    It reminds me of cheaper styles you'd find at a toursty shop. Their prices are wild.

    I honestly don't think wrinkling is a problem. Nowadays we're used to clothes not wrinkling because that is how we were sold on polyester in the 1960s and 70s. Clothing is supposed to wrinkle as you wear it. You're supposed to iron it regularly. An friend of mine who's an older man once joked with me that when he was young, you could tell who at a party had been sitting and talking because their trousers would be wrinkled. I just love that. Wrinkles are okay!

      @do_not_enter 3 місяці тому +35

      Exactly my thought esp when it’s 100% cotton! With a dress like this, after wash just shake it couple times, smooth the wrinkles out, hang it to dry and you will be good to go. I do this even with my button downs when I’m too lazy to iron/steam lol

    • @TheGPFilmMaker
      @TheGPFilmMaker 3 місяці тому +7

      I had the exact same thought. I haven't been able to wear poly in a while due to some skin issues. I wear a lot of linen and a lot of cotton and I keep my iron out essentially all the time to accommodate this!

    • @annewithane7876
      @annewithane7876 3 місяці тому +9

      On the one hand, I agree, but on the other hand, not all cotton is equally wrinkly. Some super lightweight woven cotton is basically unwearable in my experience. But if it has a nice weight to it, it tends to wrinkle less. I think knits are also a bit less wrinkly.

    • @annewithane7876
      @annewithane7876 3 місяці тому +4

      I don't mind ironing but I've had a few skirts that look like they've been sitting balled up in the bottom of a laundry basket a few hours after putting them on even if I iron with starch. It's just cheap thin material I think that's the issue

    • @haliku9705
      @haliku9705 2 місяці тому +7

      Fabrics that wrinkle are usually more breathable too. Linen is very wrinkly but super breathable and soft, which is totally a trade off I’m willing to make!

    A woman from India recently told me that Organic cotton is basically a scam. That it’s basically very cheap cotton from India being labeled as “organic” and marked up to a very expensive price point for North Americans and Europeans. Thoughts?

    • @christinareynolds8179
      @christinareynolds8179 3 місяці тому +19

      I have seen fabric tests done on “organic cotton” and it was mostly viscose…

      There are certification programs, such as OEKO-TEX. This is an excerpt from Aritzia's own documents. So essentially, they put onus on the suppliers and while not all do, some do provide fraudulent certifications for the sake of getting the contract. There are some companies doing it right, but they're usually much smaller scale.
      "2.1 COTTON
      • Aritzia will preferentially source more sustainable cotton, namely organic, transitional, recycled , and BCI.
      • As members of the Better Cotton Initiative, Aritzia will at times require BCI credits from our Suppliers.
      • Any materials containing organic materials will require certification (GOTs or OCS) to independently validate feedstock sources."

    • @yellowfelloh
      @yellowfelloh Місяць тому

      "organic" and "natural" are misnomers and are just marketing tactics. they dont use chemicals or pesticides but they will use other fertilizers and manure and growth enhancers regardless, how else can they produce that much volume? manufacturers will just pay a board to slap organic on the label. there are so many instances of fraud in terms of organic food i wouldnt be surprised if the same is for cotton

    • @yellowfelloh
      @yellowfelloh Місяць тому

      as of two weeks ago BCI has been linked to illegal deforestation, human rights abuses and land grabbing in Brazil. these boards mean nothing and just provide a little logo on the tag to make yourself feel better

      men's clothes seem better quality to me, the men's jeans i got from Walmart several months ago are still so comfy and don't have a single hole, meanwhile the women's jeggings i got at the same time are literally falling apart even though i wear them way less since they're really annoying to put on :/

    Half of the stuff at Aritzia looks really cheap. I've been there before, and I wasn't impressed. The linen pants, see-through dresses, and other items aren't flattering on the body at all. I'd rather purchase clothes from somewhere else.

    I wish I could shop at aritzia but with my body shape I need to shop in person and I was body shamed by the staff and they implied that someone with my body shape didn’t belong there, same with my friend. There’s a reason they only carry up to a 10 in stores and it’s because they don’t you in there unless you’re a twig

    • @Sleipnirseight

    • @timeiswhat
      @timeiswhat Місяць тому

      That sucks that they were rude to you but we don't need to refer to people size 10 and under as "twigs" either... We can all agree retailers are all kinds of messed up.

    • @theolligarden
      @theolligarden Місяць тому

      @@timeiswhat I agree that these retailers are messed up and I apologize that my comment may have come off as calling anyone under size 10 a twig, I personally am below that right now and am far from resembling a pole. I meant to call out styles and sizes that exclusively cater to thin and not-curvy women. Not to mention that far more women are a size 12 than 00 yet they only carry the latter in stores. I think it can just get hard to see so many people and creators raving about this brand and then to try to shop there and find that I am not welcome in their stores because I don’t resemble the right body type to them.

  • @BBsheepy
    @BBsheepy 2 місяці тому +2

    I personally wouldn't support aritzia, since they bought reigning champ my mom is getting layoff from the factory in Vancouver, as they are moving the factory to Vietnam 😤

    • @theolligarden
      @theolligarden Місяць тому

      Don’t forget the body shaming from the brand itself and the stores! Even the employees have been guilty of this in my experience. The whole community mirror with them making comments does a number on your self esteem when you’re a size 8 and curvy.

    Fast fashion. Looks like target. Not modern. I’m confused by all of this and the prices. I’m confused you’d think a handkerchief hem is in style and one can buy all of these things at the thrift store. Organic cotton means very little. Who is buying this stuff???
