We used to pull a 7 bottom 16 inch moldboard plow behind our Farmall 1206. Exact same tractor in the beginning of this video. We farmed around 1,500 acres. I used to love going out to plow a big field. Believe it or not but I was only 10 years old. Parents now a days have no idea what a young person is capable of doing if you teach them well. I would plow from daylight to dark and the older boys would only check on me a few times a day and bring me food and drink. On the farm, I never got bored. There was always something to do. I sure miss those days. Memories that I wouldn't change for nothing in this world. :)
*I've been eager to attend the Half Century of Progress show. It's fantastic to witness all that vintage machinery in action. I couldn't agree more, adding more colors would enhance the experience even further!* 🚜🌈
Brings back memories of Grampa driving a John Deere 4010 and a 4 bottom plow and dad driving the Minneapolis-Moline Vista G 1000 pulling a 6 bottom plow. We changed while I was in school to disking with an Oliver 1900 with MFW and a Oliver 2155. I am surprised I can hear after driving that screaming Jimmy in the 1900. The only large tractor we still have since dad died is the Vista G 1000. I think all the implements were sold.
It’s true that duel rear wheels give better floatation and traction in the fields but the real reason one tire&wheel is removed from the right side of the tractor is because of the plow they’re using tracks directly behind the tractor, so when plowing they have to remove the outside duel so’s the tractor can put that right tire down in the furrow and the plow will be over far enough to not leave a ridge of unplowed ground.
That Oliver 990 is a joke, that was Oliver's biggest mistake by using a 2-cycle Detroit in it.Unless you run them wide open, you can't get any power out of a Detroit.
Really cool seeing that CAT D4 plowing. A few years back when I went through California I saw them using D6's working ground. No blades or even front hydraulic cylinders. Just bare tracked crawlers.
I’ve been wanting to go to the half century of progress show. It’s great seeing all the old iron out playing together. And I agree, more colors would make it even better.
60 years ago, my uncles farmed in Nebraska. When visiting them, I remember sitting on/sometimes driving the tractors of the day. Farming back then was obviously a much longer, much slower, much harder process and how my uncles made money farming the soil remains a great mystery to me. Memories......... Many thanks for posting these videos...
Growing up plowing for my dad We had a Massey Ferguson 285 pulling 4.16's bottom plow. A MF 275 & a MF 265 pulling 3.16's plow. Today I have a 1990 Massey Ferguson 3070 pulls 4.16's.
great video as always, be nice to focus on the plows some too to show all the brands being used as well, The implements are becoming harder to find, so it is nice to see them being used too
It reminds me of when I was young, I would sit on the back of the plow and collect worms for fishing, just the sound of a tractor would make me run to see and hear one of my favorite sounds.
So cool to see all that old iron working, I think the 4000 and 5000 Deere series tractors ran the smoothest and quietest of them all. My dad had a 4020 and 5020 back in the day. The 4020 was a dam good tractor, it would always start, the 5020 not such a good starter. You have the best videos...///
Thank you for watching. I agree the 4020 is a solid tractor. Having been in the field up close I would say the tractor that seemed to edge them all out for smooth power and speed was the Allis-Chalmers One-Ninety XT.
Now that's a symphony I could listen too, that 990 oliver sounded very stout. Thanks for sharing I'm in mountain's on nc and don't know of any tractor show's around me.
I loved plowing , on everything from a AC. WD 45 , JD 70 , all the way up to a JD 8430 with MFWD . Night time was the best harvest corn until dark , then jump on a JD 4620 or 6030 , and take off plowing until 2:00 am. The tractor pulling across the field , the longer you ran the more glow as heat built up in the muffler. Soon. It would would be glowing red , and flames , and sparks spit out the top . The tractor was pulling a little hard , but that is when it sounded it's best.
You can't hear any of the tractors around that Oliver 990. LOL. That thing is a screamer. Does it have the Detroit Diesel engine in it? I know Oliver put that engine in some of their 50 series tractors that came after the 990. I could not handle listening to that screaming all day. LOL
I really hope there will still be a half century of progress show by the time I’m 16. I’m 12 years old and I have 4 tractors of my own I have a, case 990, ford 8n, international 806 (wheat land) international 1466 standard front axle (none row crop axle). So I hope there is a plowing demonstration so I can go to one in a few years.
I love at 6:20 the John Deeres start rolling up, And all you can hear is that Oliver with it's screaming Jimmy saying nope this is my show. All them tractors roll past then finally the loud Oliver rolls by
Ug, listen to the difference between the 1030 with the muffler and the one with the "fancy" straight pipe. Why do people subject themselves to that? I know the factory mufflers aren't the most inexpensive things in the world, but my oh my that deafening drone! To each their own but that drives me nuts. Also, some of these plows are set up just terrible! Different depths front to back, gauge wheels not set properly, etc. That first 1650, the poor guy has to bounce his tractor through the furrow behind that JD, the 1950 shown later the furrow actually disappears! Still though, it's always a treat to see older stuff working hard yet. Takes me back, and I appreciate the videos.
I really like these 1/2 century vids. Thanks for trying to get other makes involved. It would be nice to see the other brands as well. Keep up the great vids & info. Cheers
way tougher in that era as across society. hearing protection, sun block, dust masks, gloves on before fuel, fertilizers, hazard materials not in most any jobs lexicon.
I love a parade ! Wow such a nice collection of classic tractors ploughing in Illinois. I too would like to see more brands represented in the machinery running. It looked like a day in November grey sky and cold however it wasn't. I'd like to watch more of your vegetables harvesting you showcased a few weeks back. I ❤ BTP 🚜👍
As a young teenager working on the farm no matter what I tried or did I could not stay awake plowing all night with the green Deere with a year round cab ? The way it sounds and the temperature I couldn't do it. Plowing with Alice Chalmers no problem, nothing like the smell of fresh turned soil at sun rise
Out of all the brands seen in the plowing demonstration at the Half Century of Progress Show, John Deere is tops in my book. That’s the only brand I’ll run. Period. No other tractor brand will ever be seen on my property unless my family no longer lives there, then probably another brand will take over where John Deere departed.
U have 2 put rear wheel weights on the tractor the better the rear tires bite the ground the better they pull most people use mold board ploughs very seldom U see people use disk ploughs any more more other diesel tractors would be great and singing 🎶 😊 great 2 😊😊 OMG 8 13 2O23
I stay on the Mississippi Gulf coast where is the closes tried to plow day to my location enjoy these videos my dad would really get a kick out of it his 81 year old formed in Arkansas all his life
Awesome video ! I like watching all the different tractors . My favorite is Farmall but I like other brands as well . How long did take them to finish that field ?
The Steiger had a different plow or had it configured differently. What was the adjustment that was made for that one compared to the rest? Hitch swing?
I know in Europe they have those plows that flip over or whatever so the driver just does a U turn at the end of the field and continues on. These plows only plow to the right, so the procedure to cover the field is a little different. Suffice to say, the right wheel of the tractor is always the one in the furrow, and the plow always plows the soil to the same side, so the dual wheel is always the one on the high side.

