ABC tried to score a "slam dunk" on November 23, 1979 by scheduling "Birth of the Beatles" as a special "ABC FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE" [8pm(et)], followed by that "PLAYBOY ROLLER DISCO AND PAJAMA PARTY" special. CBS attracted more viewers with "THE INCREDIBLE HULK", "THE DUKES OF HAZZARD" and "DALLAS" that evening.
The voiceover artist here is Ernie Anderson, right? He's the father of director Paul Thomas Anderson. Clevelanders knew Ernie Anderson as late-night host Ghoulardi. 🙂
2:54 The PSA w/ Maia Danzinger was related to an ABC Afterschool Special " The Late Great Me : Story of a Teenage Alcoholic" airing in Nov of 1979. A breast cancer survivor. She is married to television/ film producer Michael Pressman .
Thanks. I'd never seen some of these. That Playboy pajama roller disco party screams bad bad idea, especially since what men would have wanted to see would not be airing on ABC. (then again maybe it was a huge ratings success)
"Mork vs. the Necrotons" {one hour} [November 18, 1979]. ABC told Garry Marshall, "We need a *sexy* episode for the November 'sweeps'!". Not many members of the cast and production crew were impressed by Raquel's behavior on the set.
"Aplets & Cotlets" are a fruit and nut combination of Washington apples, apricots and walnuts in a candy confection that's been made by Liberty Orchards in Washington state for over a century.
No. They were late night repeats. Part of a programming block that ran for over 6 and a half years. Which included show such shows as MANNIX and STARSKY & HUTCH.
I'll give you an example of a TV GUIDE print ad promoting "HAPPY DAYS" ["Joanie Busts Out", November 13, 1979]: *"Joanie a centerfold model? Not if the Fonz can help it!"*

Ernie was *the* voice of ABC's promos from the mid-'70s through the early '80s.
A roller-disco pajama party at the Playboy mansion with the Village People! Could there be anything more 70s??
and as tame as a baby kitten.... lol Awesome
It was certainly blunted by having Richard Dawson- host of ABC's phenomenal daytime game show "FAMILY FEUD"- act as host.

It wasn't. Hugh Hefner never produced any further "Playboy" network specials after that.

@ 0:36 - Raquel Welch flips Robin William’s double on a “special” episode of Mork & Mindy.

@@fromthesidelines They didn't hire her for her behavior.
Raquel *could* have been more friendlier with everybody, instead of being a "prima donna" during the filming of that episode.
@@fromthesidelines I know that she and Burt Reynolds didn’t get along on Fuzz or 100 Rifles. Clash of egos, probably.
Yep, that's right.
"They're looking at *me,* NOT YOU."
How did you know the day November 15 1979
Rats, not one mention of the Looooooove Boat.
0:24 whose is that lady?
Cathy Lee Crosby {she previously portrayed "WONDER WOMAN" in a March 1974 TV movie pilot for ABC}.
Back in those days it was only rocky 1-2
Abc 1979 2:50

Was Police Women an ABC show?
No. They were late night repeats. Part of a programming block that ran for over 6 and a half years. Which included show such shows as MANNIX and STARSKY & HUTCH.
That's My Cut! no it was an NBC show those were reruns that were shown on ABC Late Night
Rocky 3

Everything was over sexualized even back then.
The promos certainly emphasized that......
