  • Shipping has historically been a male-dominated industry and that tradition runs long and deep. However, through its global programme on the Integration of Women in the Maritime Sector, IMO is making a concerted effort to help the industry move on from that tradition and to help women achieve a representation within it that is more in keeping with twenty-first century expectations.
This film shows how the work of IMO, and others, is beginning to promote change for the better for women in shipping, and highlights first-hand experiences from some of those who have already succeeded.

If the "Yachting Sector" of the maritime industry would just open up their eyes and adopt the same philosophy and mentality as the IMO had done, things would be progressing alot faster for women trying to advance ondeck and in the bridge on yachts. It is a shame that this sector is so behind in doing this.

I had to follow a nautical study and apply for my CoC. Nobody helped me with that, certainly the IMO not when they implemented the degrading level of the STCW. Why is it that women need help than? Why do you need empowerment in order to make the correct choices in life? Your problem is that you think that men are dominating women which is an absurd idea. How dominating are you women towards men in industries like healthcare, biological engineering, education etc etc. If you follow your logic about male domination than it is the women who are the real dictators. The truth is that like men, women make certain choices in life. These choices mean that you directly influence your chances or opportunities. Unfortunately are men blamed in the indoctrinating philosophy of the modern feminism for the failure of women to stand up for themselves. When do these Social Justice Warriors finally understand that men and women for centuries worked together in order to overcome huge problems for the excistance of humanity. Working together is not possible when you think that men are holding women back or even oppress them. The truth is that I work for more than 30 years in this industrie and when I studied for my nautical and engineering degrees it was normal to have female students in our classes. Where are they now? Exactly they made choices that caused them to leave the shipping industry. The conjunctive capacities of humans are within the same spectrum so men and women can learn the same things, why is it than that you women think that it is your way that is the best? Culture is not based on your sorry opinions but on facts. The only thing that you achieve with your stupid messages is that I, as a male person, hate my work in this industry. Lucky for me I only have a few more years to go for my retirement, lucky for you women that I as a male will make place for you. Bad luck for you women that I will not share my knowledge and experience with anybody as I will never ever set foot on a vessel anymore. For ones start thinking for yourselves, blaming men for your choices is not a good idea, thinking that you have superqualities is not an good idea. As a man I do not need such people around me. My advantage as a male is that I perfectly can live a solitary life without women. There is nothing that you offer me that I can't do for myself.
