Life got chaotic and I just learned of Dave’s passing. I am so sorry Joe; I couldn’t breathe because the world is missing a spark, the lightbulb over the head. And I never met him Joe, so I know your world is never going to be the same. His love for you was obvious to us strangers and I hope it helps carry you through your grief. A lot of good that I have done is a direct result of learning from Dave. And God didn’t shut him up…his words are legend and carry on on in all the things we do right because Dave taught us lovingly how we were doing wrong. Thank you Dave. RIP

I never knew him but read his blog for many year for his insight and humanity. Condolences to those who were in his life - he left a mark on the world.

RIP Dave. You were one of my favourite speakers to listen to in these open learning videos because of your no nonsense and straightforward approach on things. I feel like I learnt a lot from your talks about how to really show respect to someone as a fellow human being before anything else and I have seen through my own work the benefits of giving personal space too. So thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. 💐

“He called out bullshit whenever he saw it and saw it with wisdom and clarity”.
This is so incredibly true of this man. He has helped me recognize, confront and overcome the systemic bullshit that we continue to face as care providers, families and human beings. Dave has brought me and countless coworkers so much clarity and changed the way that many of us see our work and comprehend the meaning behind it.
Dave's work has left an incredible mark on my life, and I have no doubt that it will continue to inspire generations to come. I only wish I could have discovered him earlier and had the opportunity to shake his hand.

I'm just really sad that I just today found out about Dave's brilliance but he's already gone.
Thank you for the wonderful ideas shared that we can go on using to improve lives of PWD.

I was going to your blog when I read the sad news. Your life had a huge impact and will still continue to impact others even though you are no longer with us. Not many could say that. Rest easy, Dave. You’ve earned it.

Rest Easy, Dave. You were a huge inspiration during my recent studies and I’d often watch your videos on UA-cam or through Conversations That Matter to gain your perspective on different situations in the industry.. your views were always refreshing and based on common sense. Thank you, Dave.

Dave, I really enjoyed your talks of sexuality at the Inclusion BC Conferences. I will sadly miss you. You were one of my favorite workshops at the conferences.

Is there a link to the video at 50 seconds in where the woman praises Dave’s idea?
