I am a Dhaka city dweller- living very close to Dhaka University, this is a lifetime sadness for me not knowing about Sir Hoodboy came in Dhaka and I had no information about the conference! Sir, do come again and again and enlighten our poor pupils with your glare of knowledge.
I am a British-Bangladeshi physician I am 73 years old and participated in War of Liberation in 1971 I have no issues with Pakistanis in UK I believe that the Pakistan army and Bhutto and most importantly Jinnah were responsible for the break up of Pakistan I have seen the entire video and I congratulate you all for telling the truth and the entire story was objective and realistic
Always enjoy listening to Prof. Hoodbouy. Might disagree with him sometimes on social, geopolitics and religious matters. But disagreements are intellectually healthy. 🙏 to him for expressing honest views and beliefs in this podcast.
In 1971 I was 12 years old and my father was the Awami League Thana leader, so he had to flee 1971 the whole family fled to near the indian border where the Pak army could not go the fear of Mukti Bahini and the Indian border was 3 miles. One day early in the morning Pakistani Captain(probably Punjabi- very rude and uncultured) with 50 plus some local rajakar and Bihari rajakar to arrest my father, but my father wasn't there. He was already in India. First, we fled when the Pakistani army attacked villages, and small cities from Jessore indian city Bongaon, which was the main road with India. some informer came in the early morning that Pakistanis were coming to arrest everybody. so everybody left, I heard in a little late and when I was fleeing I faced that captain with rajakars. He told to stop running, otherwise,I would shoot us. he came and tied my hand and went to our house, but a Muslim leaguer came with him. he was helping him, but he sent his son to warn us to flee as soon as possible. Captain showed the bullets opening Kalashnikov, if you cry I will empty the whole cassette on you and slapped me and tied my hand. Later they wanted to take me to their camp in a small city, but the Muslim leaguer convinced him that he was small and let him go, and next time we would catch his father and uncles. The man was an opportunist and fooled the Punjabi idiot captain. Bangladeshi always things thought that Punjabi armies were just uncultured toothless animals and religious fanatics. My father later entered Bangladesh and went to my mother's house to see my elder brother and other relatives, but after several days Pakistani armies raided that Villages and arrested and beat him so badly that he was bloody and his skin cracked and bleeding told my relative there, but a local jamaat leader told Punjabis that he is a relative of our neighbors and he is innocent and if they knew my father was an Awami league leader shot him to death. when Punjabis were left, our relatives took him by bull cart to India, because transport can't go through those villages due to rain filled and they were remote areas. it took several hours to reach the indian border where the Boyra border and Indian first defeated the Pakistan army from there to my mother's house area. Then from the border by ambulance, my father was taken to the subdistrict Bongaon Hospital where he was treated the wounds it took a month to come to my father's Hindu friends who lived in Bongan and spent there around 6moth, until the country Pak army. where later the main battle took place and the Pakistanis were defeated after that Pakistanis fled to the main Jessore garrison. In the battle, most Sikhs fought against the Pakistani army, and also Bangladeshi freedom fighters shot from the flanks and inside the villages where the battle took place. you can google " The battle of Garibpur" and you will find hundreds of videos made by indian sikh commanders, journalists, BBC ITN, etc., Then in 1974 I left Bangladesh to study engineering to the soviet union, where I studied for almost 12 years, finished my bach, Masters and Ph.d .later move to London, to Dhaka and again to Canada and living here 34 years and also did a masters in engineering here in Canada. now retired, but very well remember the war of 1971, although I was 12-13, I had knowledge like an adult educated person because my dad was a modern enlightened person, we read 3-4 newspapers regularly, local and foreign journals,, my elder was a good student too and did a masters in the UK, where I visited twice to see him from Russia. Here I have a Lahori (Punjabi) friend who studied Business ad now a real-estate seller, and neighbor Pathan Taxi driver. he sometimes helped me when I had heart surgery and was very honest and hardworking, but he finished grades 4-5 and he learned English here working as a taxi driver. His 3 daughters are students of the university, son after high school, went to learn motor mechanics. He is illiterate but educated his children by driving a taxi. He doesn't pray or talk about Allah and Muhammad and Masshallah as most Pakistanis and Bangladesh learned from the mullahs, who betrayed in the 1971 Jamaate Islami. They destroy Bangladesh now by building secretly, openly madrasas mosques, etc. Bangladesh is now similar to Pakistan and Taibanistans. I did not visit there for 23 years, because of Islamists and corrupt govt and freedom of doing things is not easy for progressives, due to the Islamization of the country. it will be like Pakistan very soon or Talibanistan. all arabs bad cultures in the blood of Bangladesh now. Arabs now becoming modern and Pak and Bangladeshi are going towards medieval times.
