Something that would be awesome is the ability to set box art size uniformity, even if it has to fill in with blank space if the box art doesn't completely fill the given size. It would improve the overall look greatly. (I'm speaking mainly of the all games section, the other sections were mostly uniform.) Also, remember how you could choose different borders and backgrounds for text boxes in Secret of Mana? Something like that implemented for the game selection boxes would be REALLY cool.
Looks promising. The colored border around the box art however is distracting. Much prefer the cleaner look of the original LB. Hopefully there is a option in a future version to select how the artwork is displayed
Loving all that you've done with the new upgrades. Launchbox Next is a wonderful evolution of the already amazing original LB. I have one question though, is it possible to have the dark boxes that surround the games be uniform? I don't like the boxes being different sizes, I would rather everything uniform. A bit of OCD I guess. Lol.
Hi Bob, this is most likely caused by a stray game controller. Try turning off "Use All Controllers" in the options, if you can manage it, or disconnect controllers.
Thanks! :) That fixed it! It's the first time it's happened through any update, but if anyone else gets this issue, as you say, unplug all controllers, and reconnect. I also restarted but that was causing the problem like you say. Good work! :)
Yeah 8.3 is amazing more so when I use Next part of launchbox. I use to experience a lot of slow downs when browsing my games, but now so far it has not slowed down for me which is great.
I was on board with Next since 8.2 and it's only got better. Love what's been done with it and how FAST it is on my system! It's stored on my HDD (storage drive) and i swear it opens faster than some apps do on my NVME SSD! I feel it suits the modern Win 10 style more also.
Does this version make it easier to add the "difficult" systems like NEO-GEO and Dreamcast? I set my system up about 6 months ago and managed to sort it out myself but not without going through loads of UA-cam videos and help sites. A friend asked me to set up a system for his son but frankly I am not going through all that hassle again for someone else.
Well done, using Launchbox Premium since a few weeks and it's just awesome, only the Bixbox themes are a little bit annoying to set up correctly with background and console pictures. Would also like to see a "Favourites" section besides the different consoles with your favourites from all the platforms.
You mention that you can set a custom core per game but is there an option to set that custom core as the default launch core per game? It would save having to use ‘launch with’ each time rather than just PLAY.
I know it's been discussed before but haven't been following the forums lately. Are the plans for linux still a possibility? Retroarch is working on a LB-like interface but it's much too premature.
Hi Tony, based on the feedback we've been getting, it seems that Android is more commonly requested, so we're looking into tackling Android for the moment.
Retroarch needs to be consumed by you guys. ran like two different divisions but it would be amazing if when i downloaded launchbox it downloaded retroarch as well. Or when i install a new platform it automatically downloaded the proper core from retroarch for that game. With the ability to use other emulators or other cores, but for the ease of setup for the majority of people out there the more you guys integrate with retroarch the better.
I know this won't be read... Maybe NOT use retroarch for 90% of emulators.... It has done nothing but NOT make me use Launchbox, which I bought, or retroarch..
Hey guess what, we read it. Honestly, I don't understand why you're choosing to dig at us for supporting Retroarch, but to each his own. Yes, you can use any emulator you want.

I love how much faster NEXT is.
Yeah, that's my favorite part about it.
I got it but haven't had a chance to play with it. But the weekend is nigh lol

Launchbox is getting better and better....
You guys are spoiling us,with these constant updates...
Great work Jason and the Team......

We're definitely gonna come up with some options there soon, yup. :)
Unbroken Software, LLC Thanks, can't wait 🙂 Keep up the great work!
I've just updated, and when launchbox is running, my mouse cursor constantly moves right now?

Ah man, that retroarch integration is fantastic!!!
Great to hear! :)
I’ve been dying for this!
the transparent boxes around the images with different sizes makes it look off, why not make it uniform? (boxes different size? scale them)
Thanks for the heads-up!
Damn fine work, the Retroarch drop down is a god send when getting up and going and the choose core is amazing when troubleshooting a platform
om :D

What Big Box themes were those at the end of the video? LOVE 'em!
If I have a launch box image on an external hard drive would it mess the collection if I tried upgrading to the new update?
And most importantly it's so much quicker and smoother 😁
ETA Great work man, because of you i have built a Ryzen3 and bought BigBox, i am following your tutorials, happy i subscribe here
Where were you 20 years ago LoL
Very Cool! Keep up the good work...

Great work.
I hope the next major update completely replaces the original interface with Next. It looks and performs so much better it's not even funny!

guys when will you do a 20$ lifetime license sale?
I love my launch box. I even imported my steam games so I have the best of both old school and new school in one front end
Guys, how can you change the background in launchbox next? Been trying to find it but no luck so far..
I'm loving launch box and the new updates I'm hoping and praying that one day there will be a version for Android
One day...maybe soon. ;)
Oh man an android version would take over my life xD
Any plans for Mac pleeeeas 😇

That's cool. Hopefully porting from Android to mainline linux will be a breeze.

the NEXT Phase for Update
Im really want to use Big Box Premium but dont have Amazon or Credit Card. Just Online Banking , Paypal or Paysafe :(
RetroArch = Retrospective + Archive
How do you pronounce "archive"? Like "chive", the spice? It's "Kive". Retro Ar"Kive". Retro "Ark".
