 years ago. I have thought about that tool so many times - UNTIL TODAY! Needed a smaller hammer for digging hard clay and chipping around a foundation we are installing hdu4 hold downs in so I bought the 11264 evs!!! Freakin love it! Got a point and a spade bit to start and I worked them today! Why did I wait so long? Great video and I share your enthusiasm for this tool!
The Bosch hammer drills are workhorses. I have a 11264evs and a 11241evs and they have both served me well. Bosch website support is good as well. They have exploded drawings, assembly lubrication instructions and parts available on the website. After 4 to 5 years of continuous use you will need to disassemble the drill and replace the internal seals and oil. Once that is done the drill will act like it did when it was new. The 11264 uses a lithium based grease but the 11241 uses an oil similar to 10w40. Both are available on the Bosch website.
Nice video , good review , I have the exact same one , used it for tile removal , working amazing , makes short work of tile removal. I actually have both of your bits also , the spade , really makes it easy digging into the clay around here , that plus makes changes out fence post concrete bases easier. And the flat chisel tip is exactly what I was using for tile removal. Love my Bosch tools 👊🍻
Awesome tool, until it breaks and it’s not worth fixing Mine makes a funny noise after using it for a few minutes and the switch shuts off Any thoughts? What grease do you use for the spline section and what grease for inside the tool?
Incredible video. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience. I’m torn between getting a BOSCH 1-1/8-Inch SDS Rotary Hammer RH328VC with Vibration Control and this BOSCH 11264EVS 1-5/8 SDS-Max Combination Hammer. It’s for regular jobs at home. What advice would you give me?
I have an 850 watt sds plus and it can drill 8mm round 100mm diep in 3sec. However this machine doesnt have a clutch but it haven't given me any problems
Hi, nice video and good review . Please can u share your opinion which one produces more durable and powerfull sds max dewalt or bosch at the same class , i want to buy on black friday bewteen of those.
Hey brother good review, I just started as a Hvac contractor we drill mostly 2-4” hole on concrete or masonry. which one is if these Bosch drills works better/safer/lighter the one you have or Bosch Rh540m sds max ???
The one I have has a bit more power and would be better for those 4"holes. but 4'' holes really suck to do, so if its something your doing a lot of I would go with a different set up, like a wet saw.
I bought bosch BOSCH 1-9/16-Inch SDS-Max Combination Rotary Hammer RH540M, Blue...I'm unclear on what shank size bits to order, I know that may sound stupid. I bought on Amazon a year ago, ordered a bit kit with it, but shank was to small. When ordering, am I okay, as long as they are sds max or do they have to be, 1 9/16 SDS MAX?
for me, anything this size or bigger i like corded, because i'm typically using it for a long time. the Big Batteries take a while to charge and are very expensive, they also have a life span. If I had 4 big batteries then I might go with the dewalt, but I would need to use it alot to justify the cost.
I had that bosch rh 540. Piece of shit died 1 month after warranty was up. Luckily i purchased it on my credit card which doubled the manufacturer's warranty. I bought the 11264evs about 3 yrs ago.. Best tool ever. And i am a concrete contractor. It has never failed me.. would buy another one. However if i do replace it, it will be for a larger unit.
So disappointed in my bosch 540M. Had it for 4 Years always put away and stored well used maybe 20 times (like new) Clutch broke. Found out it has only a 1 Year warranty for a German Industrial Tool 😐 AND its made in china. This is literally a disposable tool since the cost to get it fixed is minimum $300. Tried a Makita and WOW faster, smoother and less effort. Makita is made in Japan go figure.
so it is a very typical problem that happens with these units, make sure you put grease on the end of the bit before you put it in the hammer, the O ring inside gets dry and stops the hammer action. then you have to take it apart and rebuild. sometimes if you have this issue, a good couple of smacks against the concrete gets it running
its a common issue, make sure you grease up the bit first, but some times you need to smack it hard against the concrete and it will start to impact, however this is also saying that its time to take it to a repair shop and replace some parts. i have had it happen to 2 of mine.
Used mine for 3 hours today breaking up fence post pilings. I'd say 400 lbs of fully reacted concrete. Nothing beats that satisfying sound when you break a 100 lb chunk in two!
Nice Job! i love using this thing as well. thanks for watching
Nice! Just what I need it for
I bought one for the same purpose. Its a lot of fun. I'll be sorry when the project is done. Great video, and thanks for the pro tips.

Would love to know how that model works on drilling rock like granite or basalt.

Yeah I love them. I actually found one in the trash one day. All it needed was some lube and it was good to go. Great tool
Cheers

Yeah, that's the one for me. Thanks for the video! 👍
I've been looking to purchase one of these and your video helped. Thanks !