Very interesting story sir 👍, We know pak army, they have played a dirty Game in our region, i belong to jnk 🇮🇳 💕, here i have seen the pak trained terrorists which killed our innocents people from last 35 years, so we can understand them moreover they spread the religious extremism virus in our society too.. I was happy that Bangladesh is doing fine in all the parameters of human index and Economy But after the violent protest against Hasina Govt forced her to left Bangladesh later on People on street looted her home, her Garments and destroying her father and founding father statues, portrait in streets, it scares us, they people have invited misfortune and celebrating the upcoming economic sanctions.. The best way to remove hasina from power was Election, if they were really unhappy, desperate but the way they showed the ugly violence, forget Democracy will prevail and prosper there anymore, now this will become the precedent to remove any govt.. Dear sir. . Thank you for this session on reflections on your visit to Bangladesh. . Its always illuminating to find out how an outsider views us. .I spent a number if years from my childhood and youth around the Dhaka University area. . . My father, who happens to be a nuclear physicist, was also a student of Dhaka University. .he had lamented all his life how Ayub Khan had paved the way for genuine social mobility by creating scholarship programmes for East Pakistani students. .however, he still wanted an independent Bangladesh as a nation where the mighty Punjabi lords will not be there. . For generations we Bangladeshis have found peace in simple living, high thinking and have never admired rulers who attempted to remind the people that they are the rulers. . Hope you get to visit Bangladesh many more times . .Bangladeshis will definitely benefit from knowing there is a huge diverse world beyond India. .
1. Dr. Pervez I admire your podcasts. I listen to them regularly. This one about Bangladesh is excellent. I missed opportunity to visit Dhaka, I get some compensation through your description. 2. I must confess I am impressed by the inquisitiveness Pakistani youth display in these conversations. I particularly admire the way they formulate their questions/comments to all the speakers. 3. The old gentleman who started sharing his experience was particularly important. Please do host him.
There is a difference between India and Pakistan. For a lecture by Hoodboy or someone of his stature in India, the hall would be jampacked, and the lecture would probably be in English and on physics rather than on Dhaka or Delhi. Schools and colleges would compete to bring their students to hear the great professor.
The reason New York in USA and Mumbai in India are financial hubs and great contributor to the GDP of their respective countries is precisely because these cities are cosmopolitan cities which embraces everyone who brings innovation, entrepreneurship and dedication to the table.
SN bose born and died in calcutta. He chose india despite working in dhaka for 20 years in 1947. Bangladeshis can chose to celebrate his contribution to dhaka University but he is will be indian and indian bengali only.
For those who are unaware let me remind it was for the first time in the world history of UN that it has to set up abortion clinics in Bangladesh. Also the jagannath hall Parvez hoodboy is talking about is the hall in which all the Hindu students and professors were killed.
I watched the video of your talk in the inaugural ceremony, felt so good when I spotted prof biswarup mukhopadhyay sitting next to prof Ashok Sen,,, prof Mukhopadhyay is from the department of physical sciences at the Indian institute of science education and research kolkata, and I am a student here. I really enjoyed your speech in that ceremony.
Great show! We are really ashamed that you had this much hassle to visit our country. Hopefully this issue will be taken care of in no time. Please visit again and enlighten us with your valuable knowledge in coming days.
