A Namibian APOCALYPSE ☠️ [S5 - Eps. 48]

  • In this episode I visit a famous place in Namibia, called Sossusvlei. Because of recent rains, Sossusvlei has water, but neighbouring Deadvlei hasn't seen water in hundreds of years. Walking around in one of the most surreal landscapes I've ever seen, it's as if the apocalypse was here..

Noraly I just became a owner of my dream bike a 40th anniversary GSA . Being a big fan of yours I was going to name her. I thought that I would name her after a famous explorer. Trying to find one that just felt right but I couldn't find one that would fit. Days of thinking and thinking and I had nothing. Then one day watching one of your videos it hit me like a rock. I have been watching a famous explorer. I named my bike in honor of you Noraly

Itchy Boots offesr you a free holyday, be it a virtual one. I travelled some time through Mid- and East Africa and know a bit how it looks like. However, her very deep insight and the happy faces she leaves when departing, does tell enough. Furthermor she does it alone. No crew, no editor, no director, just her. Compare that with the other channels! She has a degree in geology and know perfectly about mountains and caves. The best tourguide youe may ever wish for!

Same here, I don't understand how some people can appreciate such desolate landscapes (maybe I would visit South Africa, which has them all, mountains, desert, animals, beautiful beaches and cities, but that's it), but the information she offers and her nice personality definitely make it bearable even for a "green" lover.

I'm a beach, the ocean with waves that are all different, never one exactly like it before and never will be again, they're here briefly and gone. I like the blues, greens, browns and grays, the white froth and the clear. To each their own but, I think the sense of wonder is the same. If there's something that does it for you, you like to see that excitement in others. I think with Noraly it's that, how alive she is and that she constantly reinforces the message that people are good. All of the information she shares and the way she does it kicks a persons quest for knowledge into high gear. All in all, we're better humans because of Itchy Boots.

All of Namibias national parks do not allow motorcycles in. I can understand off road bikes being a problem, but adventure bikes would stay on the roads just like the cars do. They should make an exception for adventure/road bikes and just ban off road riding, maybe impose a hefty fine if someone does. They are excluding a large contingent of potential travellers from entering these amazing places.

Itchy Boots, the best channel on UA-cam... Wow, Wow Wow.. that stunning (as always) drone footage with the accompanying music caused me to expect Clint Eastwood to emerge from the top of a dune on horseback, with a small cigar in his mouth.....his eyes squinting....scanning the horizon with caution and confidence...

You mastered it! I could feel your frustration face behind the helmet right after you passed the gate because Savanah was not allowed to go to the park! And then your positive energy wiht a smiling face in the next take sinking in the dunes. Beautiful!

That does look like the Namib-Nankulft Lodge, at Sessriem. Although there was only the one main building there when it opened in 1998. I wonder if any of the same people still work there.
Took a hike with an employee named Peter. Found a leopard's lair, cobra eggs (empty)...and thousands of migrating butterlies. What an astonishing place....

There she is !! Love that shadow riding ... great desert road music, well done ... 2 x fill ups ... what an odd looking accommodations ... the dunes looks like something from a mars landing film. I can see it now, thousand of years later, the cry out, "hey, i found a Noraly boot print!!" .. Drony is out again ... incredible landscape shots (one of the best) ... you did alot of walking ... amazing once we're off the bike we realize how out of shape we are...great how nature works with the pods ... be careful, stay safe ...

Noraly, you never cease to amaze me, but I have to tell you that you have outdone yourself with this episode. I don't know if it is because you and I share a sense of wonder at what the Creator, (he, she, it, whatever) has placed all around us, but these scenes have transported (pun intended) me out of this world. Each of your shots are worthy to hang in the Museum of Natural History. You need to process them as photographs for sale immediately so that we can display them in our homes. Remember when you handed out gifts back home this past Christmas, I think that they have all been returned to you in multiples! God continue to bless you, and us through you.

And it is said that if you say the name "Noraly" you will gain access to all of the world's sights, and that when she came here, she forgot to say her name, and that's why she was not permitted to ride her mount into the dunes.

I loved the cafe in Solitaire. The pies are fantastic especially considering the remote location. Great riding Noraly. Gnarly roads there. We helped rescue a 4x4 that had completely rolled just outside the turn for Sesriem. Seeing these videos makes me want to return to the Namib. Keep up the great videos (and the insight to the geology 😁).

Dutch author Ton van der Lee wrote a book about Solitaire. He stayed there for a while when it was no more than a gas station actually. Eventually he left, but nowadays there is a lodge and a cafe called Cafe Van Der Lee. Don't think he has an interest in it though. Anyway, great book and a Dutch reminder in Namibia.
