Hello, I am a Jamaican also of mostly "Lebanese" descent. If I may add, the more precise name for us should be Christian Arab Jamaicans. The reason for this was anyone who lived in that part of the world and was not Muslim faced oppressive discrimination. They were not only Lebanese but there were also Egyptian, Palestinian and Syrians in the mix. Considering at this time this entire region was ruled under the Ottoman empire it could gave been easily mixed up. Also the Arabs started immigrating to Jamaica as early as the 1840's due to the rise and spread of Wahabism a sect of Sunni Islam which has a very strict interpretation of Islam and is still widely practiced today throughout the Middle East.

Not to be rude but they fear they are losing their culture. But at least they know their roots. What about the Black Jamaicans who had their name changed, identity ripped apart?

I was touring in Germany nuff times but I didn't know that the Germans were living in Jamaica in 1835. Recently was in Germany talking about it and they were shocked to hear that but someone in the audience said it's true I got German Family lives in Jamaica and I said give them around of applause 🤜🏾🤛🏻. Long live The German People In Jamaica known as Germaicans🖤💚💛

Everyone wants to leave instead of staying and trying to build up Jamaica and improve Jamaican culture.

I can relate. My dad is Jamaican German heritage, and his family felt my mom was too "dark skinned." Still feel the pain of that rejection today 😊