6:02 The photo looks like Lahore or Karachi, in 1960s. Intellectuals and Sari clad women, in Universities. So much local focus on culture. I hope Bangladesh keeps it that way.
I wish I can go to Dhaka University. My father's name is there in the merit list. Satyendra Nath Bose was his wadern. He pulled my young Baba out of jail. Baba had protested against British.... Until the end of their lives my Ma - Baba wanted to go back to Bangladesh. Their Shonar Bangla.
I am from India,R.N.Chaudhury (81),a senior citizen of Kolkata. I am delighted to listen the factual statement of history by Prof.Hudboy. I would remind the great leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who led an army of liberation with the Hindu, Muslim,Sikh and Christian. Partition of the Indian Subcontinent is curse on this sacred soil.
Is freedom easily attained? A nation filled with narrow-mindedness always lives in servitude. But Bengalis never accept slavery. Sweat earns wages; blood earns freedom. We, the Bengalis, can never tolerate unjust rule. Just as we rejected the oppressive rule of the Pakistani military in 1971, we stood up again in 2024. In 2024, Hasina shed the blood of our students. In response, we declared, "If we have already given blood, we will give more, but we will ensure Hasina's removal." In 1971, around 3 million martyrs sacrificed their lives. In 2024, over 1,500 lives were lost in the struggle for justice. 44:24
Very in-depth and insightful discussion by the Professor Pervez Hoodbhoy, I'm very much enlightened and aspired by him from this video. It is my first time watching and knowing about him and also about this channel. Just by the title instinctively felt like it is going to be a insightful session. As I finished watching the entire session without skipping a bit, already ensures how good the discussion was considering my ever so fleeting attention span hahaha 😅 .. Keep it up, team black hole. Loved it. Subbed it.❤ By a Bangladeshi, studying in Malaysia. Just little observation, Professor Hoodbhoy didn't refer our Honorable Bangladeshi chief advisor by Professor or Dr. Yunus. Straight away called out his name, and didn't mention that he's also a Nobel laureate from Bangladesh. Which would have been a bit relatable and inspiring for the youth in my opinion perhaps prof. was much more excited to share about the findings that had been gathered from the visit and he didn't want to waste any moment saying anything otherwise. That's all fine, with all due respect tho.😅 Anyways, it's pretty much honouring to see a different perspective coming from intellectuals like Prof. Hoodbhoy at the time of this dawn of the new decentralized Bangladeshi youth-dependent, socio-political revolution. For anyone who are young, my suggestion would be please gather knowledge from the sources that are more to authenticism, fundamentally foundational, unbiased and open minded. Don't limit yourself by any ideology and any philosophy just because it's the source of your society and favorable and beneficial to you. Be honest and free for the sake of the beautiful unbiased world that doesn't have any hatred and division among the people.
Thank you for sharing this video. I will watch Prof Hoodbouy more. This world needs such beings to lead the world. We humans need to rise above religion and nationality to tske care of humanity independently.
A nation can be modern and progressive only when it accomodate all streams of ideas and thoughts and not based on narrow religious ideologies. Only scientific spirit and quest for truth based on rationality can achieve it.
Prof, you are some of few from Pakistani, rather our bro I watch. You are doing good job. I hope there are more people like you, who would make pak are state where we can live together ❤️
*Sir we need a session on* : “complexity and randomness of quantum mechanics” The topics for covering in session should be: 1) newtons corpuscular theory and young’s experiment 2) wave mechanics concepts like Schrödinger’s equation and De Broglie’s hypothesis. 3) elitzur vaidman bomb testing for quantum superposition. 4) how quantum computing is using entanglement. Sir it’s enough. Luv from a lower middle class boy of class 11th, and from Hyderabad ♥️🇵🇰
Bangladesh has a unique and varied culture that distinguishes it from neighboring nations such as India and Pakistan. It is essential to look beyond religious differences and consider the broader aspects of our country. Despite being predominantly Muslim, we should not overlook other significant elements of our society. It is vital for us to come together and collaborate towards building a prosperous and flourishing nation.
