Interesting that China's salary at $970 is pretty high by the standards of where its GDP per capita is at. That number is 8 times higher than India, but China's economy is not 8 times India's size in nominal value. Furthermore, despite being quite close in level of development, China's salary level is higher than Mexico, Brazil, Russia and Turkey; almost the same as Greece, and around half the level of Spain and Italy which are considered "rich" countries. China's economic advantage would be its size, scale, supply chains, and relatively high efficiency for its development level, and nothing to do with it having "low" wages. Most of the world has substantially cheaper labour than China.
