Oh great! Now I know how to treat my bamboo! Thank you very much. Greetings from Germany. By the way, I'm using the Bobil-Vans Heat Exchanger, it works great!

Tell you something interesting. I have used the sureflo for years.
I jump from aircraft to aircraft at LHR on the towteam.
One thing relevant here is how quiet the water pumps are in the aircraft toilets.
They might be 27Volts but we could probably source a stepup.

I have hot and cold running side by side, like literally side by side, mm apart. Absolutely no issues... 👌 i also bought a shower tray that you have room to run both main heating pipe, hot and cold plus a few wires in my case, no issues 😊

You should have no issues running hot and cold together...but just not touching. If you are using the 'talon' pipe clips, then you can clip 2 or more together. They naturally give you about 10mm of spacing, but keep it neat and tidy.

Hi Sean, you didn’t show the Bobil controller/wiring, there is a new more simple model now with a motorised flap diverted and WiFi control, worth the upgrade if you purchased the older style one 👍

Thin down first coats of oil with meths, if it’s compatible. It helps get it right in deep

You could install an induction cooker instead of running on gas bottles.

So what do you do with all that interior heat when it’s a hundred degrees outside? More air conditioning?

Hey great job, deffo going for this system! Curious with wiring, what wires did you need to run to the system?

Your build is so similar to mine. I’ve used Evo furniture, Victron electrics etc, only on an extended Sprinter. Agree with you about the pipe work, it is bonkers how many different sizes of fittings you need. I used the same over arch tank, I mounted my pump and expansion tank on a finished furniture board that hinges down for access, so they sit in the arch space, to get around the wrong direction issue.

Great progress and well explained thanks ❤. Curious on one thing with the hot water heating, if you are heating the hot water with diesel in summer will it mean the van gets roasting hot from the waste hot air going through heat exchanger ? Or would you just use the 12v instead I guess to hear the hot water, would that only work on hookup ? Wondering if you could use offgrid or would it be too greedy on pose.

Ah I probably should’ve explained that. That’s another reason for setting it up so that the excess heat which, after testing has proven it isn’t too much, is only sent into the shower room if we have the diverter flap set fully towards the heat exchanger. Meaning the shower room may get warm but it’ll probably be used as a drying room.
However we don’t intend to use the diesel heater as our primary method of heating the hot water. The bobil system can use the excess solar to heat the hot water so hopefully that’ll be our primary method. Especially in the summer when we won’t want our diesel heater on.

Aha that bobil sounds smart using the excess solar ❤. Great setup. We have similar solar diverter on our house for excess solar powering immersion heater in hot water tank. I had no idea you could get similar in 12v for a van ! Perfect solution 😊