Both Einstein and Bose excelled in playing string instruments. While Einstein played violin, Bose excelled in classical Esraj. Both couldn't live forever in their karambhoomi. While Einstein left his in Germany because of Nazi party, Bose left his favourite Dhaka because of Islamic Pakistan.
We pakistani regret what was done in 1971 we are from public we still like Bengali and they dwell in our heart we like brave people of Bengal and request them to give up if they have had any hate extremely sorry for 1971
As a close follower of Prof Hoodboy I am so happy to see his influence on young pakistanis. I wish all luck for a successful life for them. I am British Indian consultant in NHS. Sadly the young doctors from Pakistan aren't quite aware of Prof and his work. I take every opportunity to introduce blackhole to them. BTW I find it quite difficult to follow Urdu.
I'm from Calcutta, West Bengal (India) and a Bengalee ... I'm very impressed to see this sessions, although due to lack of knowledge in Arbic, Pharsi, there was a little bit hindrance, but, yes overall I could understand... it is a wonderful session. By the way, I expected better questions from the youth in the audience. Last but not the least, I would definitely like see the elderly gentleman to share his memories in another session, as has been requested ... looking forward... thanks very much 😊😊
The quota system that Sheikh Hasina initially introduced was 30%, after the students protested she reduced it to 05%. But it was the High Court that restored it back to 30%. A small factual detail you missed mentioning. This confusion came in handy for the Chinese Intelligence & Pakistan's ISI who were looking for half a chance to remove Hasina to instigate them to hit the streets. This Bangaldesh story isn't over yet!!!
Bangladesh is now free and we the people of BD are in peace. Those who are talking about democracy, where were you in those 16 years? When no acceptable elections were held? Where were you when people were arrested just for posting a image against fascist Hasina? Where were you when thousands of crores of tk were money laundered?? Where were you when 2007,2013 and lastly 2024's genocide were in action?? Indians should respect the sovereignty of our country and shouldn’t act like big brother. They should know their limits. And thus they can get respect from ours. Islamists, fundamentalists etc words are not going to brainwash this generation.
Thanks for your present history, social, and scientific studies of current Bangladesh visa vis india and pakistan which gives positive attitude to common people.
One interesting thing is we, Bengal's(Bangladeshi), can understand and speak Hundi and Urdu but Pak can't understand Bengal let alone speak. So, my point is: we, Bengal's, believe everything is possible by perseverance and dedication & unity. Our ancestors uprooted Pak army from Bangladesh in 1971 due to their atrocities and inhumane behavior. Now we, Young Generation , removed dictator & criminal Hasina due to her autocracy. Inshaallah,if something bad happens in future, again we ll come out to the road to remove all discrimination ......
To my Indian friends who are struggling to make sense of the current events in Dhaka, here’s a quick snapshot from someone on the ground: Before I discuss Sheikh Hasina, let me mention that my entire family and I voted for her Awami League in the last free and fair election in 2007. Moreover, we come from the same district of Gopalganj, making us 'Gopalis'-a term (pejorative, some might say) often associated with hardcore Awami League supporters. However, the Hasina of 2007 is not the Hasina who was ousted in 2024. After coming to office, she did not allow a single free election, resulting in 15 years of unelected, increasingly dictatorial rule. Until it became too much and all we needed was a spark. She met the fate that was paved with her own hands -unyielding confrontation on the streets. It wasn’t Biden who forced out Hasina; it was the ordinary people of Bangladesh, plain and simple. That includes me-a former Hasina supporter. Now, Dr. Yunus represents our hope to build a true republic: a state of the people, by the people, and for the people. A state where Hindus, Muslims, Chakmas, agnostics, atheists are all equal Bangladeshis with the same rights. A country with regular elections and peaceful transition of power. A liberal state connected to the market economy. It’s a tall order, of course, but we’ve taken a firm step. How you, as our biggest neighbor, choose to relate to us in this juncture will resonate across generations. The call is yours.
