In my region I just want the ability to have a low maintenance way to run refrigeration on hot days when the grid is shut off due to wildfire risk. So how can I get Secure Power Supply now, in the USA under the new rapid shutdown rules? I don't want batteries.
I was told about 1.5 years ago the Sunnyboy -41 inverters can support both Secure Power Supply and 2017NEC rapid shutdown and provide a DC-DC optimizer at each solar panel. However, you will also need communication (via roofcomkit-P2) back to a TS4-R-S or a TS4-R-O shutdown/optimizer device. I was told the TS4-R-F shutdown/optimizers do not support both module level monitoring and secure power supply. However, it would be wise to talk with your PV system designer/installer and manufacturer. I don't know if the TS4-R-S or TS4-R-O are readily available any more. I am seeing they are out of stock and no longer available on a couple of web sites.
SMA's Optimizers are made by TIGO. You now order Tigo's TS4-A-O optimizers to go with the SMA inverter. For Secure Power Supply to function properly with rapid shutdown, every panel will need Tigo's TS4-A-O optimzer or Tigo's TS4-A-S monitor w/o optimization. I am not sure there is a significant price difference between the TS4-A-S and the TS4-A-O. There are now DUO versions out that reduces part count but not much expense. Maybe you can get a better break on the install with fewer optimizers to mount to the solar panels.
Excellent video. Thank you! I’ll be getting two 7.7 unit’s soon and the more I can learn about them the better.
Nice to see the lights more closely...
Is there a reset in the 6000 tl unit for the Secure Power Supply? I had a elect arc fault got that reset and the SPS, is not working.
I have DC A - showing readings , DC - B and DC - C show zero and my production has dropped 50 % from 2023 , is my inverter faulty ?:
I need a key for an SMA RSD controller. Can anyone help? I feel like I have searched the entire internet
Thank you.