Seems like maybe some of these guys had a little oversized plow on their tractor. I get that it’s called progress but sometimes I just take my old h out and miss the simpler times and wish I could go back
Another amazing production here as we have all come to expect. I suppose. If you happen to have farmland near rantoul Illinois you might just some free plowing done every so often. I can't imagine running an old Detroit all day, everyday. But I do love the sound of them!

Loved the sound of the two Cylinder John Deers I spent thirty years in the seat of a JD 60 miss those days.
Really cool seeing that CAT D4 plowing. A few years back when I went through California I saw them using D6's working ground. No blades or even front hydraulic cylinders. Just bare tracked crawlers.
I loved moldboard plowing as a kid, my favorite job on the farm night time was even better.
I’m an Alice Chalmer fan and a narrow front fan. It was great to see all those oldies doing work!
I've run a 4020 with a John Deere semi mounted 5--14 infurrow and a 4440 with a 6--16 onland IHC I ALWAYS PREFERED THE ONLAND HITCH...
Excellent! Those tractors are music to my ears. Thank you!
Eye candy everywhere 👍 Nice to see that Minneapolis Moline in the mix too.
This show is always exciting to go to. Each time completely different.
That was fun. Could watch all day.
Thank you fir watching.
I’ve been wanting to go to the half century of progress show. It’s great seeing all the old iron out playing together. And I agree, more colors would make it even better.
Definitely needs more Red tractors in that line up
Needs some prairie gold too
"Sounds awesome!"

Great video plowing is when you can see what a tractor is made of.Cool to see a cat crawler in the mix to.👍👍
You can hear that Detroit Diesel a Mile away!
Yes indeed.
I love these videos grew up around these tractors when I was a kid and it's just so great to see him still working
Great video. I would love to attend this year with my 255 Massey Ferguson
Man that little caterpillar on the tracks that was awesome to see that in a see if you could film at some more
This is what this Country needs to get back to, hard work , love for God, love for Family, love for life. love of our Nation!!
👍👍 🇺🇸
I really enjoyed these classic tractors.
Excellent videography! Many tubers could learn from your 5 star video.
Thank you for your kind post and for watching. Always trying to improve my coverage.
Simply awesome! Love watching them roll that soil over!
H 4huegg Euqduhhhho😕;-);)(::-$B-)

great video as always, be nice to focus on the plows some too to show all the brands being used as well, The implements are becoming harder to find, so it is nice to see them being used too
I need to add this show to my bucket list. Looks like an awesome time...so cool to see all those different brands of tractors plowing and having fun.
It reminds me of when I was young, I would sit on the back of the plow and collect worms for fishing, just the sound of a tractor would make me run to see and hear one of my favorite sounds.
You must say.i give them swiming lessons those worms 😆