You are the guy who really know what rotary hammer supposed to be,i can't believe the drill without safety clutch still be sale in canada.
In Canada the gov't is only concerned about have nots; those who don't want to work but vote left. If you don't work you don't need a drill.
I love it but wish the shovel bit can be longer or a longer version
I totally agree. Especially for digging post holes
Thanks for the great video! Just purchased one... looking forward to my first use. What type of grease do you recommend?
Great video man really appreciate all the info any particular grease you recommend to use on the bits
my pleasure, it will definitely help prolong the life of your tool
Nice, great informative review!!! Thanks Brad
My pleasure! thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching
Can work perfect for home usages . Those these drill require special bits
Yes they do sds bits
how much better is this one compared to the one size down model?
Love mine! Awesome tool!
Hi, nice video and good review . Please can u share your opinion which one produces more durable and powerfull sds max dewalt or bosch at the same class , i want to buy on black friday bewteen of those.
I wonder if this would drill 260 holes at it's max Bit size of 1 5/8" 3.50 " Deep ? Your thoughts
I just got mine and I love it...it's a beast in a little package. What chisel do you recommend for breaking concrete?
awesome, enjoy!
I like the point chisels that have a twist in them, but really if you pick a bosch or Milwaukee, dewalt, Hilti you will be fine
Yes l have a Bosch and is very good tool
thanks for watching
Great drill , had mine 11 years . any idea where to get rebuild parts for the head in Canada ?
no sorry i dont have an answer for ya, im going to send one of my older ones in for service for that reason.
What the size of the bit the part go in the hummer
Great review! Gracias
CAN WE USE 6" CORING BIT WITH THIS ?
Thank you sir
You are very welcome
What is 1 5/8” number? I have Bosch 2inch but I don’t know what is this number for
Max capacity drill bit. Coring will be more but it's the max size drill bit.
Is it better than dewalt?
Nice video. Was wondering if there's a reverse on drill mode? Thanks

@@hammerandhome thanks man for your time. Appreciated
Do u have the model number of that spade shovel bit?
I bought bosch BOSCH 1-9/16-Inch SDS-Max Combination Rotary Hammer RH540M, Blue...I'm unclear on what shank size bits to order, I know that may sound stupid. I bought on Amazon a year ago, ordered a bit kit with it, but shank was to small. When ordering, am I okay, as long as they are sds max or do they have to be, 1 9/16 SDS MAX?
There is SDS plus. SDS max. And Spline.
The 540M means sds max. That's fhe shank size to buy.
1 9/16 refers to its max rated drilling size
This or the big boy cordless dewalt?
for me, anything this size or bigger i like corded, because i'm typically using it for a long time. the Big Batteries take a while to charge and are very expensive, they also have a life span. If I had 4 big batteries then I might go with the dewalt, but I would need to use it alot to justify the cost.
That’s the one right there!
Have you ever used a sds max to plus adapter?
No I don’t think I have. I have used a spline to sds adapter.
I had that bosch rh 540. Piece of shit died 1 month after warranty was up. Luckily i purchased it on my credit card which doubled the manufacturer's warranty. I bought the 11264evs about 3 yrs ago.. lucky! i'm also thinking of getting a larger unit, not sure what one to get yet
@@hammerandhome did you decide which larger unit to get yet?
How you change the oil or put more on it,??
this tool does not take oil

I would like to know if i could use this tool to remove stuck cv joints when they rusted they stick realy badly
Maybe, but it would probably damage them
@@hammerandhome thank you very much
Just bought one at a pawn shop for $50. 🙂
Sweet!
I have this identical model u have here but Mines doesn't hammer what u think is the problem?
so it is a very typical problem that happens with these units, make sure you put grease on the end of the bit before you put it in the hammer, the O ring inside gets dry and stops the hammer action. then you have to take it apart and rebuild. sometimes if you have this issue, a good couple of smacks against the concrete gets it running
Thanks I will give it a try.
Just did what u said and it worked fine thanks alot for the tip.
@@jamalmunroe8586 Great to hear!
to bad u cant get 6" on the core for venting exhausts. 4" is good for dryer vents not for hood ranges
that would be sweet
Bosch 🖤 heloy from serbia
Thanks for watching
I have one it’s rotating but not hammering why is that
its a common issue, make sure you grease up the bit first, but some times you need to smack it hard against the concrete and it will start to impact, however this is also saying that its time to take it to a repair shop and replace some parts. i have had it happen to 2 of mine.
Spray some lube or penetrating oil down the chuck and then grease up your bits every time you use it
