The offense has to stay on the field to allow the defense to rest. Offense controls tempo of the game and the 9ers have the best running back in the game. Running the ball controls tempo. If you can't extend drives, doesn't matter how good the defense is, they will get tired and they may get scored. That's why the old adage is bend don't break. You can't hype up Purdy like he's that guy when if this convo was about Allen, Mahomes, Burrow, Lamar we would be saying it's on the QB and the offense because of the caliber player those guys are. Purdy either is that caliber as some have been trying to argue or he isn't.

So why didn’t Joy say it’s the Ravens defense when talking about the Ravens team? It wasn’t Lamar that was goin crazy, it was the Ravens defense. I didn’t label Lamar as MVP because to me he didn’t deserve it, the defense was the MVP. The Ravens just beat the right team at the right time and since it’s a team sport, mvp automatically goes to the qb since they’re the most important player on the team, but that’s crazy. Lamar wasn’t the most valuable player this year.

Context is important. If the game is won by 49ers 17-10 defrnse should get credit. If the game is won 38-27 offense should get credit. If purdy throws 4tds, 327 yrds, no ints and they win by skim or lwtge margin it should be Purdy.
