    This time, our Suspect puts on a show in inferno showcasing cruel bullying of this teammates, and suspicious shooting that screams Wallhacking. Is it enough to convict?

      Wow really? You must've seen alot of shitty overwatchers then. I've been doing overwatch since it first came out and always done it like the WarOwl just demonstrated. I guess 2500+ hours of being an admin in TF2 + CSS helped as well.

      MrJipvh he's right. Almost every streamer does overwatch, including the pros, and so many times I've seen them say "well im not sure, but let's say cheating". WAY too many people vote guilty even when they themselves have reasonable doubt, these same people are probably jurors. :(

    I wish Overwatch/Demos included audio from voice chat as well.
    I say wish because I realize that this would really impact game performance, but think of all the evidence you'd round up if the team was in on it. You would also hear the team yelling "Yeah, report him cause he's good!" if they're abusing the report system.
    Just a thought.

    • @harpake
      @harpake 9 років тому +7

      That's not abuse though. It's tough for the opposing team to tell if a player is hacking for sure since they can't see it from his perspective. Reporting suspicious players so overwatchers can take a look doesn't hurt players that are just playing well.

    • @AarieaaronFTW
      @AarieaaronFTW 9 років тому +23

      Its also very important to know if he has intel or not, if he doesn't and he does something suspicious it means a lot for the accusation, if he does have intel that might change the verdict. Shooting through a random smoke is pretty weird if you don't know someone yelled "Banana going to mid" in chat.

    • @MiauFrito
      @MiauFrito 9 років тому

      People can use external chat programs... and Valve's intentions are to keep overwatch players not knowing who they are reviewing

    • @AarieaaronFTW
      @AarieaaronFTW 9 років тому +5

      MiauFrito They do, but it's info thats needed. I want to know if they are a 5 man premade or if he is solo queue-ing. Thats info that can determine the verdict.

    • @AarieaaronFTW
      @AarieaaronFTW 9 років тому

      ***** Then have them sign something like that, Overwatch needs improvement, looking at someone play the game isn't doing much, playback is 16 tick so that means that most small aim assistance things can easily be overlooked, no text or voicechat meaning we don't know if they have the information needed to attempt to prefire. There we have Aim assistance and Wallhacks that we cannot accurately review.

  • @george03016

    I would just like to start by saying I really enjoyed the video. It was great to see your clear process in determining guilt. If I can give one point of criticism tho it would be to not use the term "hacker". The term is thrown around so loosely now that it has basically lost any real meaning. Those who chose to use visual assistance, aim assistance, or other scripts are at best cheaters and NOT hackers. I wouldn't call myself a Tailor because I bought a pair of pants, nor would I call myself a hacker because I bought a script/bot/program.
    I say this as someone who has used scripts/bots in games and for other purposes. Asside from learning a lot about the technology involved, I also learned the difference between being a hacker and a simple script kiddy/cheater. I started out as a kiddy and a cheater, now I can write my own scripts and bots and I do so in my career in IT. I no longer cheat, for those of you who will throw stones.
    Point is, a hacker is someone with profound knowledge of the technology who alters or exploits a system for any purpose. Someone who simply buys/steals/uses a hackers work, is just a cheater, a simple script kiddy. They have no idea how or why what they are using does what it does, they are just happy it works. I started there, I graduated from it, I learned and I am better off for it. It is time as a community we stop gratifying every cheaters want to be known as something special. Let me tell you when I was 14 and I was called a hacker because I used a bot I found on the internet, I felt like a bad-ass. It is what you want when you know nothing, to be called something more. Stop gratifying that mentality and surely some of the cheaters will fade away as they no longer feel satisfied being called a cheater instead of a hacker.

    Please make this a series! It could teach so many users of Overwatch a lot. You have a very good idea of the game as well as a good system of judgement. I watch a lot of these videos because i enjoy the Overwatch system, but so many people get it wrong, they go in straight away thinking the person is hacking and immediately they see something that is complete dumb luck and label them a hacker.. its quite sad really. Thank you, War Owl. Keep up the awesome videos you sexy voiced man-beast.

    I remember seeing the original Noir Smart, PI video and hoping it would turn into its own series the way Captain Longbeard did XD Now my dream is finally coming true! Haha!
    I was scratching my head a little as this does seem a little redundant with what you did basically every streaming day for last year, but if you do decide to turn this into a series, I would definitely watch it. I was always a little uncomfortable with the "trial by mob" feel of the overwatch on stream, and I enjoy how this version goes into your own thought process a little more.
    Cheers! Nam amor ludum,
    -Hrairoo53

    • @TheWarOwl
      @TheWarOwl  9 років тому +4

      I don't base my decisions by the mob on the stream, they are there to catch stuff I may have missed, and direct me back to specific rounds. I would say it actually helps! There were a few times where I was going to put innocent, people pointed something out, and I changed my pick, probably for the better!

    • @JordanYee
      @JordanYee 9 років тому

      TheWarOwl Yeah, I understand that, in the long-term, crowd-sourcing is probably more helpful than harmful, but it's nice to see the same format without all of the internet's noise thrown in. ;)
      I would love to see this as a series, maybe with your friends/mods in on the discussion. I could even see this as a subset of your "podcast" circle of playlists, where you discuss patterns in cheating and online interaction in the community.