58:00 There's no hatred in Bangladesh towards 'Indians' or people from any other nation. But Bangladeshi people are strongly aware and against Indian political hegemony.
Diversity is strength. The USA is a diverse society in every aspect-religious, ethnic, and moral-yet it stands as one of the most powerful nations in the world. If language alone determined nationhood, both Punjabs and both Bengals would have become independent nations. Many countries share a common language but remain distinct entities. What truly divides people is not diversity but lawlessness and injustice.
At 1:11:27 most of the Indian restaurants in the uk are Bangladeshi and specifically Sylheti - this is due to the fact that many Sylheti sailors were among the first to travel to the UK. The restaurant business just happened to be a relatively easier business to start. The cuisine there is British Indian food suitable for the palate of the local white people - they do not serve “authentic”Indian food.
Was British-India really divided into two parts e.g. India and Pakistan, based on Two Nation Theory? I think, it was not! It was politics that was coated by religion, but of course not in favour of any specific nation! It instigated the division! Muslims fled from India to then East and West Pakistan, while Hindus and Sikhs respectfully fled from Pakistan to India, following huge bloodsheds leaving their homeland and properties! Therefore, it was not the consequence of Two Nation Theory!
Some Complication that the speaker made - 1. Awami league (Hasinas party isnt banned), chatro league is banned under accusation of militant activity 2. wall art where students is spreading arm do mean AZADI but it is sinspired from the incident of Abu Sayed who go shot from few meters away while doing this pose 3. Jamayet Islami was banned only for a few days as Hasina wated to divert the focus from the movement 4. Students of present time are more politically aware and pissed of not because of the internet, but because similar student movement happened in Bangladesh multiple times from 19989, to 2024, but everytime the cause was lost because of the mistakes politicians repeated These are a few of the complication very briefly mentioned above
Don't get me wrong. This student revolution has been hijacked by fundamentalists who is forcing their way into the government and those poor gullible students are left in utter shock. It is similar to Iranian revolution of 1979. Mark my words Younnis place will be in prison very soon after the next wave of secular revolution.
We Bengali Muslims consider our Pakistani brothers closer to us than West Bengal Hindus despite language and culture. I am pretty sure Punjabi Muslims feel the same about Sikh and Hindu punjabis. In diaspora communities Bengali and Pakistani Muslims live side by side. Islam is more unifying factor than culture or ethnicity. Two nation theory still holds.
"Hinduism is said to divide people and in contrast, Islam is said to bind people together. This is only a half-truth. For Islam divides as inexorably as it binds. Islam is a close corporation and the distinction that it makes between Muslims and non-Muslims is a very real, very positive and very alienating distinction. The brotherhood of Islam is not the universal brotherhood of man. It is a brotherhood of Muslims for Muslims only. There is a fraternity, but its benefit is confined to those within that corporation. For those who are outside the corporation, there is nothing but contempt and enmity,” BR Ambedkar Thanks for confirming this assessment..
West Bengal Hindus already know where the loyalties lie. Not sure why the muslim community is so dishonest about this when asked, since it is such a poorly kept secret.
Seems like you hadn't had enough. I'm sorry that if you give any importance to your bloody religion be it any islam hindu or xtianity I can vouch you're gonna fail. Your place will be in the 🗑 of history. Tell me any country which has pursued development on the basis of religion.
I do not understand urdu very well, just a little. But it is clear me a very wise man of Pakistan, Dr. Hoodbhoy. I have not heard such wise speaking of any Pakistani.
" If a country has a fascist leader, this is a great horror for that country; but there is much greater horror: The existence of ignorant and unethical masses who support that primitive leader." -Mehmat Murat Ildan
Bangladeshi establishment took reasonable measures in Hasina,s government to wash the imprints of fundamentalists.even some nonsense were put to deaths.but in Pakistan Mullah Military alliance is much strengthened and created barrier to stop knowledge dissemination.this is unfortunate.
