  • A big thanks to lancexxx2k off Ebay for providing the diagnostic equipment for this car.
Citroen C4 grand picasso suspension failure and investigation.
In this video I detail my Citroen C4 Grand Picasso suspension failure and how to fault find. I hope this helps.
Hello everyone interested enough in this channel to visit here.
I'm just a single Dad whose son wanted his own UA-cam channel to try and make some money because, quite frankly, we're pretty poor. Sadface.
But we're really happy together and I'd do anything for him, including making all sorts of random videos to upload to UA-cam.
As such there's going to be games, reviews of various things and, as I generally can't afford to pay to get things fixed, anything I'm repairing that I can video I'll also upload.
Whatever you're doing folks I hope you're more successful at it that I am, take care and stay safe.
    PLEASE SUBSCRIBE.
    Peace.

I admire your patience and carefull you use when doing this videos.
One thing that I don't understand is why you keep using your Fluke multimeter in VAC when there is only VDC.
Anyway, thanks for the usefull information.

@LuisSantiago-rp1gs Thank you. You're not the first person to notice me using AC measurements. I did try DC and resistance testing but wasn't getting results that showed a meaningful change. If you're ever in this situation do please try it and let me know your findings. It would be interesting to know if others are equally as confused as I was or if I was just having a bad day. 👍

Mine is slammed on the right side, parked for days now some distance away so have not been able to look at it. Thanks for great vids on this topic.

Well after finding mine low both sides on occasions recently I think I've got more work coming. I have found I can buy a pair of airbags new off eBay for £50ish. So that's the route I'll be going down if I confirm a leak. 👍

@@channelone4655 Mine is 2008, 170000 km. Both bags were replaced by previous owners years ago. The issue I was getting was I would start the car, drive 30 meters and then start loading stuff in the cargo. If car was turned off then it would sink and service light would come on, not the warning in the center display. During the fall last year it happened on several occasions when the temp dropped below zero degrees celsius. This time around the car was loaded with groceries and driven (minus 5 outside) at 50 km/h when suddenly after a small speed bump the suspension dropped and the system warning came on. Double beep (door closed) from the switch in the cargo compartment and nothing. But: When car was locked the compressor began sounding, the suspension raised ever so slightly and then the sound of air escaping.

@@Sennbrink Well mines a 2010 with 90K miles, about 145Km on it. I've literally just ordered 2 new bags after a look today showed a cut in the right bag. The left and right bags are different so it's had at least 1 changed in the past. I'll post a video once the new items arrive and get to fit them. I love the idea, but everyone I know with air suspension cars have had troubles. Be it Citroen, BMW, Land Rover or Mercedes. But I guess regular suspension has plenty of trouble too it's just cheaper to fix and doesn't cause such a dramatic failure.

@@Sennbrink One more thing. If the compressor is running all the time to keep the car at the correct height just stop driving until it's fixed. This issue causes the compressor to overheat and fail and even cheap replacements are about £300!

@@channelone4655 The right bag was at fault, being replaced this week. Reg suspension is rarely strong enough to carry the load of a seven seater or larger vans, so when I had a VW Caravelle and replaced the rear springs I went for the stiffer ones, made the car ride nose down when not loaded but when people and cargo were onboard it drove like charm.

Hmmm. From memory there is a temperature sensor on the compressor so this may be triggering something. I'd be interested to know if the manual switches still work when this happens or if it prevents the suspension operation completely. I have to say that's not a fault I've heard/read about before. 🤔

The manual doesn't work either, only after driving some and restart engine I can hear the compressor working and leveling the car. But the car stays good on the road even when the error is present

Have you thought about doing away entirely with the air suspension and replacing with a conversion spring kit as i have, what are your thought?

    • @channelone4655
      @channelone4655  Місяць тому +1

@COLEukDOTcom Yeah I did. But for the amount of load variation I have in the car the air suspension just makes so much sense. It's so good being able to load the car to the max and not have the car feeling tail heavy.
