  • Citroen C4 grand picasso suspension failure and investigation.
In this video I detail Citroen C4 suspension failure and how to replace the rear suspension airbags. It's cheaper and easier than I thought. I hope this helps.
Hello everyone interested enough in this channel to visit here.
I'm just a single Dad whose son wanted his own UA-cam channel to try and make some money because, quite frankly, we're pretty poor. Sadface.
But we're really happy together and I'd do anything for him, including making all sorts of random videos to upload to UA-cam.
As such there's going to be games, reviews of various things and, as I generally can't afford to pay to get things fixed, anything I'm repairing that I can video I'll also upload.
Whatever you're doing folks I hope you're more successful at it that I am, take care and stay safe.
    PLEASE SUBSCRIBE.
    Peace.

Hey thanks for taking the time to produce this video. Mine sits down now and again. I thought it may be the ride height sensor if there is one. Best wishes

If we share what we know we all get smarter. Now, yes there are height sensors. One in front of the rear wheel, and one in the middle of the axle, (don't ask). But if these fail they normally bring a suspension fail message on the dash. I think I've measured their readings in one of my other suspension failure videos, but I can't remember which one. But saying that, the most common reason for the car lowering, especially overnight, is a hole in a suspension bag. My fault was quite specific but usually dirt and grit gets trapped in the fold of the airbag and just rubs away at it until a hole appears. As I did here, pumping the suspension up and spraying a soapy liquid over the bag can find most leaks. I hope this helps.

i solve my faulty suspension error when is cold , and the sollution is when start the engine don t release the handbreak until the car levels up

Well done for finding a solution. It's odd that it only happens when cold. The suspension shouldn't lose air though so doing as I did early in the video may help find any leaks. 👍

I've got Peugeot Expert Tapee and ordered one of those bags in Ebay, when I fit them in position, lowering car down and start pumping air in, it just pushes this bag out of its position. I am a bit stuck here don't know what to do now. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, were those £47 air springs good? Are they still ok after 10 months of use?

I've had no trouble with them at all. After the first few days, then a 600+ mile holiday with a full car I stopped even thinking about them.

Rear disk brake heats more than the others. Changed caliper + bearing, still some heat and brbrbrbr from that side at speeds over 40mph. What could it be? :(

The electric handbrake is a notorious problem on these. You can manually disengage it through a hole under the left front seat. There should even be a wire tool in the tool kit to do this. Obviously this will cause it's own problems if it's an automatic as you'll have no park brake but it could rule the problem out and I'm sure the same tool can reengage the brake.

Hi, did the ebay airbags hold up Ok? I've got a Peugeot Expert van with the same set up and I've been quoted a huge amount by Peugeot to replace air bags and much cheaper ones on ebay. TIA

Still going strong and had no issues. If it's just the bag that's the problem they really are a simple job to replace too. 👍

@arvissorokins8897 On the top of the bag there should be 2 clips which secure the bag to the car. The bottom just seats in a cup on the axel. If I remember I clipped the top in, filled the bag then lowered the car down making sure the bottom of the bag seated in the cup on the axel. Then went through lowering and raising the car before setting back to the neutral point.

@@channelone4655 Thank you for your advice.
Yes, when fitting top part it just hangs and the bottom needs just directing into its hole. I manage to fit it just now but I did other way around as of your advice. I fitted bag, lowered car and then pumped air in(but not max up), luckily it doesn't push it out and, I hope, while driving there will not be any issues with loosing air or with this bag in general. Only one thing what annoys is this warning light in dashboard sometimes comes on while driving. I believe this height difference is not right between axels as in pass mechanic manage to connect with OBD and that is what it was showing. Maybe you can give advice of how to resolve this ?
Anyway I guess your order of fitting was the right one.
Thank you for any advice in advance.

@arvissorokins8897 OK. Well there are 3 solenoids in the compressor. Each side has one to pump air into it's bag, then 1 which vents both bags down. They are prone to getting moisture in and sticking which has been cause for many problems. Generally if the dash light comes on while driving there's still a leak somewhere or a compressor issue preventing the alteration of the height. Now for goodness sake don't do this without having the car supported on axle stands or similar. But if you visually notice one side lower than the other, most notable after leaving stood for a few days, you can swap the pipes coming from the compressor over. IE, the left bag going to the rights port and vice versa. There will be a gush of air when doing this and obviously the bag will empty. Once filled with air again if the side which lowers changes then it's a compressor fault. If the side which loses air remains the same then is a leaky pipe or most usually the bag. It took me days to trace and fix my fault due to having to wait overnight or longer to confirm what was happening. None of it is actually difficult to do though.