The Jaganath hall is not tribute to Lord Jaganath. Though Nawabs of Dhaka is credited for the establishment of Dhaka University, they had the initiative but 90% of land of the then Dhaka was owned by Hindu Zamindars like Jamindar Joydevpur, Jamondars of Baliati. The Jaganath Hall and its abducent area was owned by the Jamondars of Baliati the then, and the Hall was named after his father's name Jaganath Ray Chowdhury. The entire property of Jagaanath University (Another public University Dhaka) was owned by the family.
We must always strive for stronger and healthier relationships with our neighboring countries, given our shared history and mutual pursuit of prosperity, particularly with India. Friendship between nations should be founded on principles of equality and mutual respect. Unfortunately, propaganda by much of the Indian media is widening the gap between India and its neighbors. Many Indians are being misled by these false narratives, which often highlight isolated extreme examples rather than accurately reflecting the broader reality on the ground
Professor Sahab , Why there was great rejoicing and elation in Pakistan after democratically elected Ms Sheikh Haseena Wazid was uprooted by illegal new Govt backed by Jamaat-e-Islami . She was very much removed by religious parties on the backing of foreign intelligence agency . The rejoicing and elation in Pakistan is similar to when Taliban came to power in Afghanistan . Now the same people in Pakistan are abusing Afghanistan left and right . Please explain the reason for Pakistan reaction in this way . The same will Pakistan people will do with Bangladesh within few years .
With all due respect to Mr.Parvez Hoodbhoy, how much is it possible to know about the existing generations of different social backgrounds in a country, where we all live behind masks, by being present in a specific place for five days? Despite living in the current era of internet databases and search engines, most of the questions in the question and answer section are very ridiculous.

Sir jinnah died a long ago. The main culprit is Bhutto and yahia who didn't want a party from east Pakistan rule the whole Pakistan.
But Jinnah died in 1948.
How he is responsible for that
Breakup of Pakistan means you are super fine with Religious Amputation of India, happened first time in Earth's History but with Pakistan? How 😂

Dr. Mohammad Yunus' brother, Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim is a professor in the Physics department of Dhaka University. He was one of the inaugural speakers.
Dear sir. . Thank you for this session on reflections on your visit to Bangladesh. . Its always illuminating to find out how an outsider views us. .I spent a number if years from my childhood and youth around the Dhaka University area. . . My father, who happens to be a nuclear physicist, was also a student of Dhaka University. .he had lamented all his life how Ayub Khan had paved the way for genuine social mobility by creating scholarship programmes for East Pakistani students. .however, he still wanted an independent Bangladesh as a nation where the mighty Punjabi lords will not be there. . For generations we Bangladeshis have found peace in simple living, high thinking and have never admired rulers who attempted to remind the people that they are the rulers. . Hope you get to visit Bangladesh many more times . .Bangladeshis will definitely benefit from knowing there is a huge diverse world beyond India. .
Thanks for this comment. I find a soothing, simplistic yet very core foundational nationalistic feeling reading this.❤
Nice discussion ❤❤❤❤ from Bangladesh
Thanks for the talk, it has blown away my heart..🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
Save Bangladeshi hindus. 🇧🇩
Yes 👍
Yes i am watching it now from Dhaka.
That's your problem, you want to define anything on earth in terms of ownership.
For those who are unaware let me remind it was for the first time in the world history of UN that it has to set up abortion clinics in Bangladesh. Also the jagannath hall Parvez hoodboy is talking about is the hall in which all the Hindu students and professors were killed.
Can you provide me with some context of the mentioned killings please?
I watched the video of your talk in the inaugural ceremony, felt so good when I spotted prof biswarup mukhopadhyay sitting next to prof Ashok Sen,,, prof Mukhopadhyay is from the department of physical sciences at the Indian institute of science education and research kolkata, and I am a student here. I really enjoyed your speech in that ceremony.
❤🧡💛
Prayers for the everlasting peace between India, Pakistan, & Bangladesh !!!
