Saying Khabib is "boring" is kind of like calling an expert electrician "boring". He goes in there and gets the job done with a perfect 5 star rating. What people really mean when they say that is that they wish someone who wins like Khabib had a different style.

@Lars K. That's definitely not true- almost every negative comment I've read about Khabib had to do with him buddying up to Ramzan Kadyrov, the brutal Chechen dictator, which you did not mention. I've never read a single negative comment about him being a Muslim. And people that didn't like him after he beat Conor are generally the same that didn't like him before he beat Conor.

And this is coming from a Legend himself. I remember studying Bas Rutten as a kid when training. One of my earliest influences for sure.
I laughed when Bas Rutten said stand-up comedy was the most nerve-wracking thing you do. I've done both MMA and stand-up comedy, and I found MMA much more nerve-wracking. In stand-up comedy, if you screw up you walk away a little embarrassed. In MMA, if you screw up, you can get a broken nose.
You will get used to breaking your nose.

Bas is the man. I wish more UFC fighters would use open palm strikes like he used to, especially against the ears. Those were so effective.
The reason he used open palm strikes is because punches were not allowed in Pancrase at the time.
He also has spoken repeatedly on their effectiveness, and the cons of using closed fists. Open palm strikes certainly have their place, even against a puncher. It's just a matter of rules and training

I don't understand why Karate Combat doesn't allow low-kicks (and if I remember correctly not even hooks) with the argument that they don't want to be like kickboxing (even though several Karate Ryu allow them) but then they don't have the fights in full Karate-Gi but with naked torso, just like kickboxing.
GOAT conversations never made sense to me because every era is different; good to know that someone like Bas who has been around for a while feels the same way.

I think what they should do with weigh ins is to have them at the start of the fight. For every pound they are over give 10 percent of their purse to the opponent. Fighters will fight at their actual weights cause nobody will want to give money to their opponent and nobody will want to chug down much more than a 32 oz Gatorade right before a fight. Problem solved.
I did Judo from 7 to 19 and Bas is right about martial arts teaching respect. They teach respect for others but more importantly they teach self respect.