    • @TheWarOwl
      @TheWarOwl  9 років тому +8

      Jordan Yee If I continue this series, and it really seems like people want me to do that based on the comments! (Yes I read them all) I'll probably keep a format similar to this one, without repeating all the set up to what it is about, instead jumping directly into the Overwatch, keeping it more of a mix of comedy and analysis, nothing heavy, just fun. I've talked about cheating before, there's not really much I really have to offer to that conversation.

    Exhibit C for Wallhacking was absolutely not even close to suspicious.
    People swipe their knives like they swipe their phones, so it wasn't suspicious at all.

    • @fbx17
      @fbx17 4 роки тому +1

      He stopped walking forward, took a step back then continued to forward again before swiping with his knife - this was likely done to allow the knife to be properly pulled out, so he could try and swipe at the guy. Also, the fact that he didn't reload before going through the smoke suggests he knew there wasn't anybody there to shoot.
      Anyways, doesn't really matter as this was 4 years ago and he'll probably be banned now.

  • @YassineELAZMI
    @YassineELAZMI 9 років тому +16

    I saw a lot of overwatch clicking on "beyond any resonable doubts" even if the guy doesn't look 100% suspicious. I leave comments to that kind of overwatch just to tell them that no one will ever try to preshoot or wall bang just by fear that one day a dumb overwatch will get them banned.
    People these days jump on the first occasion to call someone a hacker. Personnaly I have around 1000 hours in game and I only met 2 hackers all that time. So there are just people that are a lot better than us in counter strike. Calling for a hack everytime you get hs by someone, or being shot into the smoke, won't do you any good especially if you want to get better in the game.

    I definitely would like to see more of these. It's good to see some arguments made FOR and AGAINST the demoed player. People might learn how to judge suspected cheating with the judicial system approach that you just can't go with the masses against someone for just a feeling. Thanks for the analysis!

      TheRandom PvP nope, just animation

    • @Toimi

      It looks faster but you can not stab someone faster with the flip knife. I do however believe the animation is a bit faster.
      The custom knifes gives you no advantage.. expect maybe that you see more with the karambit.

    Let this be a series!! I think it's important that everyone knows when to call someone a hacker also knowing that someone is a hacker or not. Many ppl complain about hacking in the game but which does not neccesserly have to be because someones hacking, they might just play very good or have dumb luck, like you discribed in the video. I agree on a series on this 100% Clarify the ppl Warowl!! You're assistance is needed x)

    cheating is a wonderfull thing, every person should try, don't judge before you do it. Hacking makes you a better person overall. not a better gamer thou, its a transcedental experience

      Marco81blues I agree

    • @justsomeone4797
      @justsomeone4797 7 років тому +3

      Marco81blues Yeah, for cheaters like you. Yes, I think it is fun if you cheat, although I never cheated in CS:GO(or any game of that matter), but, if you cheat, that just means you don't have any game sense. We win, we lose. That's the nature of playing games. Fools who cheat just for the sake of enjoying their victory are just loosers. Tell me, you wouldn't really enjoy your game if people cheated and resulting in you loosing, would you? How would you feel? IMHO, cheaters should actually not play games at all if they don't work hard on improving.
      Don't tell me that the world is like that and cheaters will always be cheaters. Tell me, is Tuberculosis still an incurable disease? They found a cure for it, haven't they? We changed history and now we don't have to worry that much. When a thief steals, he/she will get caught eventually, am I right? Even if it's not by the police. After facing their punishment, would they continue stealing or robbing, if they know that they would get caught and would be punished again? I don't think so.
      Before, we humans live in simple cottages or houses made of wood. Now, we live in hotels, apartments and even skyscrapers. We also communicate by writing letters to each other before. Now, we have Whatsapp, LINE, WeChat and any social media you could think about.
      Also, did Steve Jobs cheat to be successful? Did Albert Einstein cheat? Nikola Tesla? Stephen Hawking? All of them are successful because all of them have something in common: THEY WORKED HARD. Yup, honest work. Not cheating like you. Moreover, you cheaters cheat just to be good in playing games. The four successful people mentioned above WORKED HARD to make new discoveries, solving the world's mysteries, inventing objects that we before thought was impossible to invent and even changed the world, not playing games.
      See, in this continuously evolving world, we humans, can think and improve. So I firmly believe that we could stop cheating/hacking.
      You(cheaters) might not see this, as you don't even want to work hard on improving in video games and instead, cheating. Good luck surviving in this world with your little brains.

    • @GIJew
      @GIJew 6 років тому

      It's not a wonderful thing, but I do agree that it has the _possibility_ to make you better. It _can_ help you understand how people play and you can use that info when you're not cheating to your advantage. I'm not saying to go and cheat, but from my experience, cheating definitely made me a better player in the game.
      I cheated a lot in the days of Source, but I've never cheated on GO. I learned a lot about player movements and how people peek corners by watching them through the walls.