🤲🤲🤲
Aameen, Elaahi Aameen
Meghnad Saha was a BIG scientist born nd brought in Dhaka in the first few decades of 20th century
Great show! We are really ashamed that you had this much hassle to visit our country. Hopefully this issue will be taken care of in no time. Please visit again and enlighten us with your valuable knowledge in coming days.
SN Bose is a Bengali and an Indian Hero. He was born and died in kolkata West Bengal, India.
I am from Bangladesh but not from Dhaka. 01:05:00 I would like to hear more from this guy.
6:02 The photo looks like Lahore or Karachi, in 1960s.
Intellectuals and Sari clad women, in Universities. So much local focus on culture.
I hope Bangladesh keeps it that way.
sir, I am from Dhaka Bangladesh. Thanks.
This Podcast from Professor is a Complete Eye Opener on How Far Bangladesh is evolved and how "Modern" Bangladesh is when Compared to Pakistan.
Respect, Pervez sahib
🇮🇳
Sir you are the best! We South Asians proudly own you as our own feel proud of you!
Very good discussion
Good observations by Prof Hoodbhoy on Bangladesh polity / culture.
Yeah, I am watching this from Bangladesh 🇧🇩 32:21
There are 53 public universities and 114 private universities in Bangladesh. 36:24
I am from India,R.N.Chaudhury (81),a
senior citizen of Kolkata.
I am delighted to listen the
factual statement of history by Prof.Hudboy.
I would remind the great
leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who led an army of liberation with the Hindu, Muslim,Sikh and Christian.
Partition of the Indian Subcontinent is curse on this sacred soil.
Time to learn something from Bangladesh ❤
Takes a long long time, brother.
Institution building is a long process. Takes decades.
In response, we declared, "If we have already given blood, we will give more, but we will ensure Hasina's removal."
In 1971, around 3 million martyrs sacrificed their lives. In 2024, over 1,500 lives were lost in the struggle for justice. 44:24
Watched from India. Nice program.👌
Thanks sir for your experience and beyond. 🇮🇳
Very in-depth and insightful discussion by the Professor Pervez Hoodbhoy, I'm very much enlightened and aspired by him from this video. It is my first time watching and knowing about him and also about this channel. Just by the title instinctively felt like it is going to be a insightful session. As I finished watching the entire session without skipping a bit, already ensures how good the discussion was considering my ever so fleeting attention span hahaha
😅
.. Keep it up, team black hole.
Loved it. Subbed it.❤
By a Bangladeshi, studying in Malaysia.
That's all fine, with all due respect tho.😅
Anyways, it's pretty much honouring to see a different perspective coming from intellectuals like Prof.
Thank you so much. Watching the program from Dhanmondi,Dhaka,BANGLADESH
Prof. Ashok Sen is someone who is admired by the whole scientific community of India and abroad. Prof. Sen is a living legend.
Thank you for sharing this video. I will watch Prof Hoodbouy more. This world needs such beings to lead the world. We humans need to rise above religion and nationality to tske care of humanity independently.
Sir, we are proud for your visit in Bangladesh .
A nation can be modern and progressive only when it accomodate all streams of ideas and thoughts and not based on narrow religious ideologies. Only scientific spirit and quest for truth based on rationality can achieve it.
I went bangladesh. Around 90's
I was not happy...
Everyone boss and sow power each other's...
Went to jessore. And faridpur.
Prof, you are some of few from Pakistani, rather our bro I watch.
You are doing good job. I hope there are more people like you, who would make pak are state where we can live together ❤️
*Sir we need a session on* : “complexity and randomness of quantum mechanics”
The topics for covering in session should be:
1) newtons corpuscular theory and young’s experiment
2) wave mechanics concepts like Schrödinger’s equation and De Broglie’s hypothesis.
3) elitzur vaidman bomb testing for quantum superposition.
4) how quantum computing is using entanglement.
Sir it’s enough.
