I also want to try a pre soak with vinegar or salt in the water. I want to set the die in some of my jeans as I want them to not fade and look like new. I will have a couple pair I will try to fade, but I love the look of new selvedge jeans. I also like them stiff like new. Thanks for this video, very helpful
Just got my first pair of Gustin''s. 34 x 36 straight fit.....olive green. These suckers fit tighter then expected. Others have said to just muscle them in for a few weeks, raw....no soak. Then soak.....
Congrats and welcome to the club! How you proceed is completely up to you, as I have done both a pre-soak as well as worn them 100 times then soaked. Whatever you choose to do, you won’t ruin them!
hi, after soaking them, how did you get those creases/pre distressing out? im not sure how to prevent those or fix them if they happen because i cant iron them
Great question! When I hang the jeans to dry, I make sure there are no creases or folds. This prevents any crease/fold from being created. In addition, the small wrinkles and stuff that you get post-washing will come out when you wear the jeans.
Anybody who doesn't wash their new-bought closed -- 2nd-hand or brand new -- doesn't understand just how many chemicals is used when making clothes or how they are treated for protective reasons before shipping to retailers. Also, when the clothes hang in stores and people try them on... then you come along and buy that pair of jeans... WASH THEM FIRST. Trying them on is one thing, but waring them for hours... not a good idea!

But... Every person I've watched says to soak before wearing. You think that's breaking norms? I've never heard anything else suggested. Even the manufacturers all say "soak before wearing / shrink to fit".

Sounds like the 2 of us have very similar tastes.

Good fit for you. Interested in an update video in 6-12 months.
I’ve now worn them about 200 times.
Should be doing a new vid soon!
Did they shrink at all after this?
Not really. Also, the denim will usually stretch back to it’s original size, as this is sanforized denim.
@DIYTutorialGuy gotcha thanks! Ive heard 6ou may lose an inch or so from the inseam
@joeybaldarelli6620 I think mine may have lost a small amount of length. But nothing major.
@@DIYTutorialGuy thanks for the help!
@joeybaldarelli6620 sure thing!

Then I suppose you haven’t watched enough about raw denim.
And that’s not me being rude, just honest.