I loved the smell of freshly turned soil at sun up after all nite moon lite plowing , as a teenager years ago
Love hearing those 2 cylinders at Work
I loved plowing , on everything from a AC. WD 45 , JD 70 , all the way up to a JD 8430 with MFWD . Please, can someone lend that Ford 9600 some wheelweights? the poor thing was begging for traction xD

It is indeed a Detroit!
Great video! Love seeing all the half century tractors still operating. Thanks for sharing.
Lol that Oliver 990 was screaming, could hear it 5 tractors back!
braderrick literally a screaming Detroit

How deep are they plowing? Some of these plows are too big for the power in front of them. Unless they plow shallow.
I really like these 1/2 century vids. Thanks for trying to get other makes involved. It would be nice to see the other brands as well. Keep up the great vids & info. Cheers
Brilliant footage as always. Thankyou.
TY:)
Alot of awesome machines there from every color. Still love a 2 cylinder diesel though!
way tougher in that era as across society. hearing protection, sun block, dust masks, gloves on before fuel, fertilizers, hazard materials not in most any jobs lexicon.
Jason, thank you for all of your videos from the Half Century of Progress Show. I could watch these for hours >>>
Thank you for watching. Soybeans from the 19 show are out today and plowing should be out tomorrow.
Muy bonito lodel campo megusta todo eso
Would love to see more of those.
Man this is fun to watch! Some awesome history there. Thanks
That 200 Acres went by fast
It does go fast. Often they replow ground to hero the fun going.
A couple of those tractors had to much plow for that ground. They slowed up the rest of the pack. lol
I love a parade ! Wow such a nice collection of classic tractors ploughing in Illinois. I too would like to see more brands represented in the machinery running. I'm a owner of a couple of Allis Chalmers tractors I would like to make it to the progress show in 2021 but time will tell if I can make it
That was nice, I was waiting for a Ford and then the 9000 make it's appearance. Thanks for sharing

Would run cross country after school then hit the field and plowed until 8 or 9 enjoyed every minute of it.

John Deere makes good tractors. There is no doubt you are loyal to the long green line.
Let the black smoke roar
What a nice show
Is that a annual show? Would be nice to go
Some amazing tractors that I've never seen before. Great video 👍
Love these videos, thanks for posting! You did a really good job.
Nice video B.T.P.,I saw the drone hovering out there too.
Schönes Gespann 👍😊
Loved your videos keep it up
Thank you for watching.
You are very welcome !! I miss those good old plow days, loved to turn over the earth ,loved the smell,on those type of tractors !!
Was that your drone filming at the show ?
Great video BTP 👍👍👍👍
That’s one way of getting ya field ploughed mighty fast lol.
cool tractors
What's with all the straight pipes? They sound a lot better with a muffler on them.
Monster work tractor
👍👍

So would my AC 7000 be to new to bring to the show?
Not at all. That’s the kind of tractor that needs to be put there.
Who would I need to contact about coming to the 2021 show?
Who would I need to contact about coming to the 2021 show?
That would be great to show em what a real machine can do ya know
A few traffic jams there on the furrows due to the power differential thru the ages
Of course the Oliver is holding up the line
So cool!! Is this something anyone could go to with a tractor?
Yes
Awesome video ! I like watching all the different tractors . My favorite is Farmall but I like other brands as well . How long did take them to finish that field ?
The Steiger had a different plow or had it configured differently. What was the adjustment that was made for that one compared to the rest? Hitch swing?
THIS WOULD LOOK GREAT WITH A DRONE VIEW TIME LAPSE
Unfortunately this event takes place at an airport. No drone flying 😢
@@bigtractorpower that sucks
What happens withe the plow dual when he turns around
It does the same thing

Oh how embarrassing to be the guy holding up the line ,great footage and narrative!!
Nice video you don’t see many Fords at these events.
I liked the 1206 with front wheel assist. Thanks for another great video!!

Thst 4x4 1206 what a beautiful piece of machinery they dont make them like they use to.
They don’t get much better than that b😁👍👍
A lot of smoking classics, but even more golf carts and Gators
Ever notice how everyone riding on them is really fat!
Jim Shoemaker So are you.
Jim Shoemaker Why would you even make a comment that every one might be a little over weight. They’re doing what they love, driving a tractor. Fat, skinny, old, young , tall, short. All these guys and some gals all have one thing in common, they love tractors.

Seems a few of these are paired up with a little more than they can chew.

It looks like they're struggling because they havta idle back because they are following an Allis. LOL
@@hturbo1007 nice one but you know the truth
H Turbo hey, I saw your comment! Lol
Won’t make it this year, maybe the next one I can bring some Allis tractors to plow with.