Luv from a lower middle class boy of class 11th, and from Hyderabad ♥️🇵🇰
Every word he is saying , but in inside He is hurt and In Pain , Love From Bangladesh ❤️
Very true, let's make Bangladesh a loving for all!
Hope we will meet next time
& Will discuss the great time of the Bangladesh revolution 2024.
It is sad to see a thin crowd to listen to an intellectual. Pakistan is a hopeless case
Very honest discussion. Very rare these days.
Keep on dreaming you moron
It was all due to indian mind set of
Akhand Bharat
Now they will face partition of there sister states
I am from Bangladesh i am watching the show... The explanation revolution of Bangladesh all the talking is true.
Thanks from Bangladesh. Your way of talking is very catchy
Thanks for your present history, social, and scientific studies of current Bangladesh visa vis india and pakistan which gives positive attitude to common people.
Excellent report. Thanks
To my Indian friends who are struggling to make sense of the current events in Dhaka, here’s a quick snapshot from someone on the ground:
Before I discuss Sheikh Hasina, let me mention that my entire family and I voted for her Awami League in the last free and fair election in 2007.
Great discussion! Every young person should watch this. It provides valuable insights into understanding real history.
Thank you, The Black Hole!
Wow heard the name of Rabindranath Nath Tagore from a youngster there in the group...felt good
Wish this was in English as a Somali interested in both Pakistan and Bangladeshi relations.
Congratulations for Visited New Bangladesh❤❤❤
Some Complication that the speaker made -
1. Awami league (Hasinas party isnt banned), chatro league is banned under accusation of militant activity
2. wall art where students is spreading arm do mean AZADI but it is sinspired from the incident of Abu Sayed who go shot from few meters away while doing this pose
3. Jamayet Islami was banned only for a few days as Hasina wated to divert the focus from the movement
4. Students of present time are more politically aware and pissed of not because of the internet, but because similar student movement happened in Bangladesh multiple times from 19989, to 2024, but everytime the cause was lost because of the mistakes politicians repeated
These are a few of the complication very briefly mentioned above
Don't get me wrong. This student revolution has been hijacked by fundamentalists who is forcing their way into the government and those poor gullible students are left in utter shock. It is similar to Iranian revolution of 1979. Mark my words Younnis place will be in prison very soon after the next wave of secular revolution.
Bahtareen
👏👏👏
34:07 Wrong. Look up the direct action day
Thanks Dr Hood for sharing this video
37:22 They are Allowed in Our Temples Everywhere in India too
They are Friendly Cohabitants
For those who are outside the corporation, there is nothing but contempt and enmity,” BR Ambedkar
Thanks for confirming this assessment..
When others treat you differently you call it Islamophobia...what happens when you others your non Muslim minorities what phobias will you call it 😂😂😂
West Bengal Hindus already know where the loyalties lie.
" If a country has a fascist leader, this is a great horror for that country; but there is much greater horror: The existence of ignorant and unethical masses who support that primitive leader."
-Mehmat Murat Ildan
Very nice Q&A session
Thank you sir.
Save bangladesh hindus guys. I have seen india flag on groud of bangkadeshi college. Students stepping on it .
Right 👍👍hindu lives matter too
Bangladeshi establishment took reasonable measures in Hasina,s government to wash the imprints of fundamentalists.even some nonsense were put to deaths.but in Pakistan Mullah Military alliance is much strengthened and created barrier to stop knowledge dissemination.this is unfortunate.
Long live Pervez Hoodbhoy, your are very knowledgeable ❤
Sir thanks for the scientifico_cultural presentation a daring attempt on your part. Its equally astonishing how it escaped the sacred firewall 😂
Talk is good. Now we can expect the Nobel prize for Science and Literature from Pak and BD.
Bose-Einstein condensate.....Bose is not some small Scientiist
There are 166+ Universities in Bangladesh. 55 Public, 108 Private and 03 International Universities as per University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
Great video, thank you very much , note to self(nts) watched ……1:19:00
37:50 in Hinduism their is most powerful God SHIVA the destroyer also called PASUPATINATH it means animal's God.❤❤
