  • Hello metalheads,
Here is a cover of the song "Into the Fire" from Sabaton's album "Primo Victoria", released back in 2007.
This is a song that I used to listen some years ago, but never was able to play it, especially the fast alternate picking part, which is repeated endlessly. But damn does it sound amazing. This song has an amazing feel to it, which I always experience when I listen to it, but mostly when I play it.
Small info about the use of capo here:
My guitar is tuned in D Standard, which is 2 steps/1 tone lower than the standard tuning (E) in which this song is recorded.
If you listen carefully their lives, they play the songs 1 tone lower so it is easier for Joakim to sing.
In studio, they use standard tuning, live they use the same tuning I have here (2 step lower).
Even with a different tuning, you can usually get away with it by translating all the cords 2 steps higher (to match the recording tuning), but in this case, the beginning part (which is repeated throughout the song) is based on the open G string. This is why the capo was required in my case, so that my open G string matches the one on the recording.
Hope you'll enjoy it. If you do, please smash the like button, leave a comment and subscribe!

You know, Primo Victoria was the first Sabaton CD I ever bought, and to this day Into the Fire is one of my favorite songs by them. And what I love about listening to covers like this is it can make you hear something you never did in a song you've heard countless times. Be it the production or just the guitar tones, but I never really heard the intricacies of the riff during the pre-chorus. Great job, my dude! Can't wait to see what you put out in the future!

I totally agree, that's what I like the most about doing them 😁. The pre-chorus is also my favorite part of this song. And I myself did not notice it until I saw it on other covers. But once you hear it, you will notice it in the studio version as well. Especially if you can put your hands on a lossless version, FLAC or WAV. I really hated that the Promo Victoria album was so poorly mastered/recorded 😔.
Comments like this are why I keep doing this 😁. Thanks again!

Random question: why are you using a capo? I've seen Sabaton perform this live and they didn't use them.

      Hello Jake,
My guitar is tuned in D Standard, which is 2 steps/1 tone lower than the standard tuning (E) in which this song is recorded.
If you listen carefully their lives, they play the songs 1 tone lower so it is easier for Joakim to sing.

      Hope that made sense :D
